Nightwing looked him over. Had he taken a wrong turn in the swamp? No, he was where he had to be, the last location they had for Grundy…This man either honestly believed he was the zombie or he was playing a dangerous game getting into his territory. And this being Gotham meant both had a high probability…

“Regular sized?…That’s a funny comment to give considering who I said I was looking for. You’re saying you are Solomon Grundy?” he said, trying as much as he could to keep the disbelief off his voice. With all the things he had seen in his life, one would think this would barely register in his weird radar. There was one way to confirm at least part of it.

“If that’s true…then you know who I am…and why I usually come looking for you.”

Grundy had become an important ally to Nightwing. From his space in the swamp he could see pretty much anything that happened in it. Nightwing had been slowly building what he hoped was at the very least a positive alliance with him. It wasn’t just coming for infiltration, the former Robin would often stay a bit, talk with Grundy, offer him a friendship. If this man was who he said he was…he should have at least some memory of that.

He knew nobody would believe him. Even he wouldn’t have believed himself had he been on the opposite end of this interrogation.

Thankfully, he retained his memories. It may not seem like it in various mental states he had been before.....but when he could think clearly, he could remember everything.

“ No, I’m saying that Grundy and I are one. I am not a Dr. Jekyll......I chose to remain in that form. I’d....rather return to it as soon as I am able to.....I dislike being vulnerable like this.....”

Meaning he hated not being able to help himself....to fight back. To protect himself.....much like he had failed to do.....all those years ago. When his life had ended.....and his nightmares had begun.

He had the faintest echo of a smirk.....of he knew very well who the young man was.

“ Nightwing, or as I sometimes call you, ‘Rickety’ because I couldn’t pronounce your name correctly. Your first name. You sometimes visited me to keep me company, and to ask if I saw anything. Looking back.....I think I was a good watch dog. Even though my eyesight is atrocious when I’m my usual self....”

Even with all this, he knew the likelihood of Nightwing realizing it was him was still abysmally small. So he decided to risk what little strength he had....in a little show and tell.

“ I’ll......show you something else.....if my recollection doesn’t suffice....”

His eyes began to glow red, his skin momentarily turning grey. His dark hair was showing white streaks......for a few seconds, he looked like he was on the verge of transforming. But that was all he could do for now. He nearly collapsed, the attempt at a transformation making a dire situation even worse. He was coughing violently.....he felt truly awful now.

There was hatred in Grundy’s yellow eyes for the arrow-based hero. So many memories of being mocked....arrows shot everywhere.....of green hurting him. Green light, green arrows....GREEN GREEN GREEN!

He let out a thundering snarl, his already stressed temper close to just snapping entirely.

“ ARROW MAN ALWAYS HURT GRUNDY! ARROW MAN AS BAD AS GREEN DEVIL!”

Not even things welded to the floor were going to survive Grundy’s rampage as he started throwing things at Green Arrow, so utterly full of anger that he was willing to just destroy everything around him.

Any angrier......and he’d be consumed by the very zombie nature he so utterly feared.....

A huge dumpster was picked up and held in the air, ready to be thrown like a projectile at his intended target.
