oh boy (wonder) ● huening kai | chapter one
Tumblr media
this work contains violence and smut, MDNI!
warnings: sound of gunshots, curse words (i don't know if this one even should be in warnings) let me know if something is missing!
+this is not a dark fic, warnings are only there because it is unavoidable in a superhero setting. but this chapter is one of the lighter chapters.
smut warnings: none
word count: around 1.4k
Tumblr media
"they say the new vigilante wondering around devil's tongue is gotham city's boy wonder." you said while chewing your pen. you were definitely stressed. all of this had a very high chance to boost your path to climbing up career stairs yet the worries you had about your city made it impossible to focus on promotion ensured with the story of blue bird that you have been working on.
"nightwing?" your co-worker fulton asked.
"yes, him. i really hope he doesn't bring gotham's curse on us. you know our crime rates are record high, we are almost as fucked up as gotham but what blüdhaven needs is not a vigilante running around. i don't think it helps gotham city, either. he should go back where he came from." you felt an urge to argue even though no one was saying anything. even confused looks towards you was covering fulton's face.
"well, tell me where do you see a problem in this? you are in need of a good story for your next sweet paycheck. and it comes by itself to you. you can still add commentary in your stories, it can gain a lot more attention but other than that, you shouldn't put your thinking cap on." he argued back, sounding like he didn't get your point at all.
you decided to avoid having a prawle with him. "whatever... i asked for pictures of him to be taken, do you have them?" you asked. "yes, i have them. you know even though you never bothered to learn my name, you have no idea how far i would go to capture pictures for your stories." he said jokingly but you knew there is no smoke without fire.
you frowned "hey, give me some credit. i of course know your name, fulton." trying to object what he said.
"that's my surname, i am talking about my first name." his protest immediately daffed by you. "is that really important? that's all the information i need for a respected co-worker." hoping he would get the hint.
"let's get working. and also we need to get read for this night. i suggest we follow him."
Tumblr media
"welcome to our precinct, rookie. you are for sure going to feel unwelcomed here but don't get scared! they will start to treat you like a human being in no time." a random officer said. kai wanted to roll his eyes. his low-key attitude was definitely not suitable to a cop his age and experience.
"no worries, i survived gotham. i am pretty sure that some socially awkward stiations isn't going to be my cause of death instead of a psychotic clown terrorizing the whole gotham." he headed to his desk after giving him a sarcastic and dismissive response.
"look at the newbie over there! he looks so dreamy!" said a senior officer who didn't look much older than kai. "is he kai kamal huening, the adopted son of bruce wayne? i heard he lost his parents when he was a kid and adopted by the billionaire playboy." they started gossiping as if kai wasn't there. "poor guy, but lucky."
kai couldn't help but smirk to those women talking about him. even though they were obstrusive, he was used to it. gossips were unavoidable if you were a wayne. it was okay as long as they didn't know the batman and robin. yet he didn't worry about it due to very limited observation skills people had.
kai started to place his belongings to his desk. this was a new beggining to him, a chance to become a different man than his surly adopted father, an identity that had nothing in common with bruce's darkness. lost in the thoughts, kai stopped thinking once he saw his captain walking towards him. he hoped that she was just coming there to welcome him. kai immeadiately stood up. but once she started talking all of his hopes was in vain. just being there to welcome him was further away from the truth with the worlds slipping out her mouth. "isn't that a great coincidence the successor of the wayne fortune started his career as a dedective with a high ranking. i will keep my eye on you. anyways i am actually here to remind you that you can take the documents for your first case from my secretary." she left without giving him a chance to reply.
he went up to secretary's desk to take the file. the secretary seemed a nice sweet girl unlike everyone else around. "oh, you are here to take the 'blue bird' files, right?" kai felt his heart racing with his luck but he managed to stay nonchalant. "yes, i guess so? isn't his name nightwing? why the file is called blue bird?" the secretary's lips slightly opened for a minute then she pressed them together before answering. "i wouldn't know, sorry." kai smiled. "no, i am sorry. i was just talking to myself. it was rude." kai explained himself. he had a feeling that she was the one he wouldn't hate to be around. "guess i better get started." he said before leading to his desk. the sweet secretary waved good bye to him, both of them forgetting to exchange names.
Tumblr media
kai wanted to give himself a break and not to go to patrol this night but later decided to do so because he was in desperate boredom due to lack of human connection he had. before he left he wanted to call barbara. his hands were about to dial the contact name 'babs<3' yet he stopped himself. if he called her, bruce would know and the last thing he needed was bruce knowing kai was alone like himself. kai was never a grumpy and serious person like bruce. he had a phase where he was constantly mad due to his parents' passing but thanks to alferd and his more open-minded and fun-loving nature. yet kai was still afraid that he someday would turn into a bruce or the batman. so no he wasn't going to call barbara and she sure could outlive few weeks without talking to him.
