Scene fades from black to show Beryl Fategrandorder tied to a chair. He’s disheveled and clearly been through some kind of torture. On the other side of the room is a TV with a Blu-Ray player, underneath which lies a box full of various DVD cases. To a saavy veteran, some of the names are recognizable: Megalo Box, Plastic Memories, Fullmetal Alchemist, the list goes on. There are also several game consoles and laptops of various games and youtube videos scattered about. Many of them are played through.
Next to this immaculate collection is a shadowy, hooded figure (me💜) who despite the lack of expression conveys annoyance. However, there is a certain calmness to their movements as they eject the latest disc. Like everything that has occured was never a matter of ‘if’, only ‘when’. Like the struggle up to this point had always been useless, and Beryl, despite his insistence on inhumanity, was struggling like a human against the inevitable.
Beryl had shown cracks, but he didn’t break. Yet.
“Tch...so neither Madoka or NDRV3 made you understand, huh? Those were some of our strongest... Well, I didnt want to have to do this, but you’ve left me no choice...” The figure reaches behind the television to reveal a locked safe covered in caution tape. As they work on the combination, Beryl barks a laugh. The final whimpers of a dying dog. “Hah! You have me here watching a bunch of random cartoons and games, but it’s not like they mean anything. Stop wasting both our times and...and...” His eyes widen. A pristine, sealed copy of Ancient Magus Bride comes into the light, and for the first time there is neither defiance nor anger in his stare.
Only fear.
