Martin Mystery and Team Galaxy in the same world??!
Soo, I was watching Team Galaxy and found a VERY familiar face from Martin Mystery!
It’s M.O.M. in Team Galaxy’s S01E24 Circus of the Stars (Part 1)”!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to this episode, Principal Kirkpatrick was married to M.O.M. It was never clarified if they were still together or not but by the looks of it, it was hinted they weren’t together anymore since PK was having a flashback with his old pal about being married once. That means M.O.M. is Josh’s mom!
I believe Josh and Martin would get along very well considering they are both lazy but willing to be resourceful when faced with danger. Martin is more girl crazy. Josh is more level-headed in terms of common sense. I can imagine Diane being annoyed of Yoko since she likes to sing and be the center of attention. They are both studious but Diane is more of a know-it-all. Yoko is more silly and empathetic.
Here is the confirmation that M.O.M. was in TG:
Tumblr media
Well, that’s it, folks! I definitely am glad I am currently watching TG and almost done! It’s the lesser known between Totally Spies and Martin Mystery. I hope others give the show a chance. Definitely worth it.

(the far out adventures of) TEAM GALAXY!
so on THIS POST i had some people asking:
#somebody tell me where the characters that are lance and allura are from
#WHAT ARE THE PURPLE AND BLUE ANIME PEOPLE FROM AGAIN #I RECOGNIZE THEM
#Omfg is that team galaxy ....yes! so,
they’re from a mid 2000′s show called TEAM GALAXY!!
“Team Galaxy, le Collège de l'Espace or Galaxie Académie (in Quebec) is a French-Italian-Canadian animated series made by Marathon Production, Rai Fiction and Image Entertainment Corporation. It blends 2D animation with CG elements, and is set at "Galaxy High" (not to be confused with the school in the 1980s animated series of the same name), where a trio of young students try to balance their regular teenage lives and their training to become Space Marshals. The concept and animation style is similar to that of both Totally Spies! and Martin Mystery, other series created by the same production company.” -Team Galaxy Wikipedia Page
the official english site for the show doesn’t seem to be up anymore, though i believe the french one is still out there somewhere. anyway, all of the episodes are on youtube if you want to check it out! it’s a bit hokey and out-dated, but it’s a really cute show! and if people like it? i would love to see a revival of team galaxy fandom in 2017!!
my favorite character was always yoko btw! she’s so much fun.

I’ve watched the twenty-sixth episode of “Gurren Lagann” and creators of the series probably decided that the onlooker has lived long enough and it’s time die. Die of overexcitement, of course, because this episode is at least ten times cooler than anything, you could have ever imagined. (Spoilers!) After Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann appeared and defeated a huge anti-spiral ship the team finally remembered that their goal was actually to save Nia and they tried transporting to her again but Anti-spirals used an unexpected trick – they sent everybody except for Lordgenome and Boota, who in the previous episode served as a source of a huge amount of spiral energy and in this episode “evolved” into humanoid form, into parallel universes – where everything is good, where they have families, where they are famous and where bro is alive. But then, real bro – Kamina – came to Simon (in whose universe he and his bro were thieves and lived underground, but sometimes pretty luxurious) when they were caught and parallel bro was on his knees begging for forgiveness, so, Simon realized that they were doing wrong and that it wasn’t real, went to some “soul world” talked to Kamina and other dead comrades and then flew like a shooting star through other parallel universes collecting other members of Mega Galaxy Dai-Gurren and bringing them back through little pieces of his drill and then the whole team and Gurren Lagann appeared from Nia’s ring (one which Simon gave her) and now they are probably going to finally save her from anti-spiral! The parallel universe part broke my heart – when I saw Yoko being famous and getting married to Kittan, Viral having a family (and a child! You remember – beastmen are sterile) and of course, seeing little Simon and Kamina again – awesome.