"god i am really hoping that the new vigilante is on a patrol this night. otherwise we are fucking up our sleeping schedules for no reason." fulton complained.
"stop whining like a baby. if i am going to be the next lois lane i need this story." you sounded stern while saying it.
"or you could be the next vick vale." his sarcasm in his voice made you sick for some reason but you didn't chew on. "or her yeah." you mumbled.
you stared at the roofs where the so called nightwing hanged out the most. what was his deal? was he really robin? if he is, why did he leave batman? you needed all those answers for your story.
suddenly you heard a gunshot. the adrenaline taking over your body, the only thing you were managed to think was whether or not if this story was worth risking your life yet you still ran toward the gun sound, coming down from the ladders as fast as you could. you were certain that it was your lucky day when you heard more gunshots coming from there. "this will definitely get nightwing's attention."
Tumblr media
a/n: i know reader and kai may seem a bit annoying but they will have character developments and kai's character may seem just dick grayson named kai but don't worry it will be a mix of kai's and dick's personalities. i added this note cuz it bothered me while reading but then i remembered my plans for this fic.

Trick or treat!
Hehehe so I'm gonna take you up on your offer to share more about those OCs I mentioned. Specifically the romantic couple (the best context I can offer you for now is that it's a marriage of convenience and I love them your honor)
“You want to know my middle name?” Kyle stared so blankly that Kate had to laugh at him.
“Hey, you’re the one who suggested getting to know each other,” she pointed out, leaning back against the couch cushions. “These are the important things in a relationship now, you know. First base is getting into a brawl at a crime scene, second base is marriage, and third base is finding out your middle name.”
He laughed, which she still wasn’t totally used to. “I’m almost positive that that’s not true, but okay. It’s Wilfred, but I’m pretty sure you heard it at the ceremony— what?”
Striving to hold back another laugh, Kate cleared her throat. “Nothing. Just, um. Wilfred?”
The expression on his face was so long suffering that she couldn’t prevent her laughter any longer as he said, “There is nothing wrong with the name Wilfred— why did I know this was going to be your reaction?”
Gasping for breath, Kate managed, “Because your middle name sounds like you’re a British archbishop.”
Kyle shook his head, the corners of his mouth curling up into a reluctant smile as he told her, “It’s really not that funny.”
“It really, really is,” Kate told him, grinning at him. He let out a half laugh, looking ruefully amused.
His gaze drifted past her, to the wide picture window behind them— and then his smile dropped away. Before Kate could even properly think to ask him what was wrong, he was moving towards her.
Crashing into her, he grabbed her and rolled them both off the couch. In the same moment, a gunshot rang out, and the window behind them shattered.
Kate hit the ground a heartbeat later, landing on her side with Kyle on top of her. He didn’t move, and she felt a spike of panic go through her. “Chambers?” He didn’t respond, and she swallowed down the fear creeping in her chest. “Kyle!”
“I’m okay,” he said, rolling off of her and landing next to her with a grunt. “Are you? And the baby—”
“Both fine,” Kate told him, praying with all her might that it was true. Nothing felt wrong, and she hoped she’d realize it if there was.
“Good,” Kyle said, his expression going from worried to serious in a heartbeat. “Stay there.”
Kate opened her mouth to argue, but he was already moving— or rather, army crawling across the living room. Reaching the coffee table, he slid under it. A few seconds later, he rolled back out, carrying a gun.
“Wha— how long has that been under there?” Kate demanded as he checked the magazine with an easy, practiced motion.
“The whole time,” he said. “I wanted to be prepared, in case of, well, this.”
As he locked it back into place, Kate caught sight of a dark stain on his arm— blood, she realized with a lurch. “You told me you were fine,” she said.
“What— I am, Kate. It just grazed me,” he assured her. “I’ll clean it later.”
Flipping onto his stomach, he crawled back over to her, and cautiously slid into a sitting position. “You stay down there.”
“I am not enjoying this,” Kate grumbled.
“I know. Pass me that pillow?”
Looking around, Kate spotted a cushion behind her. Grabbing it, she pushed it towards Kyle, who took it by the edge. “Time to see what we’re up against,” he muttered, and lobbed it into the air.
It hadn’t even reached the top of its arc when there were two sharp cracks, and the pillow exploded into a cloud of stuffing and bright fabric. Kate choked back a gasp of shock, and Kyle’s expression tightened slightly.
“We’ve got a professional out there,” he said, his tone even. “Don’t go near the windows.”
“Easier said than done,” Kate muttered, shocked by the steadiness of her own voice. Sarcasm helped, she supposed. “What are we going to do?”
