I did "feel" him, which is exactly why I just had to use my experience as a therapist to help this poor man. After providing counseling for several months, I noticed a substantial boost in Doug's confidence and his emotional maturity was on a steady incline. He doesn't squirm when I present him with pictures of spiders anymore. I'm really very proud. Doug would later say: "A'ight dude, so like, the thing is about spiders n' shit is that they way more scurred of you than you are of them. Nomsayin'? So, like, it ain't even a big deal, bro. Me and spiders are homies now, feel me?" And as before, I did indeed "feel" him. Doug passed away in May of 1976, just a few months after our last session, from multiple spider bites to the face and genitals. He was 69 years old. Nice.
