ZenYuki Week 2022!

This June, we will be hosting the first ZenYuki Week that ANS has had in years! ZenYuki Week 2022 will run from June Fifth through June Eleventh, 2022, and these incredible prompts were brainstormed by Muselover1901!  The Weekly theme is Healthy Relationship, and the daily prompts are seven qualities of a healthy relationship (though there are definitely way more qualities too!)  Please @ this blog, just in case Tumblr goofs up or we miss your lovely creations! Also, please tag your submissions as ZenYuki Week 2022, which we’ll also check as well! Most importantly though, we hope you have fun and really enjoy this event we put together.

Only had a few Zen songs saved up from my last set of playlists, so I accidentally ended up with another Eisley and Copeland playlist… but I am glad I was able to use another perfect Copeland B-side with a grey/red color reference!

Day 1 - Communication

Zen was taken by surprise when they came upon the Lions’ village. Obi had led them in such a winding path through the woods that Zen had completely lost track of where they were. At a sigh from Shirayuki, Obi stopped in his tracks just before the wooden bridge. 

“Are you alright, my lady?” He hovered over Shirayuki, not quite touching her. Zen looked at her, too, and found her slightly bent over and flushed, taking deep breaths. 

“Mmmhmm, I’m okay, Obi.” Shirayuki smiled at her guard first, then Zen. “Just catching my breath.” She straightened again. “Thank you, Obi.” She met his eyes, something passing between them.

Obi nodded. He stepped back with a little bow, then whirled away, crossing the bridge and vanishing amongst the buildings. Zen blinked. 

He looked at Shirayuki but she spoke before he could ask. “Zen, please let me treat you. You have so many bruises.” She looked so anxious that Zen smiled at her.

“Of course, Shirayuki. But they don’t hurt.”

“Still,” Shirayuki fretted. She took him by the arm and led him through the village. 

At this late hour, there were few people out of the houses and they reached the small building that was Shirayuki’s goal unmolested. She opened the door to a room lined with shelves and stocked ceiling to floor with small jars and containers. Shirayuki stood on tiptoe to fetch a jar from a higher shelf and then turned back to Zen with a determined expression. “You should sit down.”

Meekly, he followed her directions, surprised by the focus in her eyes. Shirayuki bent over him, dabbing at his face with a cloth before dipping her fingers into the jar and smearing the cream over his cheek. Zen winced a little at the tenderness she found.

“Sorry!” Shirayuki’s expression of concentration slipped into one of concern. “I’ll try to be gentler.”

“No, don’t worry!” Zen almost shook his head but remembered to hold still at the last moment. “You’re doing great, Shirayuki.”

A smile flitted across her face, but a moment later, a shadow entered her eyes. “I should be doing more. This never would have happened if I had.”  

Zen frowned, trying to catch her eye. “What do you mean?”

Shirayuki turned away from him, swirling her fingers in the cream. Even when she turned back, she kept her eyes fixed on his arm as she gently rubbed over the bruises. “I’m sure you have other things to worry about.”

He pressed his lips together, watching her downcast expression. “Prince Raj is looking for you.”

She startled, then sighed. “So everyone knows by now. The rumors must have been spreading all this time.”

Zen narrowed his eyes. “There must be something you can do. That prince shouldn’t be allowed to prey on his own subjects.”

The shadow didn’t leave her face. “There is something, but…” Shirayuki shook her head. “I shouldn’t…”

“Shirayuki…” Zen looked down and saw that her hands were trembling around the jar. Gently, he took it from her, and she stared at her empty hands in surprised confusion.

“Wait, Zen, I need to…” She reached for the jar.

Zen hid it behind his back, and Shirayuki stopped and stared at him. “I want to help. Tell me what I can do,” he insisted.

Shirayuki’s face fell. “I’m sorry, Zen, but you can’t help. The only people who can help us now are the royal family of Clarines.” 

Zen almost dropped the jar.

Fortunately, Shirayuki wasn’t watching him. Heavily, she sat down on the bench beside him. “Dad has already asked them for aid but they said they could only help if…” She clenched her hands in her skirts. “...if I married the second prince.”