Kyle didn’t answer right away, and Kate’s stomach tightened. Oh. So it’s that bad. Slowly, he said, “If the sniper out front is that good, there’s money involved. So if too much time passes without him being able to get to us, they’ll send a crew inside to get us. We can last a while against that.”
“But not long?” Kate persisted. She needed to know what they were looking at. The last thing she needed was Kyle going all chivalrous on her.
“Not long,” he said. “Hopefully long enough. I left my phone in my jacket— if we can get a hold of that, I can call work, and we’ll get backup headed our way. That’ll make our chances a lot better.”
“Okay,” Kate said, taking a deep breath. “Where’s your jacket?”
“Dining room.” Kyle frowned, and Kate could all but see him working through the variables. If he went and someone broke in, that would leave her defenseless. But if she went… there were far too many things that could go wrong. Things he couldn’t control.
But we don’t have time to spare worrying about that. “I’ll go,” she told him. “You can cover me. You’re the better shot anyways.”
“Kate—”
“Just shut up and cover me, Chambers.”
She could see he didn’t like it. But all he did was set his jaw, flip the safety off, and say, “Be careful.”
Kate didn’t dignify that with a response.
Crawling across a room while four months pregnant was fairly awkward, but she found her rhythm quickly enough. As a thief, making her way through uncomfortable situations like this one was her expertise. Most of the time, she wasn’t being shot at, though. Or pregnant.
That said, she usually didn’t have someone watching her back, either.
She’d made it halfway to the doorway leading into the dining room when she heard a creak. A familiar one, in fact. The kind that the hinges on the back door usually made.
Kate’s heart nearly stopped, and she looked at Kyle. Rolling towards it, he flipped the coffee table on its side, sending a few books and a (thankfully unlit) candle clattering to the ground. Shoving the table towards her, he mouthed, Stay down.
For once, Kate listened to him. Hiding behind the table, she watched the partially open door that the intruder would most likely come through, heart pounding so hard she felt like it would burst. Kyle didn’t move, his weapon leveled towards the doorway as footsteps echoed through the house, coming closer with every agonizing second.
And then they stopped short. Kate counted thirty heart wrenchingly breathless seconds before a familiar, accented voice came through the door.
“Chambers, I’d rather like to leave the building intact, if you don’t mind.”
Kyle blinked, looking startled. “Andersen? Don’t come in, there’s a—”
“Sniper, yes. I know.”
“How?”
Andersen’s voice was wryly amused as he said, “One of the few benefits of a corrupt police department is that you can pay them off, too. And it makes it easier to get access to their radios. Ivan was monitoring their channel, and he saw there was a call about a suspicious car in your neighborhood that wasn’t followed up on. I connected the dots quickly enough.”
“I’ve never been so grateful for a nosy government,” Kate muttered, and she heard the soft sound of Andersen’s laugh.
Kyle grinned, too, but it faded away a few seconds later. “Sir, if you’re here, does that mean that—”
“It’s not Alban,” Andersen said. “Nothing points to it being him. Which means that, unfortunately, it’s most likely one of your enemies, Chambers.”
“Don’t rule out my enemies so quickly,” Kate offered. “Plenty of people hate me.”
“Oh, we know,” Andersen said amusedly. “But not many would order a hit on you. Kyle, on the other hand—”
“I have plenty of people who would do that, if provoked,” Kyle finished. “Sir, we need a plan to get Kate out of here as fast as possible.”
“We have a plan,” Andersen assured him, “to get both of you out of here. You’ll go out the back door, staying low. There are less windows back here, and we cleared it to make sure no one’s waiting. I’ll remain here to make sure they don’t think you’ve left until you’re well clear.”
Kyle’s brows drew together into a deep frown. “With respect, I don’t like that idea, sir.”
“Nothing you haven’t done for me.”
“But sir—”
“No buts.” Andersen sounded stern, which wasn’t a tone Kate often associated with him. “You have bigger responsibilities than just your work now. And I’ll be just fine.”
Kyle wanted to argue— Kate could see it. But instead, he nodded. “Okay. Let’s do it.”
Without another word, the door swung a little farther open— just far enough that Kate could see Andersen waiting there. His eyes were alert and he held a weapon at the ready. “Kate, you first,” he said quietly. “Move as quickly as you can without drawing attention. Kyle, stay on her heels.”
While Kate generally preferred to ignore or at least bicker with authority figures, she could tell this wasn’t the time for it. So, keeping her mouth shut, she crawled over to the door, sliding through the half open gap without another word.
As she scrambled away from it, leaving Kyle room to follow, Andersen helped her to her feet. “There’s a car out back with an agent I trust driving it,” he told them. “Get straight in and tell him to go. Don’t stop for anything. When you’ve made it clear, message me and I’ll meet you back at the office.”