Ultraman Z Ep. 2: “A Warrior’s Principle” (TV Review)
Tumblr media
(Original Air Date: June 27, 2020, Director: Kiyotaka Taguchi, Writer: Kota Fukihara)
The second episode of Ultraman Z, “A Warrior’s Principle”, takes some time to familiarize the audience with the setting of STORAGE. The dynamic between Haruki, his co-workers, and Ultraman Z gets elaborated on this time as they deal with the threat of an invisible monster, Neronga, that feeds on electricity. With a new power plant set to provide their city with clean energy, the team, along with Ultraman Z, need to find a way to track and stop the monster before it absorbs the energy from the plant.
[Full Review Under the Cut]
Coming hot off the momentum of the first episode, “A Warrior’s Principle” takes the time to build the audience’s familiarity with the procedural operations of STORAGE and the full story behind Zett’s arrival on Earth. Seeing the operational staff of STORAGE outside of our main cast goes a long way in creating a sense of reality around the idea that they are a fully functioning government team and not just a half dozen quirky characters that happen to own a giant robot. Though there is a stronger impression of who these characters are in the beats between dealing with the threat of Neronga. Early on we get a better glimpse into Yoko’s personality as we see her arm wrestle one of the maintenance workers for the right to date her, winning effortlessly. Yuka also gets a few more beats to establish her tech and monster research focus when she insist she could easily invent something better than the new clean energy power plant in their city.
Haruki’s part in the story and his relationships within STORAGE focused on most this time is with the increasingly enigmatic Captain Shota Hebikura (Takaya Aoyagi). After Haruki’s defeated by the invisible Neronga while piloting Sevenger, the captain finds the rookie practicing his karate and challenges him to a sparring match. Hebikura’s swift moves let him catch Haruki off guard several times before he’s able to hit the captain back and his captain leaves him with the old martial arts movie lesson of relying on more than one’s eyes in battle. The way the captain moves and speaks to Haruki, along with his general demeanor in the previous episode, suggests there’s more to him than he lets on. While the Ultra-fandom has already speculated about that, considering who’s playing the character, I’d prefer to hold off on that until the show itself gives some answers.
We do get some answers on other matters during a conversation between Haruki and Zett. First thing that’s made clear is how the now merged pair can communicate as we Haruki walk into a door of light where he can talk to his new partner in a pocket dimension. This conversation includes insight into why Zett and Zero were chasing Genegarg last time. Zett explains that monsters across the galaxy have become infected with “Devil Splinters”, increasing their power and driving them into mad fits of destruction. His home planet, the Land of Light in the M78 Nebula, developed the Ultra Z-Riser and its medals, infused with the powers of past Ultras, to deal with the threat. Genegarg attacked the planet and ate the medals, so they chased the shark monster until they reached Earth orbit.
Zett theorizes that destroying Genegarg scattered the medals, so gathering them back up needs to be a priority. Haruki’s also told not to worry about the medal-holder he’s wearing on his belt, since it’s made of a material that humans can’t see, which as a way for the writers to cover their tracks for why people don’t immediately see through Haruki as Ultraman Z’s human identity is decent. There’s also a wonderful comedic bit where Zett explains to Haruki that he’s 5000 years old and gets flustered when Haruki decides he needs to be less casual with him now and apologizes for any disprespect. Something I’m less keen on is Zett saying Haruki wasn’t able to transform in his first encounter with Neronga because his spirit wasn’t “heated enough”, which feels more like the writers saying “we need to save the Ultraman fight for the end of the episode.”
That fight goes back to how this episode displays how STORAGE operates as a team. We see them have a meeting beforehand to go over Neronga’s strengths and weaknesses, identify the new power plant as its next most likely target and determine they need to track and stop the monster before it reaches the facility. Yuka developed a weapon that can disperse the electricity that Neronga already absorbed, Haruki and herself make up the ground team to plant a tracking device on the invisible monster, while Yoko uses Sevenger to launch Yuka’s new weapon. Even though they have a rough go of it and Haruki transforms to deal with Neronga directly, the plan still works. It feels like a team effort between Ultraman Z and STORAGE. That sense of teamwork is something I hope to see throughout the battles in the series. There’s even a bit of internal teamwork with Haruki and Zett, as Haruki uses the lesson Hebikura taught him and tries to sense Neronga without relying on sight. Though it does lead to a bit of unintentional humor when Zett’s asked to close his eyes, but since the suit clearly can’t it’s visualized by Ultraman Z looking at the ground.
