blueeyeswhitegarden said: Yeah, it's pretty mind boggling. Most of the spin-off series start off with just establishing the new cast and/or setting and even then some series like VR and ZXL don't do any kind of world building. A5 was establishing clear major plot points from the start, introducing the new cast and fleshing out the new world from day one. That doesn't mean that everyone would like the series from the start or that it was perfect, but the notion that it had no plot is ridiculous.
The fact that there was stuff IN THE BACKGROUND meant there would be a plot especially that early on. Shows that have no plot just have stuff happen in one episode with no baring to the next episode. The fact things were happening as early as episode 7 meant Arc-V was filled with plot.
Vr might have had action in episode 1 but so much of the conflict was largely arc to arc so it was mainly useless to the point by the end of VR, it’s hard to say there was a full story. Same for ZXL. The number hunting is mostly independent from the Ba//rians and the “assassins” the Ba///rians are pretty much one-shots.

You mean Zarc’s deck acts like an actual deck and not a tool to bring out a really op card and then just focus on it? Shocking right.

i’d screencap every single time a yoshida-composed yugioh used this line but i dont have the energy to skim thru the bullshit to find it each time but i guarantee you it happens in each iteration of yugioh he’s laid his unoriginal hands on.

Arc V Anniversary - Week 1 Standard
I decided that I would make the discussion prompts of this month once per week, so here we go:
Day 1:
How did you get into Arc V, and what keeps you coming back?
Since I didn’t watch Zxl, the first time I learn about Arc V was through a promo image (the one of  Yuya with his two magicians), ironically when I first saw it, my first thought was that he looked like a very colorful version of Yugi xD
When more characters were revealed, despite the fact that I was reluctant to get into it beause the design looked to similar to the one of zxl, I remember thinking that unlike the palette from there that semmed to slap me in the eyes with its colors, the ones of Arc V looked very balanced and I guess that helped me having a slight hope that I might like it.
What keeps me coming back? Everything, there’s very few I don’t love about the series.
Day2:
Is/How is Arc V a part of your daily life?
Through this blog and my writing.
Unless there’s something of a major cause happening in RL, I’m always in touch with the new content and fandom, and especially with the friends I made through with the series.
It had been such a long time since I got this involved in a fandom.
Day 3
3. What was your first impression of Arc V? Of your now favorite character or ship?
Lol, I think I sort of answered the first part of this question on day 1, so I’m skipping to what are my favorite characters first impressions (because the ship list is a little too long :P)
Yuya: Why does he look like a tomato?/As if someone dipped Yugi into a christmas palette?
Yuzu: Wow, she’s so pink! I really hope she gets to do stuff!
Reiji: Okay, this is literally the most hipster character I ever seen in anime, and it looks like someone gave Kaiba a turn of the millenium make over
Day 4
4. Who’s your favorite character(s)?
As stated above, my favorite characters are the main trio of the series, all of them for different reasons, they all three just fit so perfectly in the type of characters I usually go for in almost all of the media I consume, Yuya as the insecure, soft-hearted kid who has to grow up, Yuzu as the empathic person and determination, and Reiji as the misundertood loner with good intentions if somewhat questionable methods.
So I guess it was to be expected I’d love the series.
Day 5
5. Favorite character design/outfit?
I love almost everything about every chatacter and monster design in Arc V, as I stated before, it’s so vivid and colorful but not in a in-your-face kind of way, I guess that even though the designs are colorful there’s a undercurrent of softness to their expressions that balances them out.
For example, Yuya’s outfit is super colorful and typical of a hero, but his eyes and expression speaks of a softer and vulnerable personality, Yuzu’s design is very girly and also typical of the shonen heroine, but her posture and her smile comes across as someone very confident, Reiji looked like your rival character turned hipster, but his expression lacked the usual spite and arroagnce of rivals.
That type of thing I guess.
Day 6
6. Favorite family/friend/platonic relationships?
I have so many platonic relationships I love in this show, because it’s one of the main reasons this series has had a grip on me for so many years, because it made such a good job at portraying different types of them!
