~ When Rosemary likes you, it’s quite obvious. He’s always fawning over you, and hangs out with you the most. He probably confessed first. He just can’t keep his feelings to himself, so he has to tell you.

~ Rosemary loves every single part of you. Even the things that you yourself don’t like. He sees you as a person who’s perfect and can do no wrong.

~ This man is so affectionate! You always have lipgloss stains on your face because he can’t stop himself. He’s always holding your hand too. Fun fact: his hands are super soft!(Ask him about his skin care routine, I need to know his secret!)

~ The girls ship you two so hard. Especially Ran. It’s hard to have a romantic moment alone, because she’s always spying. Thankfully, Fuwa and Amane have your back, and manage to drag her away(most of the time).

~ Rosemary is very romantic. Dates with him are always the best. He gets so creative with them, so you’re always pleasantly surprised!

~ He spoils the heck out you. He takes you shopping a lot, buying you clothes, makeup, and most of all, food. No way in hell would he ever tell you how much this hurts his wallet, because he loves doing it. It gets so bad to the point where he asks the girls to borrow money. After finding out about this, you scold him, and are now the one who pays for things.

~ Rosemary is a very emotional person, so it’s easy to tell how he’s feeling. Not that he ever attempts to hide his emotions. Redoing his mascara is an almost daily occurrence, because he can cry simply from eating good food.

~ When it comes to Pretty Cure business, he wants you as far away from harm as possible. He’d hate himself forever if you ever got hurt.

~ Giving each other makeovers is something that happens at least once a month. Rosemary loves makeup, and he loves how you can make him look more beautiful than he already is. He likes doing the same to you, of course!

~ He definitely calls you cheesy nicknames. My love, honeybun and sweetie pie are his favorites. But he’s always coming up with new ones, each one more embarrassing than the last.

LMAO, I love this episode simply because I get LORE and EXPLANATIONS for everything.

Ok, so the reason why everybody in the universe isn’t a vegetable was because 12 out of the 13 creation goddesses said “Let’s Make Things Interesting!”

But Ophiuchus was like “You can’t just give power to mortals and expect them to not fuck things up!” which, to be fair, she was freakin’ right.

Cases like Kappard’s planet being ransacked by other aliens, Tenjou growing up in a toxic society, etc. People can be utter trash, y’know, so why enable it?

But the other princesses were like “That’s alright~, we’ll just leave the fate of the cosmos to a bunch of middle school girls and have them clean up the entire mess~, no problemo desu wa~!”

Naturally, snake princess goes “That’s a shit plan, let’s fight!” but gets booted out of the celestial royals club cuz duh, she went up against twelve of them before they gave away their phenomenal cosmic powers like free samples at Costco.

But they didn’t kill her (of course, who’s that smart? :P) so she found a pocket to sleep in for the next thousand million light years or so, biding her time and waiting for the right moment to strike.

Meanwhile, the princess split their powers and sent it ALL away across space.

No wonder why they did nothing but sit on their thrones for the entire show. They made themselves this way so they literally can’t do much of well, anything.

(Still no excuse for the lazy stock footage this season, though. That’s always going to be a major disappointment of StarPre xP)

Anyways, half of their powers went to all sentient beings in existence and the other half... was stuffed in a weird Build-a-Bear plushie.

Wow, what a perfect plan. [/sarcasm]

So now with Ophiuchus awake from her power nap and the princesses being no better than fancy paperweights thanks to that stunt, it’s easy peasy for snake lady to move forward with her extremist scheme.

Manipulate a bunch of poor unfortunate souls into storming her old home, kidnap her defenseless, former colleagues + Fuwa and then mwuahahaha, finally, she can erase this imperfect universe and create a brand new one!

And this time, she’ll do it right!

Oh, and the fact that old enemies decided to team up with the good guys to stop one OP psycho threatening to destroy all existence as we know it?

Also more or less the same as every space mecha anime I’ve ever seen in my life, hah!

Anyways, the princesses are now saying “Precure, you must use Fuwa + the magic we gave you to erase Ophiuchus and save the universe!” but they’re like “Nuuuuuuu, we can’t give up our rat/horse hybrid baby!”

So Fuwa does us the favor instead and voluntarily DIES.

Yay~ Gewd job, Fuwa! You finally fulfilled your role as a one-dimensional MacGuffin!

