La lista de manga (y webtoon, supongo) que estuve comprando/leyendo en Agosto 2024
Iba a poner fotos de lo que compré y así, pero a la mera hora... (puede que las suba al editar el post luego).
Qué compré:
Undead Unluck (Yoshifumi Tozuka), vol 15-17
Dungeon Meshi (Ryoko Kui), vol 6
A Sign of Affection (suu Morishita), vol 7
Umimachi Diary (Akimi Yoshida), vol 8-9
Mr. Villain's Day Off (Yuu Morikawa), vol 1
Frieren (Kanehito Yamada, Tsukasa Abe), vol 1
Nuestra Salvaje Juventud (Mari Okada, Nao Emoto) vol 6
Qué leí:
Umimachi Diary (Akimi Yoshida), vol. 8-9
Given (Natsuki Kizu), vol 7
Undead Unluck (Yoshifumi Tozuka), vol 15
A Sign of Affection (suu Morishita), vol. 5-6
Mr. Villain's Day Off (Yuu Morikawa), vol. 1
Nuestra Salvaje Juventud (Mari Okada, Nao Emoto) vol 6
Kamisama Kiss (Julietta Suzuki), vol 3
Hellbound (Yeon Sangho, Choi Gyuseok), vol 2
Incluyo webtoons como My Little Bookstore (Webtoon US) y Triple Nacional (Webtoon LATAM)

Now starting the first half of 5D's.
Atsuhiro Tomioka, our Lord, and Saviour, did the following episodes:
**Episodes 1-8.
**Episodes 13-15.
**Episode 22.
For the first Season, Episodes 1-26 (Facility episodes, and Fortune Cup), Tomioka was the main writer, but the actual amount of episodes he did is quite small, since he was busy with Pokémon Diamond & Pearl animé at the time.
Due to Tomioka's non-presence, Shin Yoshida, and Yasuyuki Suzuki, two previous veteran writers, had to take his place, and two in-between writers, Yoshifumi Fukushima, and Shuichi Koyama (who is only credited for Episode 16, for his entire career, we don't know what other works he was involved) are brought in.
Fukushima will remain in 5D's for a while (though won't be involved in Dark Signers arc), and be part of ZEXAL, and ARC-V writing staff as well, though his involvement in those will be smaller than 5D's. He will only be involved in S2 of ARC-V because he was previously involved in 5D's, and he was the only writer from 5D's they could bring back in ARC-V.
Though not a credited for any of the episodes, Koji Ueda, who will write episodes in S2, the Dark Signers arc, is still involved in S1, writing the lyrics of ED1.
Of course, the elephant in the room is the director Katsumi Ono, whose influence in S1 would be the strongest. Since Tomioka wasn't present for all of S1, Ono was presumably the one who kept things consistent. This is presumably part of why Tomioka left the series, and franchise overall after this brief, but memorable involvement.
Given their stylistic differences, Tomioka's involvement probably was an executive demand, rather than something Ono desired. There are couple of reasons for this, but need to discuss why 5D's is a bit different than previous two series.
**First off, this the first YGO series that drops the "Duel Monsters" title in Japan. This is presumably because of the Riding Duels, but this will become standard as it was in the West. Despite this, 5D's is not a soft-reboot like ZEXAL, it is just stylistically very different.
**Secondly, this is the first time a "Master Rule" was introduced. While ruling changes were nothing new, this began the tradition of each series introducing its own rule changes, and associated Summoning methods.
**This meant, alongside 5D's era card text format changes in OCG (Tribute Summon becoming Advance Summon for censorship reasons, for example), this series, unlike GX, needed to be closer to OCG rules, rather than late-series DM era rules. So for example, no face-up Defense Position Normal Summons. Riding Duels of course would bypass these rules, but they would do so by being self-consistent.
All of these meant a writer who could be consistent with Duel rules, and still come up a proper narrative. Tomioka already proven himself in his work in Pokémon Advanced Generation, and Diamond & Pearl, so he was likely brought in as the golden child who could no wrong.
Junki Takegami, another veteran Pokémon writer, was already the main writer for most of the manga-based episodes of DM, and main writer of the first three Seasons of GX, and later on Aya Matsui, another veteran female Pokémon writer, would be brought in SEVENS onward. So this is not a new concept for YGO, nor will this be the last.
Of course, Tomioka wouldn't stick, and come back to Pokémon eventually, so Dark Signers arc would require all three veteran YGO writers, Yoshida, Suzuki, and Ueda, come back in full force.
Tomioka's initial run for the first 8 episodes without interruption is also impressive, as most of the YGO writers are only really involved in one multi-part Duel, and its associated episodes. Though Shin Yoshida managed to this in Season 4 of DM, the Doma arc, he only managed to do so with having the 6-part Dartz Duel, and its two-part conclusion. Tomioka did it without any previous involvement in YGO.
This also makes me rather amused, as Tomioka's decision to be involved here almost destroyed Diamond & Pearl with overly long gap to Snowpoint City arc, and 5D's with the remaining three veteran writers being stuck with Takahashi's extremely high concept ideas for Dark Signers arc. This is also part of the reason why in WRGP, various Gundam writers are brought in, since without Takahashi's ideas, and Tomioka's involvement, there wasn't elsewhere they could go.