“A Warrior’s Principle” expanding on the lore of the season and giving us a better idea of how the ensemble of characters work together keeps the energy of the first episode going without needing to be as action focused. The enigmatic nature of Hebikura and Yuka excitedly going off to dissect Neronga at the end of the episode make them the ones I’m most excited to see more from. Yoko’s more of a mixed bag so far, since the show feels the need to balance out her no-nonsense persona with the running gag of her being attracted to older men. Which has a payoff at the end of her developing a crush on Ultraman Z after he saved her during the fight with Neronga. A crush only deepened when Haruki tells her the giant is 5000 years old. Though that does lead to the reminder that Yoko has her hands on the Ultraman medal, vowing to keep it safe for him.
That tease also doubles with the next episode preview showing we’ll soon see the debut of another form for Ultraman Z.

The Knight Swordsman
Before we get into this week, it would behoove me to note the tragic passing of Kinjo Mana, the actress who played Ui in Ryusoulger. She is not the first toku actor to die much too young, but there can be no doubt it is a tragedy she is gone.
A side note for Ultraman, this week's Zero & Z has the first canonical acknowledgement of Melos and Aura, implicitly making Uchiyama Mamoru's manga, or at least the Jackal ones, canon. At the very least, it would be safe to say Fightas also canonically exists.
Z: Director Kuriyama explains the dismantling of STORAGE and replacement with 1st SAAG. When a question is asked about contingencies for D4 Yuki Mai explains about data from Ultraman that has been used to create Ultroid Zero, Yoko seems apprehensive, Yuka and Juggler are more openly against it, and we get our confirmation for what we all knew, that Celebro has possessed Director Kuriyama. Haruki is melancholic, bored with his security work, though at least he still gets to see Yoko. The stuff about Yoko is obviously leading somewhere. Yuka discovers Kaiju are showing signs of waking in response to Ultroid Zero, but Kuriyama refuses to hear her out. Ultroid Zero's test begins and immediately we get the appearance of Takkong, King Guesra and Demaaga. Haruki sneaks off so Z can deal with the aquatic Kaiju first, 1st SAAG in response deploys Ultroid Zero to deal with Demaaga, but as soon as the fighting starts Gomess (S) and Pagos arrive as well. They have done well replicating abilities, it must be said. Kuriyama is keen to use D4 again. Having defeated Z, Takkong and King Guesra also make their way to Ultroid Zero. Z returns and manages to calm the aquatic Kaiju. Kuriyama forces Yoko to use D4, while she tries very hard no to, but she relents. While the dimensional collapse has been prevented, the feedback nearly kills Yoko. Z pulls her out, only for Hebikura to appear, and finally reveal himself to Z and Haruki as Juggler.
The Absolute Conspiracy: Great and Powered contend with Sran Seijin and Hellberus, while Ribut tries to save Max, and the team of 5 Ultras manage to defeat Leucocyte, meaning it wasn't THE Leucocyte. Justice and Cosmos explain that the energy they detected wasn't Leucocyte, and also appeared in Future Earth. Absolute Tartarus introduces himself. Ribut uses the antibodies on Max, but the egg still hatches into a Gudis mutated Maga-Orochi. Max is enabled to fight when Max Galaxy appears and restores his energy, followed by Xenon, who joins his subordinate in battle. Tartarus introduces himself as an Absolution and attacks again, but is opposed by Cosmos and Justice joining as Legend, who immediately forces Tartarus to flee, before spitting back to Justice Standard Mode and Cosmos Luna Mode. Great defeats Sran Seijin, Powered defeats Hellberus, and Xenon softens Maga-Orochi for Ribut and Max. Taro assigns Ribut to the Galaxy Rescue Force, and Hikari assigns Sora to the team. 80, Yullian, Powered, Max and Great all discuss the matter of Tartarus with Zoffy. At Galaxy Rescue Force HQ Ribut and Sora meet their new comrades, War God Queen Izana, Andro Super Warrior Andro Melos, and guardian deity Gukura Shisa. And so ends part 1... On the ruins of Planet Mikarito, Tartarus, who once saved Sran Seijin, now kills him for his failure, and heads somewhere else, sensed by King.
