Zoey's Villain Arc
I want to get this theory out and on paper before reading/finishing Zoey Is Too Drunk for this Dystopia. This will reference plot points from the first two books in the series and contain nothing from the third.
I believe the ultimate arc of the Zoey Ashe series is her slide into villainy. And that this will happen without her internally feeling like a more callous or bad person. It will be an example of the political idea that there is no ethical way to be a billionaire, and that privilege inherently corrupts in a way that can't be fixed by putting a "good person" into power.
In the first book, Zoey doesn't want Athur's money, power or privilege. She's forced into situations at the threat of her life, and spends 99% of the book just trying to survive. At the end, it's only vaguely hinted she might stick around instead of just going back home. But there's scenes and hints of her changing things- like the pizza scene in squatterville. It's something of a left-leaning/liberal power fantasy. If a poor (or at least "average") person got access to billions of dollars, they'd fix the system, they'd be more humane, they'd use that power for good.
Then there's book two. And arguably, Zoey is fixing things. She's a lot less directly violent in her business than Arthur ever was. She's arranging public transit for folks who need it. She's divesting from unethical practices.
Except.
The entire point of the book is how much bigger the machine is than her. There's a running joke (/not a joke) that Zoey owns several businesses without knowing what they are or what they do. That her innocuous actions (like asking about a noise in the AC) have drastic ripple effects. She's doing better than Arthur, but hey, Arthur's dad was even worse...
I see the opening scene (and the conversation with Shae afterwards) as super critical to this. The young woman is as terrified of being in the Livingston house as Zoey was in book 2 (this is explicitly stated). And Zoey tries to reassure her with all the things the reader knows/is likely to think at this point: Will isn't that bad, they're trying to improve things compared to Arthur. But critically, Shae doesn't buy into it. As she points out, Will is still terrifying to the average person (and not seeing that says something about Zoey). And in terms of cleaning up the business, Zoey has kept the suits around, AKA the people that did all of the worst things for Arthur. After all, as Zoey points out, they're the ones that know how to run things...
So yeah, that's what I mean by villain arc. Not becoming the cannibal caricature that Zoey's harassers assume her to be, the cartoon villain. But I don't think the philosophy of these books can really allow Zoey to become a "good billionaire" and fix the system from the inside.

"Zoey thought it was funny that this kind of computerized warning voice was always coded as female. She had brought it up with the person who'd installed the alarm system and was told that for the type of guy you're trying to deter, a stern woman was the last voice they'd ever obeyed: a schoolteacher, a mother, or whatever female family member had gotten stuck with raising them."

Now one thing I find really stylistically interesting about Batman Beyond, is that a lot of the mechanisms by which the supervillians do their thing come part-and-parcel with the cyberpunk setting, rather than being an aberration resulting purely from the superheroic genre elements. This is the future of a quote-unquote "present-day" DCU, meaning that they've superficially addressed the question of why all the cutting-edge supertech used in the cape scene never seems to see mass adoption by the civilian sector- forty years later, it has. This means that It's never hard to grok where any given villain is getting the resources necessary to execute their gimmick; these people are flashy by our standards, but they live in a world where everyone has access to flying cars and antigravity drones. Half these people are doing the cyberpunk equivalent of going killdozer with repurposed industrial equipment, or kludging together something with off-the-shelf stuff from radio shack, or mounting a machine gun on a technical truck, and literally in the middle of typing this sentence I started the episode where there's mass-market off-the-shelf animal gene-splicing that would have been a whole-ass individualized origin story in the time of Batman: The Animated Series. Even one-off mutants like Inque and Blight are well-understood within the context of the setting, to the extent of Inque being able to make a knockoff of herself on the go.
This is dystopic. Beyond the genre-typical surface-level megacorp domination of society it's dystopic. On the meta-level it's the same dynamic as Superman: The Animated Series, where the reason there's a sudden uptick in weird costumed crime concurrent with the protagonist's debut is purely Doylistic- the hero needs punching bags. But within the logic of the setting, there's nothing special about Willy Watt's decision to go full Carrie using a hijacked construction robot besides the fact that he had somewhat easier access to the thing than the average school-shooter. Spellbinder being able to put together functional illusion-and-mind-control tech on a high-school counselor's salary- when his entire complaint is that he isn't being paid enough- implies that the main barrier to anyone else pulling the same brainwashing stunt is that nobody else thought to. Shriek's sound suit might be more a more roundabout demolition tool than dynamite, but it's still powerful enough to bring down buildings and he created it as a fly-by-night contractor. The consumer tech base is evolved to the point that regardless of when Batman shows up, shit like this should literally never not be happening- they're past an inflection point. I remember Syndrome from The Incredibles having some kind of line about this

