I wonder how the kkoma yjhs work like their whole reason for existing is to compartmentalize SP's long existence but they seem to retain their own memories past the point of being created. If a kkoma lived too long would he also need to start making kkomas? About keychain sized. Will SP eventually reabsorb them all and then recreate them so they all turn out to be amnesiacs? I think that would be interesting. 999 gang ask to talk to 999yjh, and instead of refusing to talk to them he does come out. He comes out with memories of having just died for them. He tries to protect them again. SP absorbs him, and when he comes out again he's fresh from dying for the 1000th time. I think that would have hammered in the whole "3rd round, 42nd round, 999th round, etc don't exist anymore." Because they do exist. They continued to live and the 3rd round became the 42nd became the 999th became the Plotter. And anyways if they wanted 999th round yjh with memories of the 999th round why didn't they just ask for freshly regressed 1000th round yjh. Because 1000th round yjh is a different person? quick tangent for i think uh.. like problems i have w writing that i've noticed lately

idek how far back it goes but i make a lot of notes before actually writing for a piece from start to finish. i flesh things out in my head or think of a detail to elaborate on later and jot typically everything down that i can bc my memory sucks and ik i'll forget it later of i let it set too long, or if not forget then it'll be hazy and all the details won't be there.

the thing abt this is that 1) i write most notes all in a big blur and separate big thoughts by semicolons in lieu of any other punctuation, and i feel like most of the time i'm jotting everything down as i think of it (as it is in my head) so i don't have to waste time on coming up w correct wording or what makes sense, i'll figure out what makes sense later yknow? so it's all a giant stream loosely punctuated and if you read it out mostly it'd sound like someone speaking.

which leads to 2) a lot of extraneous detail accumulates and the bits and pieces that DO end up sounding eloquent i end up liking enough that i wanna shive a phrase or line into the story as is. which is !!! part of the bigger problem, exhibit a

when i come up with something for a story, i want to somehow insert it into the story no matter what. this means that i have trouble letting go of older ideas that no longer fit, but it also means (and this is the main problem i feel i have) that i feel the need to put a lot of extraneous elements into the story just because.

sometimes this is fine!! but sometimes, like this past week skimming old notes for a wip fic abt a yr old, i feel like this is not great and that i could be going abt it all in a better way.

let me give an example. i have a fic where a character is not quite human, is adopted by human parents for power gaining purposes later, is never told they're not human and ends up running away at a young age, but starts exhibiting non-human qualities later in life.

also, this fic is from the pov of another person in conflict with the one above. they meet after the first has already run away from home, so from a story perspective, there is no reason that the pov character should know any of the information i listed above. the story is about them trying to figure out what exactly the other character is, species-wise, and both of them are not on good terms so there's no opening to inquire directly with each other to puzzle it out.

what i've realized is that this plot point is interesting and can add to the story, but not as a direct quote, because it doesn't fit and would hinder the narrative to introduce. however! just because it can't fit doesn't mean i can't use it indirectly. idk where to go just yet, but today i thought about tossing aside a mention of the parents and such directly and instead using that information to build characteristics. i know it happens and that this person experiences it, so i can use that to puzzle out how it influences them, maybe showing how it contrasts them to the pov character, or possibly alluding to it as what's probably necessary information that the pov character simply doesn't have ('if i could just figure x out, if i just knew about y, then i could solve for z')

which is to say that uhhhhh basically! i'm slowly realizing that there are (probably better?) ways to use extraneous information besides directly. i usually don't worry about padding a story, but i have written plenty before where there's a word cap and for that purpose i feel like this will be helpful to keep in mind so the "padding" can be reduced but still serve its purpose.

it helps too that i never really delete my notes, so it's not like all the bits and pieces i think are ingenious are gone forever jus bc it doesn't make it into the story. i've thought abt actually taking screenshots or straight up copy/pasting some of my fic notes here, especially for completed fic i'm not liable to think abt again in terms of editing, as a sort of archive but also jus so i have somewhere i can point my fingers at and say 'oh look! i wrote smth cool come look at it!'

anyway this isn't uh anything tangent and i need to learn to kill my darlings i think first before i can implement this idea, or perhaps starting this way (with indirectly adding to a story) will enable me to do that better (discarding unnecessary things altogether). again bc i'm writing fic for fun i'm not rly stressed abt forming a perfect cohesive story that cuts out irrelevant details bc if i'm writing for me and i like those details then why not? but i do also think overall this will help me improve writing quality and i'm excited to test some things and go from there :) even if i like where i'm at now, i also think challenging my comfort when writing is never a bad thing bc i'll look at smth i write now a yr ago and go oh! i've definitely gotten better!

This one i posted a storyboard for actually its An Aliens I Love You by Utsu-P.

I gave young Rin a sakura motif with her dress because of miku and rin meeting under a sakura tree, teen miku has a pink ribbion and hairclip to continue this. both rins bow and mikus outfit get darker outfits overtime to sybolize the song getting darker. I also gave adult rin the future rin hair. Miku's "alien" form is more or less how its described in the song tho i was lazy and didn't draw the 4 arms in the refs.

also Lily is Rins mom in this yup there she is indeed.