Though you’ll be revived at the end anyways in which case, booo. Cheap death.

And apparently, a pointless one, too, cuz snake princess is still well and alive and really just the perfect reenactment of this gif...

 ...yea, I love her. <3

I mean, it’s hard not to when she has to possess more personality than the twelve like-minded but otherwise flat princesses. Y’know, to balance the whole evil vs. good thing.

Like they say, sometimes a story is only as good as its villain (I mean it’s not that great but still better than just having a generic darklord).

Though I’m fairly certain she won’t be killed off either and will be welcomed back into the constellation ranks because from what I’ve read, the positions of the stars have changed since the last time the zodiac was set and now we’re going to have 13 constellation signs instead of 12.

I’m not well-read enough in this topic to explain it well so just google it but if Ophiuchus is spared then I’ll throw in a bet the writers had that in mind from the beginning since the 13th constellation has been a very popular idea in Japan since 1995.

NHK's All PreCure Mega-Poll: The Results are In!

Japan's national public broadcasting station NHK announced the results of the national online poll project "All PreCure Mega-Poll" in the three and half hour live-broadcast program on NHK BS Premium aired from 21:00 to 24:45 (including a 15-minute break) on September 14.

  Fans of Toei Animation's 16-year-old magical girl anime franchise were able to vote for their favorite series, PreCure girl, non-PreCure character, and song between July 12 and August 31. The project site had listed 42 titles (including films), 60 PreCure girls, about 900 non-PreCure characters and 150 songs. A total of 613,524 votes were cast during the seven-week period.

forgive if this has been asked before, but out of curiosity, do u ever plan on making puzzlun-style pictures/dresses for the fuwafuwa and DPPC girls?

Now that would be a fun idea! However it would require that I’d be able to finish even the basic designs of the DPPC girls... And currently fuwafuwa has kind of been pushed aside since I try to focus my fancure efforts into finally creating something tangible for DPPC.

2019 is almost over, and it's time for

The Dazzling Pink Precure were supposed to be handling the ceremony, but then unexpectedly had to go back to the drawing board for some design tweaks, so...

This is the magical girl media that has been consumed here on Mahou-furbies this year!

Anime

Other notable stuff that happened over the year:

Before going to the awards, let’s say a few words about the artistic activity here at Mahou-furbies.

The "practise figure drawing while Precure is playing" project still continues! The experience is surreal, with Precure on one half of the screen, and a nude model with a 60 second timer on the other!

Honestly I don't see any progress myself but having watched roughly 3 seasons this way and 20 drawings per episode that's 1000 sketches, that has to count for something? I hope?

The Chibi project started and continues! According to my statistics that is 170 characters and 504 drawings (different outfits) total! Out of the 63 Main Cures (incl. Healin’ Good) 40 are finished. 

The Magical Girl Fusion drawing happened this year! It is the second most popular tumblr post I’ve ever made, and it still continues making its rounds, occasionally showing up as the most popular post of the day in my activity! It’s one of the few posts of mine I really like, I think it has both a good concept and execution, so I’m happy that it has received attention.

After the Fusion post, another chibi series has launched and these even smaller chibis have invaded all three of my other active blogs, and there is more to come to this blog as well... They’re cuter than the main chibi series, but the details aren’t as visible so they’re not going to completely displace it.

And then there’s of course the Dazzling Pink Precure, which has received outstanding support right from the beginning!

It is kind of amazing that whenever I post about them I often get some kind of feedback, when I think it’s more common that artists struggle to get recognition for their OCs while art of canon stuff gets more responses. So I’m very flattered by the interest they’ve received! And they have even been nominated for this year’s fancure awards (thanks to whoever nominated them) which is just incredible. The changes they are going through right now hopefully won’t have a meaningful impact on that since I only plan to alter some of the pink shades or make one skirt hem a little different or stuff like that, and the main concept should stay the same.

I also find it entertaining that Cure Fluffy who was created to be a parody of the spotlight-hogging pink protagonists got upstaged by an all-pink team.

But that’s it for the art life of Mahou-furbies, now let's start with the awards! 

Best henshin design goes tooooo

Tetty Goodgripp from MagiPro Black! I haven’t read it yet (I’m still at Jokers or Aces, whichever was the middle of the trilogy) but I do love this design.