POKEMON SERIES RANKED (IMO)
I get this question a lot and haven't made an updated list with Journeys
Original Series (S1-S5)
Sun & Moon (S20-S22)
Chronicles (S0)
Diamond and Pearl (S10-S13)
Advanced (S6-S9)
Journeys (S23-S25)
Black & White (S14-S16)
XY (S17-S19)
Original Series (S1-S5)
OS had that first season charm. Very unpolished, still finding its footing but super enjoyable for those reasons
Probably the strongest series comedy-wise
That GORGEOUS 90s anime style
Main character dynamics were REALLY strong
Ash's personality felt much more like a shitty little 10 year old which was entertaining
Dub writing was also the best hands down
Sun & Moon (S20-S22)
Honestly tied for first with OS for me
REALLY fun ensemble cast! They do a fantastic job giving each character enough time for you to get to know and care about
Excellent modern anime style that perfectly fit the vibe of the season and allowed for some of the best character animation of the show's run
Finally figured out how to write Ash like a 10 year old again (but in a kind/sweet 10 year old way as opposed to OS)
Very different from previous series in terms of the formula they'd follow. Doing a school series instead of another "8 badges to championship" plot felt new and fresh!
This series genuinely made me cry the most (MEMORIES IN THE MIST!!!!! LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME)
Chronicles (S0)
Fun concept! It was really nice to see more of the side characters without Ash there. We get to see more of Misty, Tracey, Daisy, Brock, Ritchie, Oak, Delia, Butch, Cassidy, Jessie, James and Meowth!
Stylistically really nice. Just solid drawings all around and it retained the 90s anime style in digital form more successfully than other digitally done series imo
BUTCH AND CASSIDY!!! Team Rocket centric episodes!!! Training Daze!!!!!!!
Idk how possible it would have been (seems like a TON of work) but it made me want one of these in between each season, where we'd follow the characters that Ash had just said goodbye to for the next region.
Diamond and Pearl (S10-S13)
Series I grew up with! Honestly I was kinda a hater as a kid but having watched it back, I love the series
Love that Ash and Dawn were bros. They had a really fun dynamic.
Debatably peak Team Rocket. They had some of the best Team Rocket centric episodes this series.
Contests were really fun and a bit more figured out compared to the Advanced series
Fun, memorable rivals for Ash (Paul and Barry) as well as Dawn (Zoey, Kenny and Jessilina sometimes)
This is unfortunately where I stopped caring about Ash as much. He feels kinda watered down for the next couple series.
Advanced (S6-S9)
Pretty tied up with DP for me
Really fun series! Still had some of that early Pokémon charm
I appreciated that they put Ash in more of a mentor role for May (but he still had a lot to learn himself).
Ash and May constantly butting heads was really fun
May was a very compelling character to me, being very clumsy, kinda lazy, directionless, not really into Pokémon, etc. But then over time, she comes around and finds something she's interested in!
Journeys (S23-S25)
I love the episodic take as well as the way they let the characters jump around from region to region at random
Goh was a GREAT travel companion to Ash. They contrast each other nicely, have moments where they get on each others' nerves but still get along and have a mutual admiration for one another.
It was fun that they made Goh's thing catching every Pokémon (the motto of the entire series) so they could focus on Ash just training and prepping for Worlds.
Amaaaazing style. Took the great parts of classic Pokémon, roundness of SM and blended em together for a really fun look.
Black & White (S14-S16)
I don't think it's that controversial to have BW this low haha
I did enjoy Iris and Cilan but it felt like the writers didn't reaaally know what to do with them? Also this was their first time in a while not having Brock and it shows. I feel like Brock was successful because he was grounded and lower energy compared to the rest of the kids. Having 3 pretty eccentric characters is kind of a lot. No hate to the characters in the slightest, there was just not as much balance.
I think maybe they leaned on Cilan and Iris for more comedic relief because they killed the comedic relief that was Team Rocket this series. I appreciate them trying something new with Jessie, James and Meowth but I don't think it worked very well lol
XY (S17-S19)
I've ranted about this series a lot LOL. I get the appeal of it, but it just wasn't for me. I felt like it was the weakest comedy-wise and took itself a bit too seriously for my taste
My main gripe is that Serena, Clemont and Bonnie all like,,, worship Ash. By doing so, Ash begins to feel like a side character because we're constantly looking at Ash through their eyes. There's so little conflict within the group so their dynamics feel really flat. I think this dynamic could have worked if they leaned waaay more into Ash being a mentor and maybe feeling the pressure of having to be a role model for the people around him.
Team Rocket very much feels like an afterthought in this series. They did in Journeys as well, but at least in Journeys they were doing something silly and also had a handful of episodes dedicated to em.
Outside of that, the episodes weren't super memorable for me
I think it's just frustrating because there was sooooo much potential character-wise