I actually have a lot of assets finished including the ones above i may show em off one day who knows.

i gave them both very cute and elegent outfits i think it matches the vibe of the song. The starry outfits are the real highlight. if you wonder how I drew em over and over i just copy pasted the stars on their dresses.

Sooo, I'd actually played out a concept for something like this, involving Kith Gauer, from The Trace Systems. A little different in initial premise, whereby her own body was taken over and she herself was extracted on external storage (sci-fi things, yknow how it is).

Either way though, there is a solid way to work it out. Some of the characters know her pretty well, and would be able to pick up on little things, but nothing to go "hey, you're not Kith are you?" No, the surefire way, and they would only do this when they're really suspicious, would be to put her in a room with Dr Lorna Navarra.

Kith is just a teensy bit traumatised by Dr Navarra, so although she works for her, she very rarely interacts with her directly. Surgery-based interrogation will do that to you, and she gets a visceral reaction from it, especially in the operating room (if you can even call it that). So, nobody is going to force that on Kith. Except for Dr Navarra, who would be able to tell immediately based on Kith's reaction to her. And she would want the real Kith back because she finds her fascinating and a uniquely skilled subordinate. Woe betide the doppelganger if they cross paths with Lorna Navarra.

apologies for not posting any TS4 content as of the past MONTHS i know Lmfao, but my laptop somehow decided to become 100x more dingy after i got my cousin's desktop pc (fr it was almost like the damn scallywag somehow grew sentience, knew i got a new pc & now is just throwing a digital tantrum like a normal tantrum but in bright green binary code and black background or somehthing technological like that idk) so im still waiting to when i get the $$$ to get me a good 1TB or over external hard drive meanwhile im mostly laying low dealing w being really burnout with life in general and missing having TS4 to decompress a lot lol, hopefully i can score some cash and get a sturdy and spatious (like my Mods folder alone is out of this world i pledge a MILD and i mean only MILD apology to my old laptop bc damn it was something like 100MB and i wish i was being hyperbolic but it was definitely a triple digit GB adding my saves/tray etc its just way too much to try to sync, like im not paying for Mega or anything like that when i know a external harddrive is more of a guarantee even if i dont buy it as quick as buying a subscription or something to add how many TB i can store/sync on a web storage just feels dumb 2 me, personal opinion ofc, but yeah anyway im actually just excited to when i finally get to play TS4 again in general not even thinking in regards to just posting here, i just miss it a lot, its was such an easy way to decompress n exercise creativity to some extent by making a bunch of random sims on cas yknow, but yeah fingers crossed ill get an external drive soon !! again rlly sorry, enjoy this lovely picture of Charlie from Black Country, New Road :-) and details of an unfinished drawing i turned into a random collage lol

so ive been using window 7 since high school, right, first on my laptop, and i stuck with it for my desktop bc windows 10 had only come out pretty recently- windows 8 had been such a fucking mess that i wanted to make sure it was, yknow, functional. i continued not upgrading bc i found the format to be kind of irritating, and also bc im lazy and have a pretty firm "if it aint broke dont fix it" policy. i continued not upgrading after they discontinued support bc i have become increasingly bitter about how much corporate spyware is crammed onto every electronic on the face of the planet.

this was fine until last year, when i finally started running into programs i actually wanted to run flat not working on win7, and by programs i mean games, and by games i mean elden ring. so i dissected my old gaming laptop, removed the 2 500gb hard drives, shoved 'em my desktop, and used one of them to dual boot the thing to windows 10, which i had to spend enough energy on setting up in a way i was comfortable with that by the end i was just like "ill use this... later..." and then didn't. i still haven't played elden ring.

im now running into more programs that aren't compatible, including csp 2.0, and i want that align tool badly enough to bite the bullet and switch to using win10 full time. this means i have to swap which drive is running which- win10 needs to be on my main hard drive (2tb, runs faster) along with all my files, win7 needs to be on one of the 500gb drives with any older progams incompatible w/ win10 (the other 500gb drive is for overflow storage; i like to micromanage my file organization).

it doesn't appear to be possible to just switch them simultaneously, which tracks, that feels like a bit of a tall ask. so the gameplan then became to:

1) empty the storage drive and merge both the 500gb drives into one 1tb partition

2) shuffle files onto flash drives so my win7 side is under 1tb (~200gb, no i do not have any one device that fits that, i had to play data tetris on like 4 different ones, if someone wants to give me $100 to get a better external that would be great)

3) make a disc image of the win7 data on my 1tb external

4) wipe the 2tb drive, move the win10 data onto the clean disc (possibly by merging the partitions?)