Saber: Okay, so Kento isn't dead. They could've done more last time to make clear that he wasn't. Storious questions if the swordsman of lightning can open the last gate for them, but Kamijo claims Kurayami will serve. After everyone talks about the situation, Touma decides to try and take Kurayami, as Kamijo goes to defeat the last Goblin. Daishinji is working on two books, the one Touma got from the Man in Avalon, and what looks like a replica. Oh god damnit Kento. Kurayami is apparently doing something to Kento to destroy him. Kento shows up just in time for Caliber to kill the Goblin, unlocking the last book. The Riders continue trying to fight Caliber as the book fully unseals, to the Megiddo's general glee. Touma's resolver triggers a reaction between Brave Dragon, Rekka, the flip book and the book from Avalon, which goes to Touma and becomes Dragonic Knight, Touma and Kento both hear Luna's voice. As Dragonic Knight Touma is much stronger and able to match Jaou Dragon, and having a power to send back attacks like Caliber. Mysterious Man is cryptic. Touma manages to use the Dragon to get Kurayami away from Kamijo, and I think seals the Gateway? Then Saber does the incredible double fakeout 1st quarter whammy. What's up with Kurayami???
Kenshin Retsuden: This time we have "an episode of Espada", the back side of episode 13. While still unconscious in bed Kento is tormented by the memories of 15 years ago. He awakens to find darkness pooling around him, and recalls his defeat and then Sophia presenting him with Ikazuchi, he then asked Ogami if he had any idea about why Hayato had betrayed Sword of Logos, and we see from his recollection for the first time Kamijo defeating Caliber, and Hayato fleeing the scene, the last time anybody saw him. Kento regrets his focusing on his father over his duties, and spots the Wonder Story book, remembering Rintaro telling him about Touma becoming a swordsman, and Sophia asking about how he acquired Brave Dragon and Rekka, Rintaro reveals Lost Memories, Touma's book, contains details from 15 years ago, Kento was overjoyed to learn Touma was alive. After seeing how Touma still values promises, he swore to explain to Touma when he remembered. Mei comes in and tells Kento the others are fighting to save him, and that Rintaro wants to take a family photo with everyone. Kento recalls Rintaro's strength, and Mei joins in thinking about him. Kento asks for some water, and uses the chance to sneak out to join the others, so he can fulfill his promise to them.
Kiramager: Garza's angry, and Yodonna makes a plan with him. Since we're mentioning Numajo again, is anyone else confused that Minjo still hasn't appeared? They established there was a sister and then she never appeared. Anyway, Shiguru is poisoned, and Garza with his powered up Jamentality uses Smog Jouki to forcibly combine with Express, forming Jaaku King Express. It's a pretty hopeless situation all around, with Garza's power up allowing Jaaku King Express to stand up to even Grateful Phoenix. The eventual loss sends Yodonna into a rage, showing her own Jamentality. And Yodon...does something for once...and Juru sensed it.

Katamari Damacy (PlayStation 2)
Tumblr media
youtube
Katamari Damacy was released by Namco in 2004, while I was finishing up college... a process that would take at least another two years.  At this point in my life, I was an absolute weeb for anything Japanese.  I was obsessed with Japanese film, particularly the works of director/actor Takeshi Kitano (who is still among my favorites); I absolutely binged every bit of anime I could get my hands on; speaking of which, my car CD player almost always had an anime soundtrack spinning, usually by Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop).  I was teaching myself Japanese, with the eventual intention of moving there to teach English at part of the JET Program.
Well, spoilers, I didn’t make it into the JET program despite a valiant effort on my part and I have yet to visit Japan.  Sigh...
Katamari Damacy, at the time, was peak Japanese weirdness... or so I had thought. I had yet to find out about Cho Aniki:
youtube
The premise of the game is that the King of the Cosmos accidentally knocks out all of the stars in the sky during a drunken bender.  So he tasks his son, the tiny Prince, to reconstruct the galaxy using an object called a “katamari” to roll up random objects on Earth, which are then converted into new stars.