Be happy we don’t play FFXIV on Korean servers
There’s a post on Reddit this evening. The Korean servers are doing a “forced merger” -- combining eight servers into four. Because of how housing is handled there, 50% of players are having their houses destroyed. They’ll get their gil back, but their houses and airships are gone, no choice.
Story about it, but in Korean: http://www.ff14.co.kr/news/notice/detail.asp?id=86866
You think Balmung’s housing situation is bad? On the Korean servers: “The total number of plots to be removed from the game is 2160 and that's one quarter of all plots across all servers.”
A Korean player’s (avdelua on Reddit) write up of the situation behind the break.
Hi I am a user who is playing on Final Fantasy X Korea server. I am not accustomed to Japanese and English, so I have translated this eagle using Google Translate.
This is an article about the ongoing work on Korean servers recently.
On the day of 2017.01.2010, the Korean server management team made a "one-sided" notification that the existing 6 servers would be integrated into 3 servers because the number of users is uneven. This is not the sole decision of Identity Mobile, the Korean server operator, but the entire operation of Global Server and Final Fantasy It is accomplished under the approval of Yoshida Podi managing.
Currently, Korean servers have 8 zones each, including an expansion zone for each server. Therefore, it is impossible to consolidate all the users' housings, "Forcibly demolish" the housing of the server's 5-8 zone and compensate for the extra way to the gil at the time of purchase of the housing Announced today.
Without notifying the user of the problem in advance, we will proceed with integration on the next three weeks And that they will not listen to users.
Also, these housings, which are now forcibly dismissed, are aimed at eliminating the existing imbalance of users Long-term users who have been already forced to move to another server's 5-8 zone while doing server consolidation If it is a housing and the low-level (gil) spreads on the server in a moment, I think all users will know.
On October 24, 2016, Yoshida Pedi was asked at the North American Pen Festival.
"Q. If you have a small population of players in the future, are you thinking about server consolidation?"
At this time, Yoshida
A. In Patch 3.5, a party recruitment beyond the world will be implemented. This allows you to enjoy chatting or specific content, even if your world is different. FFXIV is getting closer to Worldless. If it seems to affect the party organization until now, I will review the integration of the world positively. However, it is a last resort because it is desirable to keep the housing and the free company. I answered.
In addition, Yoshida Pedia has mentioned this in column # 3 of the previous Feminist Yoshifumi p.
"Your character data or property in the game is not just the data formed by 0s and 1s Because memories and time and colleagues are short-lived,
Yoshida pd, who had been doing such a thing, I do not think it would have been easy enough. I would like to believe that there was a lot of negotiation process and it was the conclusion that really came out as the best choice.
But we can not hear any detailed explanation, explanation, memories with many people, I am in crisis to forcefully demolish the housing.
I do not desire much. I really do not know if this was the best choice I want to know if a reasonable decision has been made and why I have done so with only one-sided notification.
I want to know.
You might think that this is just another server's thing But think again about what this is about to happen to you now Please be interested in the current situation of Korean servers.

Anyway, let's talk ZEXAL I S3.
This season has:
**Yasuyuki Suzuki: 6/24, including the season finale (which is also series finale for ZEXAL I)
**Tsutomu Kamishiro: 8/24
**Shin Yoshida: 8/24
**Yoshifumi Fukushima: 2/24.
As we discussed before, Fukushima, and Kamishiro will leave ZEXAL for ARC-V. Suzuki, and Yoshida will remain.
This is certainly the least involved Yoshida is in ZEXAL I, though I haven't double checked ZEXAL II.
There are only 4 writers here, much like S1, but of course, two of them will leave.
This is probably Tsutomu Kamishiro's big break in YGO, since in terms of episode count he is basically the secondary main writer here, and the reason why he became the main writer of ARC-V. Though he will leave the franchise after that.
Though Suzuki will be involved in ARC-V S2, he too will leave the franchise after this, same goes for Fukushima, IIRC. So basically, in this group, only Yoshida is still around, for OCG Stories manga.
Yoshida's relative lack of involvement (which will continue to ZEXAL II), probably has to do with the fact that he was also doing the ZEXAL manga.
Edit (17 December, 2023): Suzuki will leave the franchise after ZEXAL II. I was wrong.

