A vignette we created at the entrance to the reception, with brass temple bells, turned wood candleholders, mounds of moss, and that stunning bouquet. One of the willow lanterns we rigged with lights and floral to decorate the balcony at Cedar House Restaurant. Grapevine and moss balls, purple and green orchids, and lotus blossoms and pods are all in keeping with the wedding motifs and lend a subtle spiritual vibe. "In Buddhist symbolism the lotus is symbolic of purity of the body, speech, and mind as while rooted in the mud, its flowers blossom on long stalks as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire. It is also symbolic of detachment as drops of water easily slide off its petals." A peek at the delicious menu created by the magic hands at Cedar House Restaurant. Of all the reception dinners I've eaten, professionally and personally, this would easily be in the top of my list of favourites. Lindsey and Wes really went above and beyond as hosts to make their wedding as special an experience as they could for their guests. From welcome gifts to a custom menu with passed appetizers, multiple courses and delicious cocktails no detail was left unconsidered nor overlooked. It wasn't surprising considering Lindsey is a professional event planner who calls her husband Wes the organised one! Together, everyone involved in their wedding worked together to create an artful experience of fun, warmth and care. I felt so honoured to help them with their wedding design, decorating and planning. Weddings tend to see a lot of drama. Understandably, there are so many cultural and familial expectations and pressures inherent in the union of two families. But I can honestly say that every guest I spoke with was so thrilled to be there and felt so lucky to be included, and the amazing food, drinks, activities and environement were just the icing on the cake. I work with many talented vendors and partners and I truly love them all, but I admit Janine her team at Fabloomosity are one of my favourites. When I need flowers to send to an important client or for my Mom on Mother's Day, Fabloomosity is my go to. They always stock flowers I've never seen or heard of before (and I worked as a floral designer for 3 years), and they get me to look at familiar favourites in a whole new way. This detail includes allium, poppy pod, bittersweet, oak leaves and dahlias, and there must have been over 30 different flowers and botanicals in the entire design. Ah-mazing!