“Understood,” Kyle said as Kate moved to one of the nearest cupboards and pulled it open. Inside were stashed two backpacks— emergency bags in case of a situation exactly like this one. Whatever else she and Kyle might have disagreed on, they were both in favor of being prepared. Especially while being hunted by dangerous criminals.
Slinging hers over her shoulder, she passed Kyle his as he got to his feet. “Should we go back for your phone?” she asked, but he shook his head.
“I have a burner in here. And we don’t have time to waste.” He paused, glancing at Andersen. “Sir…”
“Stop looking at me as if you’ll never see me again,” Andersen said. “I told you, I’ll be there as soon as I can. I’ve no intention of letting a two-bit sniper be the one to do me in.”
“Yes, sir.” Kyle only looked marginally reassured. But that didn’t stop him from taking Kate’s hand and leading her towards the back door.
She let him take the lead on the way out, checking to make sure there was no one waiting for them other than the gray car idling in the alleyway. He was better at it, and truth be told, she was in no position to fight off assailants— physically or mentally. As she slid into the back seat of the car, it was slowly starting to hit her what had just happened.
Kate barely heard Kyle talking to the agent in the front seat, or the sound of the car moving forward. We just almost died. She wasn’t exactly unfamiliar with the sensation. She’d risked her life more times than she could count. So why was it hitting so hard this time?
Maybe it was the fact that she’d nearly been shot, but Kyle had taken the bullet— again. Maybe it was the fact that Andersen had volunteered to stay behind and risk his life for the two of them, without prompting. Or maybe it was the fact that it hadn’t just been her who was at risk.
I could have lost the baby. A shudder of fear and panic went through her, and suddenly she couldn’t stop shaking.
“Kate?” Kyle’s concerned voice cut through the haze, and she managed to glance up to where he was frowning at her, with the little furrows between his eyebrows that meant he was worried, not upset. “Are you okay?”
Don’t lose it. Not here, not now. Kate opened her mouth to say she was fine, that nothing was wrong, to make some kind of sarcastic comment like she always did. Instead, to her horror and embarrassment, she burst into tears.
For a moment, it was just her sobbing and trying desperately not to look at him. And then Kyle put his arms around her in such an unpretentious and kind way that all Kate could really do was bury her face in his shirt and cry.
It should have been strange. It was Chambers, for crying out loud. But these days, that meant something very different than it used to. So she just cried into his shirt while he rubbed her back gently, not saying anything.
Finally— she wasn’t sure how long it was— her sobs dwindled to the last few tears, and Kate realized that she had more than a few reasons to be embarrassed. She’d cried all over Chambers with no explanation, and while he’d handled it well enough… I have two choices. Just never move again, or move right now and never make eye contact with him again.
Before she could decide which, Kyle spoke. “Feeling better?” he asked quietly.
“A bit,” Kate mumbled, not lifting her head. She thought avoiding eye contact might be her best move for now. “I— I’m sorry, I don’t know why— usually I’m fine. It wasn’t that big of a deal, I’m just—”
“Pregnant?” Kyle suggested with a hint of amusement that Kate did not appreciate. Pulling away from him, she opened her mouth to tell him exactly what she thought— and then saw the sympathy in his eyes outweighed the humor.
“You know most normal people would have freaked out even earlier than that,” he pointed out. “You’re allowed to be scared.”
“I’m not scared,” Kate snapped, knowing she sounded foolish, that he wouldn’t believe her. Because it was a lie, really. She just hated that it wasn’t.
Kyle didn’t respond right away, and for a moment the two of them sat in silence, Kate wiping away the last of her tears. As she took a deep breath, steadying herself a little, Kyle said, “When my mom had my half sisters, she cried almost every day. Over the littlest things. And she’s one of the strongest people I know.”
Shooting a glance at him, Kate saw him watching her steadily. “Crying doesn’t make you weak, any more than fear does.”
“I said I wasn’t afraid,” Kate insisted.
“I was.”
Kate stared at him, taken aback. “You— is this some kind of reverse psychology to convince me to admit I’m afraid?”
“It’s to show you there’s nothing wrong with being afraid when you’re being shot at,” Kyle said with a hint of exasperation. “Or any time, for that matter. It doesn’t make you a coward, or weak, or whatever it is you think it makes you. All it makes you is human.”
For a moment, Kate didn’t speak. Then, tentatively, she ventured, “You didn’t seem scared.”
“Because I’m used to being shot at,” Kyle said tiredly. “That’s part of life for me, and I’ve learned to shut down the panicked side of it and focus on the solution. But also… I’ve never been in that situation when I had to protect you, and…”
“Our baby,” Kate murmured. It felt strange to say it, but it was true. Mostly.