Tumour-associated macrophages are associated with poor prognosis and programmed death ligand 1 expression in oesophageal cancer
Publication date: April 2019
Source: European Journal of Cancer, Volume 111
Author(s): Taisuke Yagi, Yoshifumi Baba, Kazuo Okadome, Yuki Kiyozumi, Yukiharu Hiyoshi, Takatsugu Ishimoto, Masaaki Iwatsuki, Yuji Miyamoto, Naoya Yoshida, Masayuki Watanabe, Yoshihiro Komohara, Hideo Baba
Abstract
Introduction
Tumour-associated macrophages (TAMs) in tumour microenvironments promote cancer cell proliferation, immunosuppression and angiogenesis, leading to tumour growth and metastasis. TAMs have become increasingly recognised as a cancer therapy target, such as in combination therapy with an immunity checkpoint inhibitor. However, the clinical and prognostic features of TAMs, and the relationship between TAMs and programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1), remain unexplored in oesophageal cancer.
Methods
Using a non-biased database of 305 resected oesophageal cancer preparations, we evaluated the expression of two M2-like macrophage markers (CD163 and CD204) and PD-L1 on tumour cells by immunostaining. Through in vitro assays, we examined how TAMs influence phenotypic malignancy and PD-L1 expression.
Results
High density of CD163 (n = 160) or CD204 (n = 146) was associated with significantly worse overall survival than low expression (log rank P = 0.0025 and 0.018 for CD163 and CD204, respectively). The prognostic effect of TAMs was not significantly modified by any clinical factors (P > 0.05 for all interactions). High TAM density was significantly associated with increased PD-L1 expression. In in vitro assays, cell invasion and migration ability were significantly more upregulated in oesophageal cancer cell lines cocultured with activated macrophages than in control cell lines. Coculture with activated macrophages elevated the PD-L1 expression in cancer cells.
Conclusions
High TAM density in oesophageal cancer tissues was associated with shorter survival, suggesting a prognostic biomarker role for TAMs. TAMs also increase PD-L1 expression in tumour cells. Given the significant interest in cancer immunotherapies targeting TAMs and PD-L1, the current findings should have considerable clinical implications.

Japan's Top Game Creators List Titles They'd Like SNES Classic to Have
With the SNES Classic now available in multiple regions—including Japan with the Super Famicom Mini—there are definitely going to be folks chiming in on games they think are missing from the list.
  Even Hideo Kojima has one!
I was able to buy SUPER FAMICOM. http://pic.twitter.com/H1ItmtUFGu
— HIDEO_KOJIMA (@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN) October 6, 2017
The mini-console already comes with 21 titles pre-loaded, but that didn't stop Famitsu from checking in with some of Japan's top game developers to see what they would add.
It's interesting to see what games some of the devs went with, especially those who think a little outside the box. Unfortunately, Japan's version didn't come with Mother 2, AKA EarthBound, so that made the cut for Capcom's Ryozo Tsujimoto and Kaname Fujioka (Monster Hunter, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker).
Also of particular note for some will be Final Fantasy's Yoshinori Kitase, who picked… Sim City? Sure, why not! ActRaiser made the list a few times thanks to Atlus' Kazuyuki Yamai (Shin Megami Tensei IV), Tecmo Koei's Yosuke Hayashi (Ninja Gaiden Sigma), and Marvelous' Kenichiro Takaki (Senran Kagura). And if you ever wanted to know what SNES titles the PlatinumGames heroes truly adore, producer Atsushi Inaba chose Chrono Trigger, while outspoken director Hideki Kamiya picked Cybernator.
Here's the full list, via Kotaku:
Daisuke Ishiwatari (Arc System Works) - Otogiriso
Toshimichi Mori (Arc System Works) - Xardion