I guess my favorites will the ones of the parents with their respective kids, because it was such a fresh air to get parents that were actually important and involved in their kids lives (even for Leo in a very very negative wa lol)
Day 7
7. What was your favorite early fandom theory? Or, what was one of your own personal favorite theories from your first watch through of the show?
Damn, there were so many theories, that I can’t remember if there was one that was particularly appealing to me, since it was hard to keep track of all of them.
I remember one in which people said that both Sora and Yuto were from the future where everything was destroyed because of Pendulum Summon and also the one where Yuto was Yuya and Yuzu’s kid from the future, I didn’t particularly buy it, but it was entertaianing to think about it.

So after some encouragement from twitter, I’ve decided to write down my feelings about the Yusaku/Revolver rivalry, since their second duel is coming up, and I don’t have the highest exceptions in it, except that were bound to learn more about the Lost Incident, and Ignis.
Also to keep it fair I’ll be analyzing the past rivals only up to their second duel, with the exception of GX. That being said let’s dive in.
I’ll be basing rivals and their rivalries based off three points:
1. Their motivation to win.
2. Their effect on the protagonist, or vise versa.
3. Their threat as a rival.
Off the bat Revolver does hold for point three: he’s the leader of a terrorist group, however as a rival Revolver lost most of his treat, at least to me, after losing to Yusaku. Of course other rivals have as well, but I respect them more as a rival and character than Revolver. Let’s go over previous rivals.
To get the easy ones out of the way: Reiji and Kaito.
While both of their first duels against their protagonists ended inclusive, it’s very clear Reiji and Kaito would have both won their duel. Which is amazing considering protagonists is ygo are usually unbeatable. So their threat as a rival stands.
Not only that, their motivation which we learn well before their second duel against the protagonists is phenomenal: Reiji’s discover his father started an interdimensional war and wants to stop it, he’s a rival to Yuya to push him further to evolve him and his dueling so Yuya can become a powerful Lancer. Kaito wants to save his little brother who is suffering and gets off on pain now. He antagonizes Yuma and Astral because they hold the number cards that can save Haruto.
Finally, their effect on the protagonists. After Yuma and Astral’s duel the two are afraid, of losing and disappearing and I’m pretty sure after that Yuma goes to the Duel Temple, I may be mistaken. Yuya, learning other people can use Pendulum Summoning, shuts down once again and it takes a duel with Shuzo to pull out of it.
So both Kaito and Reiji are phenomenal rivals, the best if I might say.
And while both did win their duel against Yuma and Yuya the second time, those duels happen at later points (ep 72 (i think) and ep 51 of Zxl and A5 respectively) which is later than the presumably ep 34-36 range that the second duel of Yusaku and Revolver will take place, so these points were ignored will giving Kaito and Reiji their checks.
Next, Jack, since his first (on screen) duel with Yusei ended inclusive as well. However, according to Jack, Yusei would have won their duel had it continued.
So instead of effecting Yusei, the inclusive duel effects Jack and causes him to struggle and wonder if he is worthy of being King. So their rivalry passes the second check.
Now motivation, Jack’s motivation prior to their first is to find a better life than the shitty one he had in the satellite. He achieves this goal and vows to never look back. But when Yusei, his past, comes after him he strives to beat to prove that he’s better than Yusei, the satellite, that he’s better than garbage. So point one checks.
Point three for all the rivals from now one is gonna be iffy because they lose against the protagonist, and that to me, makes them not a threat. But for Jack, he didn’t technically lose, and as the final boss for the fortune cup and seeing his resolve to beat Yusei makes it hard to willingly want him to lose.
Next we have the interesting case of Manjoume, who sadly has never beaten Judai. Revolver has a good chance of being on this boat too considering than chances of Yusaku losing the duel with everything at stake is slim to none. But what makes Manjoume such a good rival in my book?
Let’s take a look at point two first: effect on protagonist or vise versa. Honestly, to me, Manjoume doesn’t make a difference on Judai, the only ones to do so are Ryou and Edo, but ho boy does Judai make an impact on him.