The concept of the game would be horrifying if not for the bright, colorful cartoony graphics and overall zany tone of the game thanks to a bombastic, and frankly superb, soundtrack.  Seriously, the Katamari Damacy soundtrack is one of the best video game soundtracks of all time.  Listen to that main theme and tell me it doesn’t want to make you push a giant ball around town to roll up as many objects possible!
By the way, in case you were wondering, “Katamari Damacy” roughly translates to “clump spirit”, although “spirit” in this context means “enthusiasm” (like “team spirit”).  Neat, huh?
The objective of each level is to finish rolling up a katamari to the desired specs within a time limit.  At the beginning of the game you start off small, rolling up objects as small as thumbtacks to as big as a small cat.  Eventually, though, as the game gets more challenging, you start off small but have to roll up a katamari as large as a house.  This can be tricky to pull off, as bumping to objects bigger than you can knock things off your katamari or bump you across the level.  The key is to be in constant movement, exploring as much of the level as possible, and revisiting old areas as your ball gets bigger and you are able to roll up larger objects.
That’s really all there is to it.
It wasn’t so simple for me back when I first played it though, as I was usually drunk at a friend’s house, playing it during a party because I used to be a Level 4 Introvert (which is a high level wherein you bring books or video games to social events, like parties, weddings, or funerals, so you don’t have to talk to people).  Now I’d say I’m a solid... Level 2.  I don’t bring stuff like that to social gatherings, but I still occasionally sequester myself in a dark corner and don’t talk to anybody.  I’d say that’s progress!
Anyway, Katamari Damacy still holds up and is as weirdly delightful as ever.

Savin’s Answers from Twitter, Part 4!
Still catching up on the backlog; this post covers tweets from May 2018 through October 2018
As always, tweets are in order from most to least recent, and answers are not 100% true/canon since things may change during production of the sequel. Text is unedited save for formatting; in a few places I added [comments] for context.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Also: If you’re going to ask Savin something, please be respectful and appropriate. He’s a person just like you and me.
@jeltezandberg1: I also hope the dutch dub would be re-released on blue ray. Because the dutch DVD version was never fully released ,except for the first volume. The reason for it was because the publisher responsible for the dutch DVD version went bankrupt.
@EiffelSavin: Not cool. We'll see what we can do but unfortunately we don't own the rights to that dub
(x)
@RedVioletPanda: I'm wondering, does Aikka have any other family besides his parents? Also does Spirit have a family or not?‏
@EiffelSavin: If we produce the spinoff you'll have your answer regarding Aikka
(x)
@GaulStg2713: I watched a few episodes back when Oban first aired, and recently I just finished binge-watching the whole thing and now I've learned about this! Awesome! (Is it too much to ask for a heroic Crog guy in this one? I love their design and was sad the only Crog we got were jerks.)‏
@EiffelSavin: I agree with you. If we do produce a sequel your wish may be granted... 😉
(x)
@ILOVE659709491: I’m curious if Maya had not died in a racing crash but had still died due to illness or in a way DW couldn’t blame himself for, would Don Wei still have abandoned Eva and have the same severe reaction to Maya’s death even if it wasn’t in a racing crash, or would DW
‏@ILOVE659709491: have raised Eva & maybe remarry and not have as severe a reaction to Maya’s death but actually move on from it sooner if Maya had not died in a racing crash?
@EiffelSavin: I don't think he would have abandonned Eva if Maya hadn't died a crash. She died while racing for his team. That made him feel directly responsible.
(x)
@Helloworld1012: Sounds interesting. Also, I have to ask regarding OSR 2 has a plotline already been decided?
@EiffelSavin: Yes. We're moving ahead very slowly, but we do have a pretty good idea of where we want to take the new show
(x)
@Dmitry14846442: I wonder if the full version of "Never say Never" exists at all.
@EiffelSavin: Not sure.... ABC family made me listen to it before they chose it but I don't remember how long it was. If it wasn't intended to be released as a single, then there's probably only the short version though.
(x)
@AshBashS_: Ever thought about setting up a type of Kickstarter or patreon? I know those who love the series would like to help out any way they can.
@EiffelSavin: That's certainly an option for a bluray release, a pilot or some early development.