World Heart Day
Cardiovascular benefits, and heart health forest walking
Heart health forest walking
Heart health outdoor forest walking. Heart Cloud
What are your body’s bio rhythms?  Are you in tune with the rising and the setting of the sun?  Are you aware of the season change and the equinox on your body?  Living in urban centres in the industrialized world have removed the majority of the population from the forest, the electrical light have de-sensitized the body to the cycles of daylight, our heart and cardiovascular system work in tune to clocks, calendar schedules, and a face paced life to meet deadlines.  Where is the time spent breathing slowly and deeply and becoming attune to the rhythm and flow of our bodies in the forest?  Who re-charges their hearts and bodies at day break with a saunter in the woods?  Who winds down the day with a relaxing stroll through the forest to ready the mind-body for sleep?  Do you know when the next full moon or new moon is?
Studies have proven that walking in the forest has cardiovascular benefits.  Hospital gardens,  Shinrin-Yoku or forest bathing researchers are all finding calming, relaxing benefits on the cardiovascular system as compared to those walking a brick and ashpalt urban setting.
““We performed field experiments in four different local areas to evaluate the physiological benefits of forest walking. Our data indicated that the forest walking program has a positive influence on cardiovascular relaxation.””…”participants felt more comfortable, soothed, and natural after forest walking than after urban walking both before and after activities,” stated researchers from Finland, Japan and Korea
“Time spent walking and relaxing in a forest environment (“forest bathing” or “forest therapy”) has well demonstrated anti-stress effects in healthy adults… Blood pressure and several physiological and psychological indices of stress were measured the day before and approximately 2 h following forest therapy… Systolic and diastolic blood pressure (BP), urinary adrenaline, and serum cortisol were all significantly lower than baseline following forest therapy … Subjects reported feeling significantly more “relaxed” and “natural” ” Researchers
Polizzi states that the Journal of Alternative And Complimentary Medicine, walking barefoot “reduces blood viscosity, which is a major factor in cardiovascular disease”.  Yoga practitioners practice cleansing  throughout the body by walking barefoot.
Prayer of the Woods “I am the heat of your hearth on the cold winter nights, the friendly shade screening you from the summer sun, and my fruits are refreshing draughts quenching your thirst as you journey on. I am the beam that holds your house, the board of your table, the bed on which you lie, and the timber that builds your boat. I am the handle of your hoe, the door of your homestead, the wood of your cradle, and the shell of your coffin. I am the bread of kindness and the flower of beauty. ‘Ye who pass by, listen to my prayer: Harm me not.” – Portuguese legend
Have you every cared for your heart by planning a walk in the forest?  Have you ever turned on your phone app and plotted a nature trail where you have wandered to share with others?  What about You Tube?  Have you ever filmed your walk, and uploaded your movie to YouTube to share the beauty of the natural forest you visited?  Help others to discover nature, to heal their heart, just by telling your story.   \Add your forest story to the 150 forest story compilation today!
“We believe in the innate intelligence of the villagers, the country men and the workers, that they should be allowed to manage their own affairs. We believe they will put into their work not merely their hands and their feet, but their brains and their hearts. Each can experience the transcendental joy of creation, and can earn immortality and bestow immortality.” ~Richard St. Barbe Baker

So Episode 29.
Though Yoshida would later take credit in creating Anna, her debut episode is written by Yoshifumi Fukushima, who won't stick around for ZEXAL II. Yoshida will later alter his characterization to fit his interpretation.
In Yoshifumi Fukushima's initial interpretation, Anna was a big sis type girl that protected other girls from guys, but was also apparently something of an high class ojou behind the scenes (similar to Mai-Asuka). The guy she had a crush on was a different guy, name Yuya Tsukune, though she will develop a crush on Yuma later on.
She would later on become the "main" female Duelist of ZEXAL, though in series proper, that role is given to Rio, who won't retain it after the show's airing, because of the Barian twist.
Since Anna doesn't have a Heart Piece, her debut episode is only present to showcase her, and feature the first Rank 10 monster in animé.
This episode is quite fanservice filled, in both meanings of the word. Anna's design very sexualised, and she serves as a comic relief initially. There is a brief static shot where Yuma, and Kotori are disguised as Robin Fuya (which explains why Yoshida will later pair Anna with him), and earlier on, Yuma holds Kotori's hand for a ship tease moment.
Snow Plow Hustle Rustle was originally a Special Summon Monster, much like Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, but it is made into a regular monster with a Special Summon effect in OCG version.
Edit: This episode is also Temtempo's debut.

