Hello TT ji, I was reading your really old IB lbs and I saw that you wrote that Annika was one of your fav female tellywood characters (early on in the show, when she doesn't take society's bs of her so called character assassination saving Shivaay from being deemed a murderer). Made me curious, what other tellywood female characters have you been a fan of?
Hello anon!
Oh man, I really really loved the Anika of yore. I miss her so muchhhhh right now. Oh well.
The following is by no means a comprehensive list, but just a few (lead) characters I’ve loved over the years that came to me when I received your question:
Parvati Agarwal (Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki): I always liked her best from among the leading ladies of the three big K serials (Kyunki, Kahaan, Kasautii…) Sakshi played her with this amazing strength and dignity, and she went on to be just an all-round badass as the show went on. She was my TV mom!
Zoya Farooqi (Qubool Hai): She was the draw of that whole show for me. She was so lovely and strong-willed and quirky and just… She literally lit up every life she touched. She was pure love and sunshine. I know they phased it out later, but I used to really love when they used to touch upon her interest and aptitude for technology, showing us a facet that girls aren’t really shown having in Tellywood.
Paakhi Shekhawat/Rathore (Tumhari Paakhi):  She was such a bright spirit, and so determined yet dignified in the way she fought for her position in Anshuman’s family. The sheer sweetness and brilliance of Paakhi made me overcome a show premise that I wouldn’t normally consider watching (child marriage, the hero already has a child, yet another urban/rural divide, etc.)
Aliya Ghulam Haider (Beintehaa): I was just drawn to her because she was a regular, no-nonsense forthright kinda girl who didn’t put up with bullshit from Zain, as much as she loved him. Perhaps the only female lead I’ve seen who has the most pragmatic approach to a marriage.
Gauri Kumari Sharma (DBO/Ishqbaaaz): Reasons here. She isn’t flawless (as per my perception) but I love her, flaws and all.
For that matter, all the girls featured in Ishqbaaz, like Mallika, Tia, Saumya, Svetlana, even Bhavya to a certain extent… Other than Mallika, their characters never got due justice in the show, but I still love them. A lot.

Hey TT, how are you? I was wondering that the 4Lions FLs (except Anika) are characterized as having strong faith in the almighty. How would say Khushi, Zoya and Gauri are different wrt to their relationship with Devi maiyaa, Allah miyaan, and Shankarji? Would you say there is any difference at all?
Hi anon!
The defining characteristic between all these three is that they see God as a friend and have unconventional, informal conversations with them as such. The only major difference I would say is that (in the earlier half of the show) Khushi seems to adhere to the more traditional tenets of religion, and tends to force them on others who may not share her POV  (to an annoying degree), The other two do have their moments where they debate religion and their viewpoints to someone who doesn’t agree (interestingly, Asad is the only 4 Lions male who conforms more strictly to religion than the female lead), but largely their faith is more about their OWN relationship with God than anyone else’s.

Surbhi Joyti
The second main lead was this pretty girl, who as still part of qubool hai but not as Zoya she is known now as Sanem Ahmad Khan the daughter of  Asad and Zoya.....
to Zoya I can say, she was a beautiful girl and I mean she was really beautiful in her deep! She always wanted that everybody is happy like she is and that was often the reason she create problems .... like she went to Ayaan engagement and create there problems.... but this problems were one of the mean reason why ASYA came closer to each other !
Zoya flew to Indiato  find her dad, she staid there in the Khan Villa and that was the reason when asya started.... and we get to watch a beautiful journey of asya .....
But Allah was always with Zoya in her troubles and she finally found her abbu and a sister and a wonderful ( and a handsome :D)  brother .... her life was perfect like everygirl want it ....
Zoya was a powerful girl and deal with every problem ...
her favorite food was pizza that's the reason I always think of her when I ate pizza!
Thats was our

Read your comparison of Khushi and Gauri, and I loved every word you wrote. Such a brilliant comparison! So, I want to ask you a difficult question now. I think you've seen Qubool Hai right? If you had to point out similarities between Zoya and Gauri, what would they be? I know, both of them are as different as night and day, but just for fun if you had to attempt it, what are the similarities between them? I know, probably there is none, but I love reading your views.
Hi anon!
Aaaaah, thanks so much! These kinda answers take a fair bit of time and brain racking, and it’s always nice to get appreciation! :)
Off the top of my head, here the similarities between Zoya and Gauri. I’m sure there are more, but it’s been a really long time since I’ve watched QH, and I’m forgetting a lot of specific events in Zoya’s life.
Quite similar personalities actually; both are ✨✨✨Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice.✨✨✨
Bhagodi Dulhans unite! 👰🏽👰🏽👰🏽🏃🏽🏃🏽🏃🏽
Relentlessly cheerful and kind, despite their traumatic childhoods. 💖💖💖
Will not stand for your BS patriarchal and misogynistic character assassination based on faulty comprehension skillz, and will fully rip you a new one if you try. 😤😤😤
Are adopted, and have been raised pretty affectionately, but both still have an intense craving for the love and feeling of belonging, which they ultimately find with the male leads’ families. 😌😌😌
Quirky little manic pixies, who drive the people around them to amusement and the male lead to teeth-gnashing frustration. 🙃🙃🙃
Have saasumaas who love them and are always advocating for them against grumpy son. Sibling(s) of male lead instantly love her and adopt them as honorary sister. 😘😘😘
Overenthu chirraiyyas who like to get all up in everyone’s business out of sheer curiosity. 👀👀👀
Wickedly clever, and get outta pickles (that they got themselves in, honestly) with increasingly creative schemes. 😎😎😎
Experts in verbally destroying people with the sweetest, angelic smiles on their faces. 😇😇😇
Both ruled by their stomachs. 🍕🍕🍕
Endless patience and forgiveness with their bullheaded male leads, who have almost gotten them murdered thanks to their BS. Just too damn good for these idiots, really. They should leave their undeserving asses already. 😒😒😒

If Zoya, Mallika and Gauri started a Bhagodi Dulhans club, what would they name it?
The “Fuck the Patriarchy” Joggers Club.
Alternately: The Fast and The Furious (at this goddamn Fuckery). Or “Abracadabra, dekho mera bhaagna, pehanke ghagra!”
Also, of course Anika, who also ran away (or well, she tried!) and Tia would be a part of it too!!!!!!