@EpicLoneDreamer: Man... Still hard to understand how geniuses can be broke. The sequel is written already? OMG. What about two queens? 11 years waiting!
[note: AFAIK Savin hasn’t said anything about the sequel’s script being finished]
@EiffelSavin: I must bear the blame for some of it, with zero talent for brown nosing & for choosing projects that stand a little out of the ordinary. Another part can be put on the production system, especially in France, which tends to favor doing the same safe stuff over and over again...
(x)
@penguin_elder: the second question  why did jordan easily submit to the idea of becoming avatar, seeing from his actions he wanted to be with molly ithought he would be the first one to disagree on such a big responsibility.keep doing what your doing you're fan from the middleeast
@EiffelSavin: Jordan had sort of a predisposition as he gradually realized Eva didn't have the same feelings for him that he had. Then came a rare chance to save the galaxy, even if it meant losing all he had been. Jordan took it. Cause that's the kind of guy he is & also out of <3 for Eva...
(x)
@Helloworld1012: I’m now super curious, in ep 17 Mrs Stern said something about Eva being capable of stealing from a shop of leaving a hotel room without paying for it. So I’m curious, Is Eva actually capable of stealing or leaving a hotel room without paying for it? I had she
@Helloworld1012: actually done that before? I know Eva’s rebellious, but I can also see she’s a bit of a ”goody-two-shoes.” So I’m curious is Eva actually capable of breaking the law
‏@EiffelSavin: Well, it's the evil headmistress speaking so we can't take her words for granted. But she does hint that during previous attempts to escape from her boarding school Eva may have not always strictly stuck to the law.
(x)
@TengIlar: Hey, guys! There are no announcements, no arts, no teasers, no trailers, no news - nothing at all! Are you still alive? #OSR #OBAN #oban_star_racers
@EiffelSavin: Alive but dealing with a number of different projects, not all related in animation in my case. If you really want to know, I've just spent two weeks leaving in the streets to do research on the lifes of homeless teenagers for one of these projects.
@Helloworld1012: Out of curiosity what project is that?
@EiffelSavin: A project about young punks surviving in the streets with their dogs. But I won't say anymore for the time being. It's very much a work in progress.
(x)
@MassimoJPN: I just got to know about the Blue-Ray project of OSR and I'm incredibly excited now !! Is there any chance that there is gonna be the german voice acting on the discs as well ? I would even get it without, but the old voices are childhood memories ! :)
@EiffelSavin: We should have French, English and Japanese. German is more problematic as we don't own the rights to that version.
(x)
@LiveforOban: I’m curious, do all star race teams managers own their own race team like Don Wei does, or do most star-race managers work for someone else & don’t own their own race team? Also, the show made it clear that when he was Maya’s manager Don Wei worked with only one
@LiveforOban: racer at a time & that his team used only one star-racer at a time, so why is it that in 2082, Wei Race has several star racers?
@EiffelSavin: There are other managers/owners like Don Wei but most teams were not able to survive without the support of a larger parent company. Remaining a relatively small team in terms of funds, Don Wei has usually concentrated all his means & efforts on one top racer: Maya then Rick.
@LiveforOban: So I’m guessing Maya was his first racer.
@EiffelSavin: yes
(x)
@ILOVE659709491: I know Maya was considered to be a beautiful young woman, but I’m curious when he was younger did women consider Don Wei to be a handsome man? In 2082 is Don Wei considered attractive?‏
@EiffelSavin: Don Wei was not bad looking but was no Don Juan either. His charm came from his intelligence and well as from the power of his dream to succeed in the racing business. That's probably what touched handsome Maya.
@ILOVE659709491: What does not bad looking even mean? Does that mean he was fairly attractive? Because I need more clarification on that.‏
@EiffelSavin: I mean not ugly by any means but not someone you'd turn around to look at when his walking down the street - unlike Maya.
(x)
@LiteMorgan: What’s the plan with the theme music? Aware there were a bunch of versions - Japanese, French, Japanese remix for most of EU, and the American version.
@EiffelSavin: We should have the original Yoko Kanno version + the french version as bonus. US version is less probable as we do not own the rights.