Before we move to the S2, let's discuss the structure a bit.
Shin Yoshida has written 9/24 of the episodes, Tsutomu Kamishiro has written 5/24 of the episodes, Toshimitsu Takeuchi has written 1/24, Yoshifumi Fukushima has written 3/24, Kenichi Yamashita has written 3/24 of the episodes, Yasuyuki Suzuki has written 3/24 of the episodes.
As we discussed before, Tsutomu Kamishiro will become the main writer of ARC-V (he had no prior involvement with YGO before ZEXAL), and Toshimitsu Takeuchi will become the main writer of SEVENS, and GO RUSH!! (IIRC, also had no prior involvement with YGO until this very singular episode).
Kenichi Yamashita will leave the franchise after this season, Yoshifumi Fukushima will only be involved in S2 ARC-V after ZEXAL I.
Both Tsutomu Kamishiro, and Yoshifumi Fukushima will leave after ZEXAL I's end.
Of this batch, only Yoshida, and Yasuyuki Suzuki will be involved in ZEXAL II.
*****
Much like how Kaito was the antagonist of Season 1, III will be the final boss of this season, which will inspire ARC-V's S1 structure (with Reiji being the pseudo-antagonist for first half of S1, and Sora being an actual antagonist for S1 finale/second half of S1).
Droite & Gauche will be sort of mid-bosses of this Season.
The only major recurring character that isn't initially an antagonist introduced in this season will be Anna, who will be our final non-Barian/initially-an-antagonist main cast member.
The overall structure of S2 will begin with one-off Duelists, then move on to Number Holders, and Gauche & Nistro, and Arclight family, though the actual episode order will be much more scrambled, due to many writers working on this season (6 in total, though only 5 main ones).
Remaining 4 ones will be involved in S3, and ZEXAL II will have only have two of these 4. Due to many writers being involved here, the characterizations, and the overall pacing will be quite scrambled. Explains why this segment of ZEXAL isn't fondly remembered, though in terms of production of the future series this section is actually quite important (perhaps one of the most important seasons), due to 2 main writers getting their start here, and serving as the explanation as to why many others left the show, and eventually the franchise.
The first part of this season is also important, because it will be the blueprint for one-off episodes in Rush Duel based series.
So yeah, the structure of this season, its production, intention behind the episodes, and writers conflict it will create are more important than the season itself.

Watching first episode of ZEXAL feels weird. Some observations:
**Number 17: Leviathan Dragon's Japanese is Levias Dragon, but due to its Katakana spelling, it is supposed to reference the previous Vice Dragons, Jack's Vice Dragon, and Fujiwara's Clear Vice Dragon. This sets up Shark's role as one of major rivals, and technically being one of the final bosses.
***The "Vice" Katakana would also be referenced in Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss.
**Yuma's parents being archeologists is likely based off popular fanon about Yugi's father (Bakura's grandpa, was, of course, an actual one).
**Though the early ZEXAL runs on the idea of Numbers possesing people, later series retcon suggests the voice in Shark's mind was Don Thousand, hence purple lightning when Leviathan Dragon attack.
***This is also likely the lore behind Rebarian Shark.
**Though the early series has Yuma releasing Numbers from The Door of Contract, we later find out that these were scattered around already. This is obviously a retcon from the pilot, though a necessary one, otherwise the plot would be weird.
***I can't count all the Numbers, but I'm guessing there were around 50 ones surrounding Yuma, which explains the later reveal/retcon of half of Numbers belonging to Don Thousand, at least in the animé continuity (since OCG side will likely make alternate versions of manga Numbers eventually).
**That one Emperor's Key throne that keeps popping around fanart was apparently from ED1, obviously doesn't appear in the show itself.
***Yuma's pose there is supposed to reference Atem in Memory World, but in the series proper, that pose is of course used for Nasch instead.
**OP1/ED1 doesn't spoil much, it doesn't seem like they had a big idea on how the show would work initially. Most of the shots are just concept animation.
***Considering the Seasonal structure of the show, first Season (ie. first 25 episodes) was likely written in one go, then the next 24, and then the next 24. So outside of Kaito, there isn't anyone that is a big deal, except Number 96, who won't be relevant until ZEXAL II.
****We will discuss this more in detail, but apparently Shin Yoshida wrote 14 of the 25 episodes of first Season, Yoshifumi Fukushima wrote 5 of 25 episodes (Tokunosuke/Flip two-parter, Yuma & Shark tag Duel, Number 96 debut with Tetsuo), Yasuyuki Suzuki wrote 4 of 25 (Cathy episode, Yamikawa two parter, Oobomi episode), and Kenichi Yamashita wrote 2 of 25 (Jin/Fortuno two-parter):
**Yuma's VA really doesn't have the voice for the character in the first episode. It will get better, of course.
Either way, I wonder how many dropped plot points that people speculate are, and how many more we won't ever know. Since ZEXAL was supposed to be a soft-reboot, I expect tons. Emperor's Key throne thing takes the cake for now though.
Anyway, ZEXAL I sort of examplifies Shin Yoshida's preferred method of dealing with plot issues, just throwing even more characters in to distract the audience. ZEXAL II would try to avoid abusing this (since it will have less writers than ZEXAL I, as some of the writers of ZEXAL I will move on to ARC-V instead of ZEXAL II) to instead throwing even more lore, and backstory to distract the audience, which is Shin Yoshida's second preferred method.
