AU idea: Goumang doesn’t get lobotomized.

Instead of turning Goumang into a vegetable, Yi kidnaps- I MEAN “surprise recruits” her to his little rebellion. Why? Because Shuan Shuan told him to try and solve the problem peacefully.

She’s still livid with Yi for breaking her legs and sees Kuafu as a traitor, but surprisingly tender with Shuan Shuan. He reminds Goumang both of her “babies” before she turned them into Jiangshi Soldiers and of herself when she was a child.

Her interactions with Yi throughout the game would be a mixture of bickering over petty things or debates about of The Sols have handled Tian Huo crisis. This adds a new perspective to the whole situation: someone who didn’t side with the plan simply for personal gain but also for the benefit of the Solarian people.

Goumang would act as a dark reflection of Yi, what he would have become if he didn’t spend that year in Peach Blossom Village or have someone like Heng in his childhood.

also there’d be an enemies-to-lovers romance with Yi being a tsundere and Goumang being oblivious

I like to imagine that the Yi/Goumang dynamic is that will they argue and hiss at each other like the pair of angry cats that they are, and will do it for eternity if it weren't for a third party stepping in to stop the madness

On top of this the moment they're out of earshot each will happily wax poetical about how insufferable the other is, including some weirdly hyperspecific examples, such as fur styling. And yet, despite all their complaints, it's guaranteed that they'll be back at it again the next day like clockwork.

Everyone around them comes to the horrifying realization that being a genius also apparently means that you're denser than a neutron star.

Ruyi notes that Yi's heart rate shoots up whenever he's near her. Yi insists it's because of sheer incandescent rage.

That moment in the fourth picture - I imagine the guards are looking for them because they were absent from a Tiandao Council meeting without giving a reason first. I imagine this is the reaction of the rest of the Sols:

Eigong: THE ONLY ONE THAT DOESN'T KNOW. Minor freakout because these two normally would rather die than show up late. Last time one of them showed up five minutes late, they immediately started kowtowing and declared themselves a disgrace to their position, and it took ten more to convince them that it wasn't that bad. It's been half an hour since the meeting started and she's beginning to panic.

Jiequan (Way more stable thanks to having actual friends when younger): Refuses to say anything because Heng has threatened to murder him if he spills the beans. She was joking, of course, but he'd still rather not risk it. That, plus he knows that they were each other's first friends, and, like many others on this list, would rather not ruin the moment.

Kuafu: Knows exactly what's going on and doesn't want to ruin their moment. He's not particularly good at keeping secrets, though, and it takes glares from both Jiequan and Lady Ethereal to make sure he shuts up.

Lady Ethereal: Not in the loop, but has been paying attention and puts two and two together. The two aren't exactly subtle; the two of them have way too many joint projects to be written off as mere coincidence.

The Fengs: Weren't told, but were aware enough to figure it out. They've had their own share of relationships that they've had to keep quiet from the clan heads. Neither of them says anything because they don't want the two being found in flagrante delicto.

Yanlao: Reaction can best be summed up as "Ah, young love." Wasn't told, but has seen this situation play out multiple times over his life, and knows how much these couples value discretion. Surprised that Eigong still hasn't figured it out.

Ji: Will never say it, but the utterly flabbergasted look that will be on Eigong's face when she discovers them kissing right in front of the Council chamber in a few weeks is something he will treasure forever.

heterosexual nine.sols ships are so boring. yimang is nothing (goumang is so ridiculously uninterested in him be serious). yiwa is nothing (i have yet to see an interesting take on this). if you guys are going to do this can we have some interesting ones. how come i never see like fuxi/eigong or nuwa/jiequan or kuafu/goumang or something.