(x)
@EiffelSavin: Today I recovered the digital copies of  #ObanStarRacers' Japanese master tapes. We'll hopefully add the Japanese language tracks to our planned #bluray release !
@firechikara: Awesome! I hope you'll include the different Opening Theme (apparently from what I've seen, there's a short and long version) as a bonus.
@EiffelSavin: yes!
(x)
@ArkantosRedwolf: Do you have by any chance the Latin American dub? That would be the mother of all nostalgia if you could added to the bluray release.
@EiffelSavin: We'll try but this may be more difficult to obtain. We do not own the latin dub and had no direct part in their recording.
(x)
@Helloworld1012: I’m still really curious, but in ep 18 Maya was wearing a traditional Chinese dress during her date with DW and I’ve noticed her racing uniform resembles a Chinese dress, so is Maya from China or at the very least Chinese?‏
@EiffelSavin: I think I already answered that. Don Wei's origins are only hinted at but for me he's of Chinese origin and Maya isn't. Regarding the dress that was just to please Don. That beeing said anyone is free to interpret the series as he likes and make it his own 😊
(x)
@LiveforOban: Why did Don Wei have such a severe reaction to Maya’s death? No matter how much he loved her & no matter how brutal her death, Don’s reaction was to severe. Considering his personality changed he abandoned his kid & tried to forget his past.
@EiffelSavin: Extreme love can lead to extreme consequences. Romeo killed himself after Juliette killed herself. Don Wei's reaction to Maya's death was a little less radical but the idea is the same. He couldn't bare to leave without her all the more as he felt responsible for her death.
@LiveforOban: Doesn’t that basically mean Don Was obsessed with Maya?
@EiffelSavin: Yes, but in a good way - at least until she died. These two really loved each other and formed a perfect family before drama struck.
(x)
@vaatil: watching Oban with the pals for the first time, we re on episode three and i loVE RICK‏
@EiffelSavin: And rightly so - Rick is the top bad ass dude! 😉
(x)
@Helloworld1012: I'm curious, since their in the concept art but Are Aikka and Eva going to return as major characters in the sequel/spinoff? Also, I'm curious but what will happen to Aikka when he returns to Nourasia? If I'm not mistaken the Crogs are still in control of his planet,
@Helloworld1012: And he's already done several things in the race to risk banishment.‏
@EiffelSavin: Yes, but there's also a new Avatar now, which should change things a bit - or do they? 🙂
(x)
@ILOVE659709491: Did Kanaletto manipulate Eva’s life from the moment she was born? In episode 26 Kanaletto States so himself that for centuries he manipulated time just so he could find Eva & use her.‏
@EiffelSavin: Correct.
(x)
@djinni0024: I know you aren't on Twitter much, but for the sequel, do you guys plan on making it have a darker theme, with more adult tones to it? Most of us (that being your original fan audience) are well in our 20s-30s.
@EiffelSavin: That would be ideal, but it depends on who will finance us
(x)
@NoelCT: Beautiful work, as always. I've been excited to see 2 Queens for years. I'm sorry it's still taking so long to come together, but thankful you haven't given up on it.
@EiffelSavin: Haven't given hope! Actually currently looking for a new character designer to start over on a slightly different direction.
(x)
@KananJarrus: Would be awesome if the #ObanStarRacers Soundtrack got a re-release, for people (like me) who missed out on it years ago. Great, high quality soundtrack @EiffelSavin‏
@EiffelSavin: One of our plans with the Bluray release is to add all existing tracks as a potential bonus (and there's around 85 of them).
(x)
@Helloworld1012: I’m curious since it got to me, that during her time in the boarding school Eva most have done things besides drawing & mechanics to pass the time, but Does Eva like to read? & if so what kind of books did she like to read? Also in ep 18 I noticed Maya wore a chinese dress during her date with Don, is Maya from china or Chinese?
@EiffelSavin: Don Wei's surname implies that he's of Chinese origin, which would make Eva half Chinese. [Implying Maya isn’t Chinese]
@RyanMoate: I can imagine that if Eva read it would be articles about her father's racing career and probably manuals considering she built the rocket seat.‏
@EiffelSavin: Yes, a mechanical geek. Plus she loves hardcore techno - the best way for her to relieve her stress and teenage angst!
