#em draws stuff#zinebash03#nautical art#compositions with Actual Ships in them were eluding me so here is a thing about what I like to draw (space-filling patterns and Hands)#wanted to make something that would look cool both unfolded and broken up into its component page-spreads#the compass rose unfolding strategy is designed after a page from the mysterious benedict society puzzle book :/#going to see about finishing the other before actually getting everything set up wrt googleforms and such#(and potentially! also a zine from my Dad may go in with those! which! uh! okay!!)

can you believe it's july already! that means you've got just under 2 weeks to make your zines!
if you've already finished....
post it! unlike the first time we did this, you're now encouraged to go ahead and post your zines during the event. use #zinebash03 and tag @zinebash so we can see and reblog it!
if you don't want to post it yourself for any reason, you can send us a dm or email, use this tumblr form or let us know on the main submission form and we'll post it to the event tumblr + twitter
speaking of the main submission form, don't forget to submit the printable file of your zine there so we can include it in the gallery and print + downloadable zine packs after the event
if you haven't finished -- or haven't even started -- maybe these will be of use...

Heres the zine I made for the maritime history @zinebash ! I think its really interesting how so many cultures around the world have tried to personify/deify the sea and other bodies of water, so I did some rough sketches of my interpretations of these figures. Some of the designs are based on traditional depictions, and others are just how I pictured them after doing some research!

survival cannibalism (nonfic text-heavy zine)

art history re: some well-known maritime painting
sea shanties
historic lighthouses of [region] (i *might* manage to finish this one for the gulf coast)
there are 10 days left to make & submit your zine! remember, done is better than perfect, and frankly, it's the so-called imperfections that often give zines the rich unpolished and unrestrained flavors we love.