I read the Zoey Ashe series casually over like five weeks in the spring, it almost gave me fandom brain again, and at the very least restored my faith in my ability to get lost in books. Definitely gave me the confidence to buy physical copies of all four John Dies at the End books while knowing nothing about them aside from Jason Pargin's brain being behind the curtain. I'm now basically done with the fourth volume in less than three weeks and I already feel the void coming. Gonna to have to fill it with other satire that probably won't hit as hard. Gonna have to write the author and tell him what his stuff has done for me. I haven't been fixated on any media in years at this point but I wanna live in the JDATE world!!

You write Pearlshipping so well that... it makes me momentarily forget that they're going to break up and Dawn is going to be with Zoey... Tense. Continuing, I'm still new and I don't fully understand the lore here, but will Ash be with someone after Dawn?
AAWww thanks QAQ NGL I havent shared much about the lore behind my AU yet, just some tidbits here and there.
Like, I have most of it planned, but I want to have at the very least the first fic series ongoing before sharing the whole timeline because if I tell yall one thing and change ideas later I'll just die
But in short, I have a bunch of fics planned that take place immediately after the anime. With the very first one focusing on a Legends Arceus arc. After that I have some more fics, mostly focusing on Ash and Dawn very slow burn into a relationship and some with them after they start dating, with my final fic being somewhat in the middle of their dating (most of my art that shows adult Ash and Dawn would take place around here? timeline wise)
And then, in a post "canon" (or just after all my main fics), I have Ash and Dawn break up (in very good terms) and Dawn starts dating Zoey some time later.
And to answer your question, Ash does end up dating some other people, I think Serena and Goh for sure (maybe Misty too?) but they also don't stay together for long. And after ALL of that is when Ash and Dawn get together again, with all 3 (Zoey included) agreeing in a polycule with Dawn being the glue that holds them together :v

So I'm few chapters into Zoey is Too Drunk for this Dystopia (we pre-ordered it and it arrived at the bookstore earlier than expected), and already there is a recurring line that makes me very excited. Basically every time a character is introduced, it's with the sentence "[Name] who the press described as either X or Y, depending on the publication...". Those exact words, every five pages, for Zoey and Arthur and Will and Echo and everyone else.
And given that the premise/plot of the book (going off the summary/back cover) is all about politics and the election, that points to what I imagine will be the central theme. The previous books have obviously had the suits focus on spin and media and reputation management, that's a huge part of their job. But I'm still excited to see it focused on as the main motif for this book.

ask meme! can I...can I ask you all of them? (the one you made up with like five or so questions with emojis I mean) :D :D :D
🎬 which fic would you want to see made into a movie or tv show? (Assuming obviously this can happen) Go into details about why and what you’d want it to look like!
This actually has two different answers depending on the medium but I’m going to go with the mini series of Such A Time As This aka Jewish Anne Boleyn. I don’t know who I would cast (if anyone knows any Persian Jewish actors for Anne I would love to know so then I can make some specific self indulgent graphics) but I do know how I would structure it (eight-ten episodes). And that it would be released over Purim.
The creative team (writers, producers, costumers) is entirely Jewish/Mizrahi Jewish.
(Listen if I could age some actors back and you know do it, I would love to see the OT3 verse on screen though).
🎧 your favourite singer/band is going to write an album about a fic of yours - which fic and what would the album be like?
I mean Taylor Swift has already contributed so much to the Tudors Fandom I would love to see a Taylor Swift album specifically focused on the Tudors OT3 Verse. Like yes please where is my themed album it would be a banger. (Specifically about the OT3). I would also accept an album about the OT3 verse in general/some of the couples specifically composed by some of my favourite artists (Beyonce, Taylor, Olivia, Maisie, Maureen Nehedar).
🎨 what scenes from your fic(s) do you really really want fanart of?
Anything from Such A Time As This but specifically:
Anne in Persian Jewish dress, praying and echoing Esther.
Thomas Cromwell (in this fic he’s half Jewish) also praying
OT3 Verse (PLEASE)
Anne, Henry and Thomas all in bed together
Anne and her husbands with their children
Their wedding
There’s a specific moment involving Norwich that’s a spoiler but uh, THAT.
The one’s below
Mihrimah and Thomas’ wedding