“Yeah. It terrified me. If Andersen hadn’t shown up, I… I’m not sure what I would have done. Everything I could have to get you out of there, I guess.”
His expression was somber, but filled with a steady resolve. Huh. Not what I expected. Though this man rarely was. Kate opened her mouth to respond, but the agent in the front seat spoke first.
“Agent Chambers? We’ve left the radius Agent Andersen dictated. You can message him at any time.”
Nodding his thanks, Kyle dug through his backpack until he found the burner phone. As he focused on keying in the message, Kate said quietly, “Thank you.”
He looked up briefly, surprise crossing his face as he said, “You’re welcome.”

"We just want to speak with the host don't worry you can leave" one man said.
"I didn't know we have to bring weapon to talk" a voice repond
"Cpatain America" the first man look suprised and this is understanble
Before you can registred what the man said you hearded some gunshot and a fight between the Avengers and the men began.
You found the courage to open your eyes and you find Luigi fight with 3 bad guys ? What that even happenning here ? You scaned the room, you can see the fear in the eyes of the guest, Mario catching a bullet in his bare hand, princess peach floating with a red light around here it's pretty cool, you saw superman with a gun and shoot on some and batman flying and shoot some lasers with his hand but not your mama or the mysterious blond (you really have to work on your priorities). You hear some footstep behind you, it seem like comabat boots, you don't hesitated a second, your eyes glow blue, your your hand is surronded by some blue light and you throw a bottle of wine on the man behind you with your telepath power. You hearded his scream, you touch without even take a look you're proud of you but it'd not the time to felicite yourself you had to find Agatha you knew she would terribly worried. You start to run but an astronaute is very hard to not notice, it's not take a long before you were surronded by guns and angry faces.
"Hey little girl, you surronded so stop try fight and come with us, there is some one who reaaly want you to come home" one of the men said, you tilted your head precessing what he said, did they know who you are, who want you to come ?
But before you can ask those question a familiar break your silence "She'll go no where and less with you" you turn your head and see Batman he wanted to save you but he couldn't act before be kicked by a purple orb, you know what was happenig.
"Let my baby girl alone stupi Batman" Agatha said, you can see the anger in her eyes and it's understandable but you didn't want to let her hurt Tony
"No, he tried to help me mama he's not with theses guys" you exclaimed. You just blinked your eyes and the men around you were on the ground with a residue of purple light, you smirk and you suddenly you see her "Thanks you ma , but right now i have something to do can you help batman and his friend please ?" you said and start to run
"Yeah, but where are you going sweetie?" she was really anxious
"I have to find someone" you wink aadn contniue your cours. Far from the room in a hallway "hey!" you scream and the blond stop hersefl and looked at you with a suprise expression, you pull off you helmet and start "Is it Loucas ? What he's doing here ? I thought he was already with the other outdoor." you turn your eyes on the woman who was been join by two others 'friends' you suppose. "And what are you doing here ther are some bad guys in the tower we need to escape before you are hurt" you said to the group of the women.
The two other look the blonde and one of them break the silence "do you know her ?"
"Euh i met her when i was going to serach some food and medicine in the afternoon but that not the question," now she look at you "what are you doing here Y/N ? You're not supposed to be here." she ask with concern
"I saw you come here and i was worried, i know we know eatch other only from this afternoon but i'm not the type to let a pretty girl get injured" a girl with short start to laught and you look at her confused before continue "and you three what are you doing here ?"
"Euh we're here to protect Loucas " you look not convince but you have not time to question before heard footstep.
"Euh okay come with me i think i know were he can be, i know him since 6 months and i'm pretty use to be in this tower so i know his safe room" you lead the groupe to room with a lot of book, you picked one and secret door appeared "classic" you smile proudly.
The blond smile at you but her smile faded immediatly "thanks you and sorry" that was cold and before you can reply she up her arm you see her bracelet turn to be red and before you could act you were shooted by the accesoir and you were stunted on the ground, your eyes were heavy and you were sleeping.
---------
In the main room Agatha start to worry, you leave for 15 minustes now and you're not back, it's not your type to disappeard like that and when she try to reach you mentally you didn't respond. She couldn't come to find you because she those men were presistent. She didn't know but Tony start to share her worry so she was surprise when she heard the man said "Vision there was a little girl in astronaute costume here she run in the hallway but she's not come back, se if you can find her and bring her bakc please"
The 'cyborg' nodded and start to search you before Agatha stop him "If you find her, can you assure she has her helmet on her head before bring her back, she has some probleme with her mind and her power and the helmet protect her so please can you do that?" Vision look at her with concern and nodded before really go.