Then, best team henshin design is

Fresh Precure! Though to be fair not a lot of teams this year... But a win is a win and I did rank them #1 in my Precure Team design ranking a few years ago.

Next, best powerup look is

Also Fresh! bonus points for implementing the powerup in a more interesting way than "new once-per-episode stock footage sequence in the latter part of the season" or "thing we see in the final episode for two and a half minutes"

The award for Best civilian design goes to

Cure Cosmo! Surprising for this monochrome a design, but the simple and stylish look is just so good.

Best school uniform is

Magical Girl Site! ...I know the common opinion of this series and kind of agree with it, but I just like the basic black sailor uniform ok?

Then best hair. That is

Cure Star’s ridiculous twintails! I love them!

Best magical item goes to

The Clear Cards! Sakura’s cards are already a fun item, and I like the transparent visuals.

Best Henshin scene is

Cure Passion’s transformation! I love the part where she sinks into water and the one where her earrings and tiara appear.

Best fan creation witnessed in 2019 goes to

Banban! Hero Precure by @aceaeite​! Great designs that work well both individually and as a team, and the designs are recognisable as both Precure and superheroes! Also I love the detail of the little sister not fighting with the rest of the girls and instead having her own adventures.

Then, Best relationship goes to

Love & Setsuna from Fresh! I don’t ship them, but I like them as sisters and Setsuna finding a loving family after all she had gone through was one of the best elements of the season.

The Best mascot of the year was

Chito from Flying Witch! I don’t really consider this kind of witch series to be a part of the magical girl genre, but it’s more fun to have more works on this list so... Anyway I don’t usually care much for mascots but Chito was cute and not annoying.

Best supporting character (i.e. not one of the magical girls) is

Kaoru-chan from Fresh! At times his existence felt a bit superfluous, but he was funny and it was nice that the girls had a supportive adult around to give advice.

Best visuals goes to

The colour palette in Cosmo’s intro! The use of colour really stood out to me. Not a lot of outstanding animation this year it seems... 

Next, Best audio!

The ending for Invaders of the Rokujouma! The song puts me in a happy place (and I also love the little logos for all the girls).

Then, Best scene is

Seconds 0:05 - 0:10 of Cure Cosmo’s attack! It just has such good lighting and music! (don’t care for the rest of the attack...)

Then, the Innovation award for a work that did something cool and new for the genre!

Honestly I don’t think I can give this to anything this year... Sakura Hime kaden had an interesting historical setting and Machikado Mazoku’s concept of having the friendly villain be the main character was amazing, but neither did anything worthwhile with these ideas so I don’t want to award them... Better luck next year!

Then a special award! While it would be all kinds of entertaining to also pick the worst hair, worst henshin etc I thought I’d focus on the positive. However we can’t get through this post without a little bit of bitching, so next is one Golden Mana Award for one thing that didn’t go quite the way I wanted in some way. And that isssss

The henshin designs in TMM Au Lait! I love the original TMM designs but these new boys apparently have no intention of even remotely following the old design ideas. Pah! 

Then the final awards. Best character of the year is

Cure Milky! Love her more serious and down-to-earth personality, she has a cute design in both civilian and henshin form, her voice is lovely and with a unique origin she brings some fresh air to Precure!

And finally, Best series of 2019 goes to

The first half that I’ve seen of Star Twinkle Precure! I haven’t seen all of it yet, but what I have has been a surprisingly positive experience, with a lot of great characters, exploring the space theme and changing the usual formula even a little. Hopefully the quality will remain strong!

Art-wise I hope to be able to complete all main Cures for the Chibi series (though that also depends on if everyone’s 5-star-card dress will be revealed). But once they are finished there will be compilation posts, and I’m hoping to have some kind of bracket polling thing where we can all vote for the best 5-star-card dress. 

Then there’s the Dazzling Pink Precure, for who I’m currently trying to think of a story and will hopefully be able to put something out.

A revisit to my TMM oc team reveals that all of them kind of suck at being proper magical girls. Like everyone's all "she really doesn't care about fighting" "she is inconsiderate" "she only wants to show off" "she actually wants to take her job seriously but her team being so dysfunctional frustrates her"... I even gave them actual stats, and only one has 10/10 in teamwork (but she's useless in combat), while the others range between 2 and 6. The FuwaFuwa gang looks downright unified and co-operative by comparison, and with them I was trying to make a bad team on purpose!