📓 list your current WIPs
Grishaverse Hunger Games (currently working on individual chapters for each character and trying to avoid picking a district for them except I know Nikolai :cough: Sturmhond is District 4)
Horse And His Boy Fix It (I have nothing at the moment but it’s something I would like to do)
Crown Of Ashes (It’s just all Norwich being The Worst and also Patrick Gibson is really good at acting/looking sad but brave and good)
Rewrite The Stars 2.0 (Trying not to listen to the brain weasels that say that no one cares about your stupid little niche AU ship dot gif)
Sam/Donna/Josh President Seaborn modern AU. I did have a line come into my brain. “They got married. Technically you could say it was illegal but no one paid attention to that in favour of gushing over the fashion”
TWW Hunger Games (Am I going to write more of this? I mean I don’t think so but if I did there are some ideas)
Tortall Found Family (I can be a better boyfriend than him and Jon of Conte is CORRECT).
CJ was kidnapped not Zoey AU (maybe maybe because @miabicicletta is an enabler I’ll write some of the background if it comes to me)

I’m Starting to Worry About This Black Box of Doom by Jason Pargin
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
ARC provided through NetGalley
Pub Day: 09/24/24
What do you do when a random woman orders a rideshare and then asks you to drive her and her mystery box across the country, for $200,000 dollars? Well, if you’re Abbott Coburn, apparently you agree. You leave behind all your electronics and head east on an old fashioned road trip. What could possibly go wrong? A mysterious box in an SUV headed toward DC could never lead to any sort of wild speculation, right?
This book was not what I expected. I tried to go in with zero expectations, but as we all know that’s basically impossible. So I expected, while this was a standalone novel, it would function much like his other works: a story taking place in our world, but not really. The John, Dave, and Amy books are cosmic horror comedies, and the Zoey Ashe series is a near future, sci-fi series, so they deal with modern day topics through the lenses and expectations of those genres. I’ve always liked that about Pargin’s work. It is close enough that the real world problems are there, but they are exaggerated by the fantastical elements the genres bring and allows for them to be talked about in really interesting ways. . . with fart jokes. This book was the most uncomfortable reading experience I’ve had reading a Jason Pargin novel and that’s not a bad thing.
With none of the trappings of horror and sci-fi through which to filter the discussions of humanity, you are left with a story, set in a very real world, that can be uncomfortable to inhabit. Every POV character has a valid point. Every POV character makes bad choices. There seems to be no good guy to root for. There seems to be no bad guy to root against. They are all just people. Making their way through life, making the best choices they can, with what information they have, in the most difficult world: ours. But isn’t that kind of the point?
This book has compelling characters, a fun plot, and a lot to say about how humans interact with each other, in person and online. And if you’re interested in discussions about online spaces and how they have been affecting our lives for the last 30 years, this is a very entertaining way to approach that subject matter.
As a long time fan, this story felt new while also staying true to the voice Jason has cultivated over his previous seven books. The ability to discuss difficult topics in a nuanced way has always been my favorite thing about Jason Pargin's work, and that is alive and well in Box of Doom.

Reading the third installment of the Zoey Ashe series. Lots of thoughts so far on gender and the way Zoe is written and the question of if jason can actually criticize structural sexism as well as he thinks he does when he's still a man writing some of those same sexist tropes in a female main character, but all that aside, Syrniki mention so I'm currently olding off on rating the plot in favor of being very excited that one of my childhood comfort foods is mentioned, albeit by a guy who might be a prostitute-maiming murder fetishist.