The Scarlett witch were worried about you she know what she can do and when she heard about your porobleme she didn't want to hurt more than you can be when Vision we'ill find you. After 5 more minute the room was totaly clean and the Steve was debriefing with the other team in his hearpiece.
"That was some hydra's agent" he said
"What hydra again ? they really didn't nothing more interesting to do who don't concern murder and detention?" the redhaed respond "in our side we didn't find any black widow just some bad guys not really dangerous but they had alien's weapons" she add
"It would mean that the black widow is gone" the captain mumbled
"Black Widow ? Like 'the Black Widow'? you ask enterring the room in the arm of Vision
All the eyes are on you before you add "euh and speakinf of black widow did you see the three girls dressed like black widow, their costume were so reallistic and... wait one of them stunt me" you try to touch your neck but you sens the helmet "that really hurt" you added
Agatha chuckle she know you're too strong to be trouble by a teaser but she ask "are you alright sweetie ? you ran and you didn't tell me why i was worried" you look her eyes she was really worried so you have to apologize you don't like to see her like that
"Yeah, sorry i saw that girl, the blond from the afternoon so i followed her to assure myself she was safe, and then she was join by two of her friend i suppose and then" you freeze you realise what happened "they said they were in the hallway to protect Loucas and i bring them in front of his safe room and the blond stunted me with... with her wirst!?" you revelation froze all the avengers in the room when they understand what they did. Steve ramble something in his hearpiece, you didn't really understand what he said but you knew it was important. The whole team start to run where Vision found you, you stay with Agatha "mama did i do something bad ?" she heard the guilt in your voice
"No it's not your fault they used you but it's not you fault, you're just kind a little too kind but it's noy a big deal it's why i like you sweetie. Don't be sad it's not your fault you din't know" despite her words you couldn't contain your tears, she gave you a tight hug that remind you the first time you mete her. She ran her hands throught your hair and whipered "it's not your fault" and "i like you", this was a thing she usualy do when you had a nightmare, and it' was more than a nightmare, when you were more she decided to bring you back to the hotel room with a teleportation spell.
After a shower you wer lying down on Agatha bed, you didn't want to be alone not tonight. You were spacing out your mind was full of memories of the party and before you can registred, you felt thumbs rubing the tears when you didn't know they were droping down. She want to turn on the tv to distract you but that was a bad idea, the new was every where they walled that 'The Halloween's Disaster'. You felt worse but they didn't seem to speak about the Loucas's death. Why ? maybe they didn't find the corps or maybe they tried to cover something, you don't know but you diddn't really care now, he's dead because of you and that's all matter now.
--------
3 hours later in the Avenger's Quinjet
"So you say the black widows were in the party and the only who saw them has mysteriously vanished ?" ask Fury, the Avengers where on their way to return in the usa and the boss of the SHIELD called them to have an update of the missions. "and you say me you have no way to find her ?" he add.
"Technically, we her name and her mother" said Tony nonchalantly
"And why you don't know how she look like ?" Natasha replied this time more angry by the reponse of the Iron Man.
"She wore a helmet all the night but when she was out we sent Vision to find her so he could see her face" this time that was the captain
"The probleme is when i found her she had already recover from the widow bites but she seem like lost and when i took her she didn't seem hurt or at least she seem recover very fast" confested the red man where every one look at him.
"And what that mean ?" ask Banner
"Maybe she lied and she was with them like a double agent" propose Clint
"No, she didn't seem to be qualified to this type of 'job'."
"What do you mean ?"
"She's not like Romanoff" every body smirked

I Hope That You Burn
James x fem! Reader
Angst
Prompt: James’ wife had no idea about his killing and when the cops come to arrest him, she’s the one who finds his body.
Tumblr media
To say you were angry at James would be an understatement. To start off, the two of you had met while he was in university. He had proposed to you shortly before building the hotel and put any talk of a wedding on the shelf while he built his hotel. He became distant, but you tried to visit him every so often when you could. The majority of your communication was through letters or you seeing the papers of him on the cover in front of his hotel.
You had finally made it out to the hotel, just in time for it’s opening ceremony, your presence being a surprise for James. It was for the best that you didn’t tell him because you were late anyway, barely sprinting upstairs to see him holding another woman in his arms as she stood beside an open window. The two of them seemed very close, almost closer than you were with your own fiance.
He held her hand as he helped her away from the window, kissing her hand gently as he stared up into her eyes. You felt the anger festering in your chest as they exchanged quiet words, drowned out by the sound of the party inside the room between you and them. You weren’t quite sure what to do, to yell or interrupt or just leave, but luckily that choice was made for you.