(x) (x)
[In response to Catsuka posting the OSR pilot]
@copperfield42: wow, it [Molly Star Racer] looked more silly that the final product...
@EiffelSavin: All the main ideas were in the pilot, but it was a little more comedy oriented and aimed at a slightly younger target audience. As we developed the world and the characters, we fond a new and more fitting equilibrium for the show.
(x)
@ILOVE659709491: I know there are other possibilities for DW's background, but I just want to know, could the theory that Don Wei was born to a high-class family in China, but that DW turned his back on the life he knew when he eloped with Maya also be a possible background for Don?
@EiffelSavin: Choose as you prefer. But bear in mind that you don't need to have been born in the "upper class" to want to behave like someone from the "upper class".
(x)
@Alix_Mei: One question, this series going to be in Netflix?
@EiffelSavin: too soon to say
(x)
@RedVioletPanda: Now that I'm thinking of it, would the Nourasians Knights be similiar to Shaolin practictioners @EiffelSavin ?
@EiffelSavin: Not a bad comparison. They both have strong training, both physical and mental, with the addition of magical training for Nourasian Knights.
(x)
@fictionjustis: Is DW’s grey hair due to stress & grief and has nothing to do with his age? In the flashbacks where Maya is alive DW seems to be in his 20s + DW and Maya seem to be the same age. Maya was only 28 when she died, meaning Eva was born when DW was in his early 20s‏
@EiffelSavin: Don Wei is a little older than Maya and more in his forties at the start the show. But stress may have also played a part
@fictionjustis: I’m curious, a little older is so vague. So does that mean Don Wei is only 2 years older than Maya or that his 5-10 years older than Maya? How many years of an age difference did Don & Maya have?‏
@EiffelSavin: I don't have my old notes with me but it was probably around 10 years older, or something close
@fictionjustis: Really, because they don’t look that far in age.
@EiffelSavin: May have been a little less but in real life it's often hard to tell if someone is 25 or 30. In animation, with stylised designs, it's even harder. The acting and body language play a big part.
(x)
@ILOVE659709491: Maya seems to influence Don Wei the same way Eva influences Aikka. Is it possible that though she didn’t introduce him to racing Maya may have encouraged Don Wei to follow his dreams & be a race manager even though it meant going against his parents wishes & expecta- -tions of him? Also DW has a strong comparison with Aikka is it possible that like Aikka DW came from a high-class family that placed high expectations on him?
@EiffelSavin: The main point these two have in common is that they had feelings for their partner or friend. Regarding Maya, it was more her parents who were against her becoming a racer. Not exactly what any parent would have in mind for their beloved daughter

A Galaxy Next Door:  dopo  Sweetness and Lightning anche il nuovo manga di Gido Amagakure si prepara a diventare anime
La sere animata targata Asahi Production andrà in onda nel 2023.
Tumblr media
Kodansha ha annunciato la produzione di una serie animata basata su “Otonari ni Ginga” (A Galaxy Next Door), la nuova commedia sentimentale firmata da Gido Amagakure, autrice di “Amaama to Inazuma” (Sweetness and Lightning), apprezzata commedia slice of life sbarcata in tv nel 2016 con un anime, che è possibile recuperare in streaming su Crunchyroll.
L’adattamento diretto da Ryuichi Kimura (Aikatsu! Kemono Friends 2), presso ASAHI PRODUCTION (Peach Boy Riverside, Heaven's Design Team), debutterà in Giappone nel corso del 2023. La sceneggiatura è affidata a Gigaemon Ichikawa (The Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made), mentre come character designer troviamo Fuyuka Otaki.
Parlando del cast, i due protagonisti, Ichiro Kuga e Shiori Goshiki, saranno interpretati rispettivamente da Taku Yashiro (Kudd in The Dawn of the Witch) e Yuu Wakui (Yoko Nishikawa in Sansha Sanyo).
Il manga è stato lanciato sulla rivista Good! Afternoon nell’aprile 2020 e ad ora conta tre volumi.