January 2023 Reading Wrap-Up (Part 1)
So.... I had a lot of reading done in January. I was on an ebook reading kick and just couldn't stop reading., so most of my reads were ebooks with a few audiobooks thrown in. It was a great feeling. It was really fantastic.
Because I read so much this last month, I'm splitting my wrap-up in 3 parts. Here is my first set of January reads. 😁
Be warned: spoilers are ahead.
----------------
"Tempest" by Miranda Bridges and Kyra Snow, book 4 in the Elemental Mates series.
Zoey is having a bad day. Kidnapped, sold, abandoned on an unfamiliar planet, almost sacrificed and then running into a hot, grumpy alien. Kai thought he would never have a mate after his died, but here he is reacting to a human.
This was a fun and fast-paced story. I liked that Kai was fighting his feelings and doing his best to reassure Zoey that she wasn't just going to be a breeder for his people and how their relationship grew.
I do kind of wish that they hadn't found Kai's mother on the same planet that Zoey was abandoned on, but that was a minor issue overall. I loved how Zoey interacted with Kai and all the names she gave him when he refused to give her his actual name. I loved all the twists and turns the story took as well.
I can't wait for the next story as it looks like it will be a lot of fun and drama as well. I can't wait to see what will happen next.
4.5/5 stars - January 5th to January 5th
---------------
"Zephyr" by Miranda Bridges and Kyra Snow, Book 5 of the Elemental Mates series.
This was one of my favorite of the series.
Daxis has issues with being touched or touching others, but when he accidentally comes in contact with the human, Dawn, he is horrified to find that she is his mate. Dawn is attracted to Daxis but isn't sure why he seems to hate her despite them being mates.
I just really loved this story. Daxis has a lot of baggage from his past and it affects his relationship with Dawn. Surprisingly, Dawn was much strong that I anticipated her being and she shows it a lot throughout. Her growth was well done.
I also really enjoyed seeing more of Adam, Hazel's brother from book one, and how life has changed for him.
5/5 stars - January 5th to January 6th
---------------
"Terra" by Miranda Bridges, Book 6 of the Elemental Mates series.
This book was interesting because Ivy, the human, is unaware of the other humans already rescued and everything else that has been going on.
Ivy is found to be "defective" due to her scars and is supposed to be food for what she calls a "Fire Wolf". However, the wolf bonds with her instead. Maxim needs the wolf to help find the Master and discovers that Ivy is also his mate.
I liked this story and thought it was pretty cute overall. I liked the new characters and the mystery behind the Master. I also found the wolf to be really cool as well.
I did wish it was a bit longer to flesh out the romance a bit more, but overall was a quick and cute read.
3.5/5 stars - January 7th to January 7th
---------------
"Amethyst" by Miranda Bridges, Book 7 in the Elemental Mates series.
I couldn't stop reading this book (unless I was forced to due to work).
We follow Ash (aka, the Master) on his quest to take down his uncle when he runs into his mate, Cora. Cora has been away from Earth for so long that she had to find a job as a stripper just to get by.
I loved this one! Ash finding Cora and their romance was so sweet. I also liked seeing all the previous characters returns and how everything came together in the end.
The romance was rushed,. but not as much as the previous book, and I loved that Cora took the lead the first time.
Overall, this was one of my favorite of the series and I would re-read this series again.
4.5/5 stars - January 7th to January 8th
---------------
"A Walk Along the Beach" by Debbie Macomber, Book 2 in the Oceanside series.
What a read!
After loosing their mother, Willa took it upon herself to care for her younger sister, Harper, and their father while her brother, Lucas, was in the military. Three years after Harper beat cancer, Willa has her bakery and lives with Harper in a small apartment. Harper encourages Willa to start dating freelance photographer, Sean, and everything is looking good. But all is thrown into chaos when Harper's cancer returns.
For the most part, this was good. Characters were interesting and I even cried at points (had to really focus when I was driving and listening to this audiobook at the same time). A lot of things kept me guessing and didn't go as expected.
However, I did feel like Willa forgave Sean a bit too easily at the end and that she should have blown up at him more than once. I know that it is just my personal opinion, but I think it was too easy for Sean to get back into her good graces after everything.
Overall, it was a good book.
3.5/5 stars - December 30th, 2022 - January 8th
---------------
"Artek" by Honey Phillips, Book 1 in the Seven Brides for Seven Alien Brothers series.
A very cute read.
Artek and his military brothers settled on a ranch after a senseless war in order to start a new life. Now, 2 years later, Artek is ready for companionship and has his eyes on Nelly, the shopkeeper's daughter. Nelly takes the chance on a change and marries Artek, since she has also been attracted to him for a while as well.
