Snatcher gives a tiny, but genuine, smile as he accepts the jam. Yep, that goat man and winged unicorn are definitely friendly folk.

"Kids! Breakfast!" He calls as he goes to spread the jam over some toast.

The episode begins with Filthy Rich picking up a supply of Apple Cider. Yes, Apple Cider because Apple Bloom packed them in the same kind of boxes as the Zap Apple Jam and lied hoping she could fix it before anyone notices. Luckily, the older Apple Siblings found out and Filthy Rich returned them without a second thought. He knows he shouldn’t get on Granny Smith’s bad side. AJ is upset that Apple Bloom lied about it and when she says it only leads to trouble, Apple Bloom said AJ doesn’t know that since she never lied in her life. Cue story of Apple Kids.

Many Moons ago, because they keep track of time for their fiction as well as I do mine, Applejack and a more talkative Big Mac argue which one of them will run the farm when Granny Smith retires. It’s Applejack with her ideas Vs Big Mac with his size. And a whole lot of talking. I’m pretty sure he talks more in this episode than a normal season. And one of AJ’s big ideas is to let Filthy Rich, who is currently running the story, to sell Apple Cider. Sadly, it's a promise she can’t keep and instead of telling the truth, she lies that Granny Smith is sick.

Of course, since Filthy Rich is an actual nice person, she comes to visit. But Applejack continues to lie and lie until everyone ends up in the hospital and Big Mac is one moment away from becoming a tripedal creature after Granny Smith cuts off a leg. Luckily for him, Applejack tells the truth and Granny Smith fixes the problem. The episode ends with the reveal of who really runs the farm: Granny Smith.

Overall, it is sadly a weak episode for me. Mostly because her lying isn’t really that fun compared to Apple Cord we’ll get later. And this is also the reason Big Mac doesn’t do a lot of talking. He claims it's because he spent more time talking than listening, but the thing is he did listen and he was right. He kept trying to get Applejack to tell the truth and she just kept making things worse and worse. And because he nearly got his leg cut off, he is now afraid to speak his mind.

Great job Applejack. Click here to see the original review. But even though in the rewrite I have Filthy Rich being the storyteller, I may go back on this and change a few things to make it feel better to me.

I watched so much stuff while working on this: Treasure Planet, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, the 1998 Godzilla movie and a few episodes of Freakazoid, but here are my Caramel x Applejack kids for my Disliked Ships AU.

Gin Rummy (or Golden Russet, his birth name) is 19 years old and the oldest of Applejack and Caramel's children. His relationship with his parents isn't exactly the best as he thniks his dad is a total wuss and that his mom is the definition to 'country hick'. He discovered his talent in card games after he ran away to visited Manehattan as a teenager and later ended up changing his name to reflect his talent. Gin currently lives in Las Pegasus where he works at a casino and visits home on ocassion, but he usually doesn't stay for long.

Buckwheat is 14 years old and the middle child of his siblings. He's a very gentle and soft-spoken boy and has a talent similar to that of his late grandmother Pear Butter: he makes preserves, more specifically zap apple jam. Buckwheat was really close with his older brother when they were kids and hopes that he'll be able to spend more with his family someday.

Autumn Glory is five years old and the accidental third kid. She's an absolute sweetheart who loves to share things. If she gets a packet of gummy bears, she'll often ask a friend if they would like to have one. It's just how she is. One of her favorite things to do is help her older cousin Rhubarb Pie with baking. This might lead to her finding her cutie mark someday, but only time will tell.

GRANNY SMITH

First Appearance: Green Lantern Apple Bloom (July 24, 2013)

Dimension: GLAB Universe

Allegiance: Civilian

The oldest of the Apples living in Ponyville, Granny Smith lived an exciting life. But it wasn’t always the case. For you see, her family were traveling Seed Collectors looking for a place to call home. That’s when they visit Canterlot and the Princess of the Sun lead them to a nice clearing for them. It was there that Granny Smith discovered the Zap Apples and created the Zap Apple Jam that would be a cornerstone of Stinkin' Rich’s store. And thanks to that, Ponyville was founded. While Granny Smith still worked on the farm, she still had time for many activities. One of which was High Diving.

But her loyalty lies in the Apple Orchard, so much so that when a Pear Farmer moved next door, a rivalry was born that would go on for years and years. Through her hard work, she did manage to run out the Pear Farmer, but at the cost of her new Daughter in Law’s family. Feeling guilty for being the reason Pear Butter lost her family, she kept that shame with her throughout the years. It is a sore subject for her, but she is proud to have helped raise Applejack, Big Mac and Apple Bloom to be fine, upstanding ponies.
