Their actual first meeting in the Kyoshi Warriors AU!
Katara had her Oh moment before exchanging a word with Jian Li, and while she gets over it in time (or, at least, convinces herself that she's not embarrassed by her initial reaction to him) this quasi-interaction haunts her for the first couple of days of their stay in Kyoshi Island.
It's just not fair that the place is full of gorgeous people! Or that he's not only beautiful, but also kind and awkward and respectful and dorky and—oh, La—she's in trouble.

I rewatched Zuko and Azula's Agni Kai recently and it's left me wondering – when Zuko begins to goad Azula into striking him with lightning, was he making the decision to kill her?
Because had Azula shot lightning directly at him like he planned and not at Katara, the most forthright implication to me is that he was intending to strike Azula with her own lightning. And Azula, for all her mastery, would not have been able to counter that.
On the other hand, maybe he wasn't planning to kill her at all and was simply planning to redirect it elsewhere (similar to what he did with Ozai). But given the tone of tragedy throughout the Agni Kai, the fact that they both acknowledge that this fight will be "the end" to them, I don't think it's inaccurate to read Zuko's actions as him preparing to kill Azula, even though an Agni Kai doesn't have to end with death (and in canon it didn't). Also, why goad her into striking him with lightning if he wasn't planning on doing something intentional with it? If anything, it adds another layer to the tragedy to me, because I don't believe Zuko wants to kill her. And it stands in such contrast to the way that Azula desperately wants to kill him.
I also think that there would have even been something sadly poetic in that sort of demise for Azula should the Agni Kai had gone this direction: Azula, struck down by her preferred sub-skill. Azula, struck down by the very bolt of lightning that she intended to kill her brother with. Azula, struck down by her own power.

Zuko joins the Gaang at Ba Sing Se, but Azula still succeeds with the coup.
With Zuko in the group, Sokka sees an opportunity to Look Good In Front Of Dad, a Sokka priority at all times. To do that, he convinces Zuko to tell his dad stories. Stories where the heroic Water Tribe operative tasked with protecting the Avatar thwarts the Evil Fire Prince who has a bad haircut.
Zuko agrees, because he was bad and now he's good and, uh, it's fine to make fun of him? They probably want to do that, with all the kidnapping and chasing and fire. So he should let them. Do that.
Hakoda listens to painfully fake stories and watches Zuko wax poetic about being defeated time and time again by a cunning and brave Water Tribe warrior (who wasn't bad with the ladies, either) and comes to a Conclusion.
After all, it makes a lot more sense than the Fire Prince just deciding to be good, even though that was how said Fire Prince, in his usual eloquent manner, had put it.
Combined with the upcoming Day of Black Sun... well. The Southern Water Tribe has been declining for a while now. If the war really is about to end, they'll need every advantage they can get to survive the peace that follows.
So, one night he gathers the tribal leaders and the trusted men in secret, and tells them that Prince Zuko is in love with Prince Sokka. Because it would be very prudent to have princes right about now. Princes that the Southern Water Tribe have always had and just forgot about until now.
(Prince Sokka must, of course, be told of his new station.
Prince Sokka takes the news well.)
Prince Zuko, a prince of a much older line of princes (meaning more than three hours old), is... really confused. They want to make him part of the tribe? Is that okay? What do you mean marriage NO I WON'T LOWER MY VOICE UNCLE, WHAT DO YOU MEAN MARRIAGE
Sokka spreads tales of their manly brand of love, borne of hopeless adoration from one warrior to another, much cooler and more badass warrior. Zuko's forehead starts becoming permanently red.
Hakoda is beginning to wonder if he's misunderstood the situation. If he rushed the spear, so to speak. If declaring his son a prince was a tad hasty of him.
Bato is tired.

16 year old King Baldwin IV about Saladin probably. You can't convince me that this teenager didn't atleast have some mood swings and sass around that time.

kinda obsessed with the idea of married zutara with matching hair loops
and now imagine: zuko realizing that his hair is long enough to put it into little loops and him standing infront of a mirror and styling his hair all giggly cause he can't wait for kataras reaction when she sees them

It’s so funny reading Zutara and Azutara/Kazula fics at the same time bc the Fire Sibs’ responses to Aang could NOT be more different
Zuko: but he’s our friend, how do we make him feel better about this
Azula: “can’t wait til he reincarnates into a more pleasant individual”

POV: You're Azula. Father has ordered you to track Zuko down and bring him back to the Fire Nation for his treachery at the North Pole. No one even quite knows what he was doing there, but there's no reason to doubt the reports that he was there. Maybe he's fallen in with the Avatar, like your uncle apparently has.
It doesn't really matter. You have a job to do.
You find him in Omashu, of all places. You'd really only gone there to collect Mai. You didn't expect to run into Zuko while you were at it. He's accompanied by a pair of Earth Kingdom children, one of whom is clearly blind. He's really let himself go in his exile- if it weren't for the distinctive burn, you're not sure you would have even recognized him.
You make him an offer. Father has changed his mind about his exile. He thinks he did the right thing at the North Pole- Zhao's plan to kill the moon was foolish, and would have had consequences even for the Fire Nation. He'll restore your honor.
For a moment, you think you have him... but then his gaze turns hard. He says no. You sigh. You wanted to do this the easy way, out of consideration for the fact that he's your brother, but very well. If he wants to make this harder than it has to be, you suppose you can do that.
You attack. The blind Earth Kingdom child is an earthbender, but to your surprise, the other one turns out to be an airbender. Somehow, that's not what ends up surprising you the most.
Zuko earthbends.
Zuko didn't just throw his lot in with the Avatar. He is the Avatar.

wait one more thing about Ember Island Players that's so funny is like... imagine creating a show and then becoming either frustrated/annoyed/bemused that a sizable part of your fandom ships two characters that you don't want them to. And instead of ignoring it or letting it lie, they decide to use this episode as a moment to show these fans how silly that ship is. And sure, maybe its all supposed to be in good fun but like if the goal, in-part, was to discourage people shipping them, I cannot emphasize enough how acknowledging the pairing in-universe, having people consistently mistake them for a couple, and having said characters constantly over-react to the very notion and get belligerently defensive because they are very much not dating why would you say that is extremely antithetical to that goal.

I do think its a little comical how the cast/writers are handling bobbys death relative to the leak from like late March where Bobby calls from a casket.
Because everyone is completely ignoring that part of this 'is he actually dead or is he getting resurrected' thing.
Everyone is basically going 'on god guys hes actually dead, theres nothing going on behind the scenes, yall need to learn to cope' and that script leak is just hanging out in the backround.
This entire thing is the biggest case of gaslighting that Ive ever seen happen between a shows creators and the fandom