Elizabeth glanced back towards the party and caught a glance of you. She saw the anger in your eyes, and the ring that sat on your finger. You were the woman who he had a photo framed of in the room the party was placed in. You were the woman who was pictured with James in the newspapers, the one holding his hand and kissing his cheek… his fiance.
“James…” You stated, just barely loud enough for him to hear. His head turned to you from where it was staring at Elizabeth. “Darling, I was just helping miss…” He gestured to Elizabeth who’s name he didn’t even know. “Elizabeth.” She said and he nodded. “Miss Elizabeth was shocked by the news of Valentino’s death. I was helping her calm down, but if you could cool her off that would help tremendously.” He said and he pushed her gently towards you.
It wasn’t the infatuation with Elizabeth, or even the fact that when you two did tie the knot, his maid looked as if she had seen a terribly sad motion picture. Although those did get on your nerves, you could stand it as long as he was loyal to you in every other aspect, which he was. You had fallen pregnant shortly after the wedding, and started to take your spot in his life as a wife, picking up where Miss. Evers couldn’t.
As you were making a stew for dinner, currently about 6 months along in your pregnancy, you heard a commotion outside your door, what sounded like many pairs of footsteps heading towards your husband’s office down the hallway from you. Turning off the heat to the stove, you walked out of your room and towards the commotion. “Can I help you gentlemen?” You asked as you wiped your hands on your apron, watching as about 8 police officers stood outside your husband's office.
“Mrs. March, we have a warrant here for your husband’s arrest.” The head of the group spoke as he held out the warrant to you. “For what charges?” You asked and took the paper from his hands. “Multiple charges of first degree murder, more than enough to put him in the chair.” Your face went cold as you heard the charges, gently resting your hand on your bump. “That couldn’t be him… My husband never leaves his office. He hunts every once and a while but that’s not out of the ordinary or illegal. I don’t even think he keeps his hunting guns on premises.” You stated and it just happened to be perfect timing that a gunshot went off on the other side of the door.
Your eyes widened and you grasped for the key to his office that was hidden above the door. The officers took out their weapons as you unlocked the door, knocking on it gently, but not hearing a response. Pushing the door open, your entire body froze. There was Miss Evers’ body with a bullet through her forehead, the gun in your husband’s hand, a knife in his other as his blood rushed from his neck into a tub where there was a horrid stench of acid and a corpse with it’s flesh basically melting off.
It barely all clicked in your head before your head hit the ground and you passed out. You always were squeamish at the sight of blood and seeing it flow like Niagara falls out of your husband's throat was a mixture for nightmares. The policemen got you back to your room and questioned you for hours, your makeup staining your cheeks and the stew on the stove getting cold.
When you were finally left to your own devices, you sat on your bed and held the handkerchief with your husband's initials embroidered which was now stained with black of your makeup. You sighed and stood up, walking over to his office, now cleared of the bodies, but the air felt cold and unwelcoming. You walked to his desk and opened the drawers, looking through his things, just blueprints, contracts, a note with his code to his safe, even your marriage certificate.
You took the note with his code on it, putting it into the safe that sat in the wall behind his desk. It cracked open and you almost threw up at what you saw, it looked like a chamber with his guns, knives, as you glanced around your foot touched the body of a corpse on the ground, rotting from the lack of anyone being able to access the chamber. You stepped around it and shakily took in the room, placing your apron over your hand as you opened a chute which led straight down.
Walking away from the room, you sat at his desk and saw something else peeking from the bottom of his drawer, all your letters to him, and the ones you hand brought with you when you moved in. Picking them up, you felt the fire ignite in your chest, the anger of everything your husband had done to you now boiling to the surface. You grabbed all the letters and walked to the fireplace that sat against the wall. Igniting it, you sat before the fire, reading through the papers.
“Why’d you have to be a damn Icarus. You had so much ambition and chose to put it in the wrong places. James, you could’ve had a perfect family. Me, the wonderful child growing that we made. You bastard, you left me here alone.” Your tears started to shed again as you threw the notes into the flames. “If it weren’t for this child growing in me, I'd throw this damn marriage certificate into the flames as well. At least with this our child can live here comfortably. I hope you burn in hell.” You muttered the last part as you stared at the certificate, a photograph from your wedding paperclipped to the corner.
You stared into the fire, tears pricking in your eyes as you felt your baby kick. You caressed your stomach, feeling the air around you get cold quickly, and hearing a clap of metal and a dragging sound. Feeling your chest shake as you stood again, walking towards the sound in the chamber, the body now disappeared and what looked like your husband standing in the room.
“James?” You asked softly and the figure faced you. It looked just like him but it felt nothing like him. He reached out and took your hand gently, it most definitely didn’t feel like him, he felt colder. “You bastard.” Was the only thing you spit out and stared at him daringly. “You’re a fucking murderer and you didn’t tell me? You fucking killed yourself and I just got questioned for 5 hours by the police who think I had something to do with it.” You spit out at him and threw his hand off of you.