5) restore the file data to win10

6) re-dual boot and restore all win7 data on the 1tb side

7) make sure all my shit got shuffled over properly; move anything fully win10 incompatible onto external storage (may involve wiping external hard drive, we'll see)

8) factory restore win7 to default settings, fully clearing file data

9) repartition the 500 gb storage unit; untetris all the overflow data back into place

10) manifest an extra hundred dollars or so and purchase an external drive with 4+ tb data as i should have done like 5 years ago ._.

im currently on: step 3! and have been for roughly 3 days now, bc large backups are Fucking Slow and it took me a hot second to find out that win7's native backup+disc image creator straight up won't process a 2tb disc, you need to download some other software. also because tech problems are bad for my blood pressure, and i have other shit to do in my life.

the backup software (it actually came with my external but i never actually installed, because i havent had to backup the entire drive and os for this pc before. the os backup was technically. like 7 years old. from my laptop. and i never thought to replace it, i just kept the files updated as needed) is currently like halfway through and if it gives me another error message before it finishes i will. i dont know. lay down and cry, probably.

did i ever actually post the tech saga. i havent been able to use my desktop properly in like a week.

like basically, the ~idea~ is that Magic is given to you (either by The Mother, Ibraos, or just from the Planar Sea directly, it isnt that important) when you place effort into it. and that effort can come in multiple forms, which are the ‘casting types’. There’s mental, which is just thinking a spell and it happening. There’s kinetic, which at its most simple is when you angrily point at someone and a gust of wind goes ~woosh~, but can go as complex as a full interpretive dance routine. There’s verbal, which is saying the spell out loud. And there was a written category, which allows you to write spells out and have them activate. Mental is the king of the casting types, and a little bit of mental effort/intention is required for all the other types. So yknow, if you just copy a spell out of a book so that you have a copy of it for later, you arent going to set fire to the library. you have to do with deliberate intent.

then theres some auxiliary stuff, like some materials can increase or decrease your magic, which is less that it increases the effort put in, it just lets it get more directly to the ‘source’ of magic, or cuts it off entirely (iron, mostly). So volcanic glass from Chalsei Koshoil amplifies magic because it gets you that step closer to the magic source. opens ya fucking mental magic pathways. and then i guess offerings to gods are a non-magical attempt to get that deity to come closer to YOU, which would have a similar sort of effect. So for the Ibraosi (at least the Tominari), when they offer up small portions of their meals and livelihoods to their deity of magic, they are hoping that Ibraos will recognise their gift and, upon the next time that person calls upon magic, They will respond ‘faster’ to the request with more magic. it doesnt actually increase the time taken to cast. its more like... magic drop off. the difference between copper and fibre optic. non-amplified and amplified magic travel at the same core rate through magic to get you The Goods you want, but non-amplified loses a lot of the effort you send out, which means you recieve less back and your spells are weaker. yknow?  sure’

i guess that works. does raise questions about how Uhoma works if this is the system?? i GUESS that the types of casting are the.. hmmmmmmmmmm

ok so, everyone has an internal well of mana. the 4 casting types are how that mana exits the body and connects with (The Mother/Ibraos/The Planar Sea/Whatever the Fuck), which is how spells happen. which means that Uhoma is mostly about the state of your well (which is your soul, SORT OF????). So for Saval, she just has no juice in there. she can use other sources of mana (like, if you store mana in a crystal, she can use that crystal to cast a spell, not that she knows How the Fuck to do that, necessarily). This is compared to Koshi, who has a well fucking FULL of mana, but which has no exits. no matter which type of casting she tries, it simply does not have the force required to pierce the well, leaving her completely magicless. wait. but then she should be able to use crystals???? oh god oh fuuuck. hhhh uhomas fucking with my shit. is it like..... she just cant interact with external mana either? because it cant flow through her, because it gets stuck outside of the well? whereas saval, who has an open and empty well, CAN send mana through it (she just cant really Keep it there, her well is leaky i guess, wow that sounds messed) and thus cast? the mana MUST flow through the person in order to properly ‘interact’ with the ~magic in the air~ for a spell to cast? and then the reason that Koshi can cast while possessed is that her patron is. Extremely fucking powerful. its ‘cast types’ can easily pierce the well and let her mana through, in addition to the patrons own source of mana which it sort of brings with it.

hold on, i have the analogy, sort of. Material Method Media, its a Vis Comm Thing. Material is what the art is done on, so paper or canvas. For us, thats like.... the fabric of the universe (The Mother, Ibraos, So Forth). Method is how the art is done, so drawing, photography, etc. For us, these are the 4 casting types. Media is what the art is done with, so pencils, crayons, paints. For us, this is the mana inside of a person. The caster takes their mana (either from within themselves and from an external source), passes it through themselves (blocked by Uhoma type B), casts it with one of the 4 methods, and sort of prints it into the fabric of the universe, causing the spell to manifest. This is only slightly different for Planar Magic, which has to print and tear through the fabric, because thats the goal. you need the raw juices.

I guess Infusion Magic, then, is basically just placing mana Inside that shit. Just popping it in there, by a similar sort of method to what you would use to create actual mana storage stuff. right? suuuuuure. fuck it tbh. i dont know shit
