ITS DIRTY WORK APPRECIATION TIME. so many people hate this album because it’s silly goofy and they had fun and it’s not serious. like, shut up, it’s 2023, please let’s stop shitting on dirty work already. for that matter, let’s stop shitting on last young renegade too. god, people hate a band that has fun.
like, I guess sure, it’s not quote unquote “good music” and there’s a lot of stylistic changes that happened between the nothing personal era and this era and some songs might not be as musically GREAT as you WANT them to be, but like, it is SO clear throughout the entire album that these boys LITERALLY just want to vibe. they are sooo not here to be serious. I heard someone say once that I Feel Like Dancin’ was the worst video all time low has ever made besides poppin champagne and I was absolutely floored. what? people hate the I feel like dancin video?,?,,??? WHAT??
it’s funny it’s stupid it’s goofy it makes fun of the label and the industry and sure it doesn’t do that in the most mature way but it’s so funny and I always watch it to make myself feel better because it makes me laugh. It’s cringey but it’s good, and I think that can be said about a lot of ATL content. if you don’t like having fun why are you here. and honestly that’s a lot of the songs- I Feel Like Dancin, That Girl and Bad Enough For You are my go-tos when I feel bad because they’re so stupid it’s funny and that helps me feel better. like, some of the lyrics are just ridiculous, it’s great. that’s not even it though, because it’s not like dirty work isn’t serious at times, there are some REALLY good songs musically, too.
like, whenever I see people shittig on dirty work I have to remind them: time bomb. under a paper moon. return the favor. guts. actually, guts was my favorite song for a really long time. for every silly song there’s another one that’s just as stylistically impressive as it is keeping on the all time low brand, which is, essentially, Have Fun Make Dick Jokes Be Goofy. they are Not a serious band. the thing about all time low is that they like to have fun and they have since the beginning so why shit on them for doing what they’ve been doing but more apparent. stop it. appreciate dirty work because it may not be a “masterpiece” but it’s damn good and I love it very much.

But really, Thousand Year Door is just, it's so good. Just as good as I remember.
Like, every other Paper Mario game has a section that I don't really look forward to, but I don't think I can say that about TTYD?
Spoilers below.
Like, I'm literally just listing things that happen that I like and phrasing them as questions. So spoilers, I guess.
Like, Petalburg and Hooktail's Castle? Koops hesitating to join your party, but working up the courage on your way back through town so you have him in the castle?
Being able to find a secret badge that weakens Hooktail because it reminds her of a stomachache she had in the past? Her eating the crowd?
Joining Punio to help free their people from the oppression of the X-Nauts? With an entire beginning section that sets up Vivian's character while also getting you your new party member who will be with you throughout the tree?
The tree itself, you having to navigate 1, 10, and 100 punies around different puzzles? And the one Jabbi that joins your side if you find them because they were Punio's friend?
Grodus nabbing the Crystal Star and starting a countdown clock that will blow up the tree if you don't get to the exit in time? Not to mention him using a fake altar to try and trap you?
Having you use a secret code to get a meeting with a mafia don in order to get access to the blimp so you can get to the tournament world? And then having the tournament start off simple but seem to get more complex and have a mystery under it all?
And giving you different yoshi colors based on when you hatch him, making him the secret to moving into the major leagues? Having the villain not be the champ of the arena, but the manager organizing the fights, who seemingly killed the previous champ?
Having Twilight Town basically operate under a kind of fairytale feel, where your name is the most important thing? You need your name as part of you in order to get into the town, and having it stolen means you are powerless against the person who stole it?
Seemingly beating the chapter early on, only for the camera to linger after mario leaves as you realize the monster stole your identity and everyone that was on your side?
And all that leading to you befriending Vivian and getting her away from her abusive situation, the one person to stick by you, despite knowing how angry it would make her sister? Realizing that Mario was the one person that was nice to her, so she is going to stick by him?
I just, I love Vivian so much!
And then, for the Pirate world, having to go out and find a rich adventurer who is being called by the sea, and having to find a grizzled retired sailor who will help sail you through the rough waters?
Having the island be a ghost story, with an old song being a riddle for a secret entrance that eventually leads to an undead pirate scourge, who can't be defeated, but just gives you the treasure anyway?
And then recruiting that pirate through the rich useless adventurer standing up for himself and using him to assault Lord Crump and his crew?
And then there's the whole train mystery, which I don't really have much to say other than it's a cool setting and I like that the villains beat you to the Crystal Star, only to reveal it's a fake.
And then going to a snowy town only to get blasted by hundreds of bob-ombs at the moon! I don't care if you have to go to every world for it, that's cool!
And getting to see where Peach was held captive, seeing TEC as mario and getting to see his last moments as he gives you the power to escape the base and shows he's still in there in his last moments.
And then the final chapter, which I think uses all of your partner's powers? It's a good final dungeon, and there's a lot I love about it.
I especially like you getting one last encounter with Beldam, Doopliss, and Marilyn, and getting to beat them up. And having Beldam show how smart she is by having her trick you into opening the door. I also love the villain possessing Peach and having you fight her.
And all the worlds going dark, only for them to wish for you to keep fighting through the Crystal Stars, allowing for Peach to give you the last of her power so you can win the day.
I just love all of it.
Not even mentioning all the Peach and Bowser sections, how they really make Roguetown feel like the hub world, and the curses throughout the game.
I just REALLY LOVE this game.