After losing his credibility from being defeated by a Osiris Red, Manjoume loses practically everything, favor from his teachers, his ‘friends’ and I’m pretty its at this point he loses respect from his brothers. So what does he do? He builds himself back up.
That episode where Manjoume is outside South Academy, looking for cards and climbing to the top has to be my favorite in season 1. Hell Judai was my favorite protag before Yuya came along and damn did I want him to lose so Manjoume’s efforts could pay off - point one checks out.
A well written ‘loser’ who may have never beaten his rival but damn do I want him to. 2/3 points to him, I understand why people would claim Ryou or Edo are Judai’s true rivals.
Finally we have Kaiba and Shark the two who lost their first duel against their rival, but won the rematch.
Now, only Shark actually won out of skill (granted season ones rules are bullshit), but I’m 80% sure Yuma was over confident in that match, I don’t remember. But lets look at the lead up to those duels since that’s where we are in Vr.
I’m gonna be honest and say I hated Kaiba for the longest time. He’s an asshole and at like six years old destroying someones property is the worst thing someone can do. But once Mokuba was introduced? I felt bad for the guy. HELL, he had to see Mokuba’s unmoving body - HIS ONLY FAMILY THAT LIKES AND HE GIVES A FLYING FUCK ABOUT.
Sadly I have to leave out the AMAZING second duel of their and what Kaiba does to be fair but I will say that point two checks out with Yugi after that duel.
But what about point three? Kaiba lost to Yugi before. HOWEVER, that won was practically bs as Yugi had managed to summon the one monster that legally causes automatic win, which was now lost. That win had nothing to do with either of their skills, just luck and what cards they happen to have. Without Exodia, Kaiba has a solid chance to defeat Yugi and with the title of World Champion (at least in the dub) Kaiba is very much a real threat. 2/3 points.
Now Shark. Shark is interesting in the fact he doesn’t have a point one at this moment in zxl, thats his entire arc. He doesn’t know what to do with himself so he turns to the thug life. This downward spiral started because he lost to Yuma. And Yuma was able to his journey to becoming a better duelist because of his first duel with Shark. Both influence each other greatly - just in opposite ways. Point two stays.
Now point three is very meh because with Astral’s help, Yuma can win probably easily but at this time in zxl Yuma and Astral relationship is...rocky with Yuma blatantly refusing Astral’s help. But seeing how Shark is even worse off than Yuma his threat as a rival doesn’t stick that well.
1/3 points however that’s intended in the story and Shark turns this around after their second duel.
Now how does Revolver stack up against the previous rivals?
I already stated he doesn’t have a threat as a rival and I mean it. ‘He has a powerful new card!’ Yea okay but....look what happens if Yusaku loses:
-Ema stays dead forever
-A bunch of other people will die
-Yusaku would have failed to protect the LINK VRAINS thus breaking his promise to that little boy and god forbid if a protag can’t keep a promise
-No more speed duels which is the series gimmick
-The actual end of the digital age thus no more duel besides table duels and no will watch episode of that
so I hardly doubt Yusaku will lose with all that’s at stake. At most Yusaku wins and Revolver somehow manages to take Ignis from his somehow.
So...no threat. In verse yes, but people watching? lmao hell no.
Point two, effects on the protagonist or vise versa.
....
I got nothing.
Besides getting information from one another (Yusaku learning more about the Lost Incident and Revolver discovering his one of the six kids) from their first duel to know they haven’t effected each other.
Yusaku didn’t stop the KoH, in fact more hooligans apparently joined based on the Another Incidents. No one in the KoH questioned Revolver’s authority despite losing to the guy who causing them the most problems.
The only thing that might pass is that Yusaku and Ignis’ relationship deepened but consider there’s a good chance Ignis is going to betray him I guess not. Oh and Firewall Dragon showed up, yea (not counting that as influencing since Yusaku could have potentially grab Firewall from any data storm).
So no point two.
Finally point one, what is Revolver’s reason for wanting to beat Yusaku?