“Dearest, I didn’t want you wrapped up in my… hobby. I knew you’d disapprove and I didn’t want to put stress on you or the baby.” He said and gently caressed your stomach. “I don't know...what you are but whatever it is I don't want you anywhere near me or this child. Especially with those people’s blood on your hands. How do I know you won’t hurt our child?” you spat at him and walked towards the door of his office.
“Darling-” “James, leave me alone. I need time to think this over.” You said and walked out the door, leaving the ghost of your husband to stand in his office as you cradled your stomach, now crying again as you walked back to your room, locking the door behind you.

Pig
Hey there. I have another story to share, though some of you may find it quite impossible, but it's true. It wasn't just me who witnessed it. Almost all my family saw it. Also, this is quite a long read so please bear with me.
Here in the Philippines, we have these creatures known as "aswang" or "wakwak". They look like normal people during the day, but during night, they transform into something horrible. The most common form of a typical aswang is it is usually a lady growing giant bat-like wings with the help of a special oil applied to their body. Males usually transform into humanoid monsters with enormous strength and ugly faces. Also, they can transform into anything: dogs, cats, birds, and in this story, a pig.
These creatures have a thirst for human flesh. Their most preferred victims are babies, toddlers, children, and pregnant women. So, here we go.
We went to a vacation in Bohol, an island in Visayas (I live in Mindanao) since it was almost the town fiesta of that place. It has become a Filipino tradition to visit loved ones living afar and celebrating the festivities with them. Some sort of family reunion. Anyways, we got there, exchanged greetings and pleasantries with our relatives, and exchanged stories and laughter from hours on end.
Now, there was one particular aunt I was really excited to meet, my tita Mitch. She was so sweet, kind, funny, and 9 months pregnant. She was due on May 19 (two years ago), 3 days since our arrival.
I pointed out that there are no nearby hospitals anywhere, and the nearest hospital was a 3-hour drive away. My uncle assured me that he already contacted a midwife who was a family friend. Finally, her water broke on the second night (it was almost 7pm). Everyone was so excited. My uncle hurriedly went and fetched the midwife while we were preparing stuff that would help with ther labor.
No more than 5 minutes later, my uncle came back with the midwife. Everything was set, until the midwife stepped inside the house. Upon setting foot inside the house, she quickly pulled my uncle and my dad and told them that there's a black bird hiding in the kitchen and they should get rid of it. They quickly obliged and searched the kitchen and they found it: a black raven, bigger that a normal raven, with glowing red eyes. My dad pulled a knife nearby and tried to stab the raven but it quickly flew away.
Following this event, the midwife told us to go to her place and take one sharpened bamboo for each of us (there were nine of us there) and return to the house. We obliged and when we got back, my uncle started placing us in strategic positions around the house, as if there is someone or something coming. My cousins were lucky. Two was placed on the east side of the house facing the street fifty meters away, two on the west facing the nearby neighbors, two on the front of the house and, maybe luck wasn't on my side that day, the remaining three of us were placed behind the house, facing the woods.
Now, we sat there in the darkness, bracing ourselves for what was to come. We heard it before we saw it. A loud, sharp, deep squeal echoing through the woods. We bolted up, tightening our grips on our bamboo poles. The others that was placed on the other sides of the house quickly ran and we were just standing there, waiting.
Then it showed itself, emerging from the woods, the biggest pig we've ever seen, and I mean BIG. I'm 5 feet 8 inches tall, and the tallest in our group was probably 5 feet 9, but the pig is still taller. Eyes glowing red and foaming in the mouth, it crept nearer to us. None of us can even point our bamboos at it anymore. We were so scared.
Just as I figured we were all dead meat, a loud boom echoed through the forest. The pig quickly ran into the woods, followed by my uncle and a group of his friends. They were all carrying hunting rifles. We didn't see what happened next since we just stayed where we stood. All we heard are screams and lots of gunshots. When they finally emerged from the woods about an hour later, my uncle told us what happened. They were chasing the pig, all the while shooting at it with no luck. When one of his friends finally got a clean shot, it hit the side of the pig. The pig stopped and squealed, all the while transforming back into an old man. Sounds impossible, right? It gets crazier.
The next morning, we were having coffee on our veranda when a young man in his early twenties passed by our house and glared at us. We brushed it off, until an old man passed by. He had no shirt on, and a big bandage on his side, glared at us like we killed his dog or something. So yeah, that's my story. Sounds impossible, right? Well, here in the Philippines these creatures exist. Let this be a warning.