This wasn't the strongest story in my opinion. Artek and Nelly didn't have a ton of conflict and what they did have was resolved so quickly that it didn't do much to the overall story plot.
This felt more like a book set up to introduced all the other characters more than a book about growing a relationship between Artek and Nelly. Nelly and Artek spet very little time communicating to each other, which made it hard to accept that they fell in love. Most interactions were off-page.
Overall, it was cute story with Nelly learning about the ranch and meeting the other brothers (who are all different alien species) and everything. It did make me interested in the other brothers, which I feel was this book's ultimate goal.
3.5/5 stars - January 9th to January 10th
---------------
"Benjar" by Honey Phillips, Book 2 in the Seven Brides for Seven Alien Brothers series.
This was, again, a cute read, but just not very strong in the story.
Benjar kidnaps Ruby to be his bride, which is not what she anticipated when dreaming of an adventure. Now they are stuck together during a snowstorm and may find exactly what they need in each other.
Overall, the story was cute. I really enjoyed as Benjar was attracted to Ruby but thought that she wasn't right for him because she didn't meet his requirements he had planned out. I also liked how they thought of their other brothers, who didn't come to kidnap girls, and kidnapped them brides also.
My problem came with the romance part. I felt like it was way too fast with no idea of how much time was passing, so it all felt like it was same day.
I did enjoy it overall, and I was still interested in continuing the series.
3.5/5 stars - January 10th to January 11th
---------------
"Callum" by Honey Phillips, Book 3 of the Seven Brides for Seven Alien Brothers series.
This is the book where the series picked up for me.
Pearl find her sister, Ruby from book 2, kidnapped and goes after her only to be caught in an avalanche. She is rescued by Callum, one of the aliens who purchased the nearby ranch and who Pearl has been attracted to. The two are stuck together until the snowstorm lets up causing the unspoken attraction between them to come into the forefront.
I loved this! There wasn't anything between these two other than glances until they were forced to spend time together. I loved watching the relationship grown and become more.
Callum and Pearl were both hurt in the past, which they have made peace with alone, but I loved how they found additional peace with each other. We also start to get hints of things going on outside of this small community and that really interested me to know what else was going to happen.
It gave me hope that this series would just continue to improve and be really great.
5/5 stars - January 11th to January 11th
---------------
"Drakkar" by Honey Phillips, Book 4 in the Seven Brides for Seven Alien Brothers series.
Drakkar's story was very sweet.
Drakkar knows that his kind do not mate for life. They come together briefly for procreation and then go back off on their own again. They prefer solitude. Despite this, Drakkar leaves his home planet and joins his military brethren on a new world restoring a decrepit ranch. His is surprised when a vulnerable human, Kitty, awakens his protective instincts. Kitty has made many mistakes in her life, but knows that despite how she came to be her daughter isn't one of them. When things get a bit intense with her daughter's father, Drakkar rescues them and takes them to his cave in the mountains. Kitty isn't sure she can trust him, but that doesn't stop her from falling for him.
I really enjoyed this story because Drakkar was so vulnerable with Kitty and her daughter. Their interactions were sweet.
Like that others in this series, the romance did go a bit fast, but that didn't distract me too much from the story. I really liked it.
4.5/5 stars - January 11th to January 12th
---------------
"Endark" by Honey Phillips, Book 5 of the Seven Brides for Seven Alien Brothers series.
This was one of my favorite in the series so far!
Endark is slowly going crazy and the only thing that he can do is get a mate. A mate will calm the rage within him due to his alien nature, at least he hopes it will and he isn't too far gone. He knows that humans fear his kind so he has no choice but to kidnap his mate. Becky is doing everything she can to support herself and her younger brother. Getting kidnapped wasn't part of the plan. Now she finds herself trapped with an alien that both terrifies and excites her.
I just really loved this story.
Endark really had to work to win Becky's trust because of the mistrust humans have towards his alien race. I also liked that he respected her to wait for her despite his need to claim her as his mate to save himself.
I also liked how Becky's brother was there and was an added complication that Endark didn't expect, but accepted, and how Endark won over both of them.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one and wanted to go right into the next (which doesn't come out until later in February). Very sweet.
4/5 stars - January 12th to January 13th
---------------
So that is part one of all the books read in January. I'll post part two soon. There will probably be 3 parts to this, but that is just how many books I read in this month.
Thanks for sticking around and Happy Reading!