Well that’s easy, he wants Ignis!
Why?
Because he’ll destroy the world as we know it!
How?
Uhhhh...
It is really worth putting society back to an era without technology?
Maybe...?
Yes, most likely we’ll learn the answers during the duel but that why I brought ulp the previous rivals. At this point, before any of the other rivals second duel against the protag we have learned:
Kaiba is dueling to save his little brother who’s soul was taken and has seen his lifeless body
Manjoume is dueling to get his respect back after we have seen him fall to the pits and valiantly brought himself back up
Jack is dueling to prove he is King, it’s his destiny, and that he’s more than satellite trash and he won’t go back there.
Shark doesn’t have purpose and Yuma has to throw himself out there to save Shark from ruining his own life.
Kaito is dueling to save his little brother who screams in terror and helps destroy an entire world.
Reiji is dueling to stop his father’s plan and to help bring peace back to the dimensions.
So while Revolver’s motives are noble, there’s not a lot of backbone to them. Does he feel guilty that his father’s project caused this? I know those professor people Faust and Ava did but does he?
I feel like I don’t know Revolver at all. I know about him, but I don’t know any of his emotions and that just makes him feel like a level boss for Yusaku to defeat, not his rival for the show.
So dude, for me of course, gets a soft 1/3.
So year here you go. I hope after this hyped up duel I’ll learn to like Revolver more cause haha he’s kinda disappointing to me atm.

*sigh* So it’s like this.
A while back, Muse and I got permission from Mama to ship Zane, the character of hers that Muse and I are disproportionately and probably unhealthily deeply attached to for reasons neither of us can puzzle out, with Locah in an alternate version of one of Locah’s AUs. We’ll just call the ship ZxL. Keep shit simple. She gave it to us with the added disclaimer that her own participation in it would be minimal because the concept didn’t grab her interest. That part wasn’t a problem--Muse and I are the exact same way, we can’t do dick all with anything unless we find it interesting, and we can’t fully choose what all we do find interesting, even if we want to.
Muse loved ZxL, and so did I. We immediately began trying to do things with it, to build the ship and to try and get Mama interested. It didn’t work. In fact, all it did was annoy her and stress her out. This didn’t come to light until I pried it out of her, because I had told her several times to tell me if she was uncomfortable and I would back off, but she didn’t until she told me about another aspect of ZxL that had been bothering her, and because she has a tendency to bottle things up I suspected there was more that she wasn’t telling us. Once she let it all out we were able to resolve the problem and ultimately Muse and I bottled the ship. It was simply too early in the story and Zane was wrapped up in too much spoilers for us to work with it. We still look at it from time to time but I’ve forbidden Muse from unbottling it until and unless Mama gives us the green light. Hell I haven’t even let her add it to our shipping masterlist, even under a redacted label so that nobody would know it was specifically Zane and Locah.
In the main storyline, Zane is shipped with another OC of Mama’s, whom we’ll call...fuck, let’s call her Aphrodite. We’ll call that ship ZxA. I personally think it’s adorable, even though I know very little about it because Mother has kept it mostly hidden so she can reveal it properly in-story. Aph is a very interesting character, she’s sweet and strong and works well with the surrounding characters, she and Zane look great together, and Zane turns into an absolute dorky mess around her, which is fucking adorable.
Muse, however, is for some reason Really Fucking Salty about ZxA and about Aphrodite in general. She won’t tell me why, and I think that even she herself doesn’t know. After all, she has no logical reason to be. If you’re thinking it’s because we wish we could ship Locah with Zane in the MS instead, you would actually be mistaken. Locah already has an MS ship, which Muse and I adore to pieces and which is the best choice to advance Locah’s storyline and even a few other characters’ (including Quill, one of Mama’s major characters). ZxL, on the other hand, would not work well in the MS, and Hell, something about it just feels wrong to me. Don’t misunderstand, I really do like it, but...something feels off. And neither Muse nor I can identify what. So, if that’s not the reason, what is?
Again, I don’t know and I think Muse doesn’t either. But I have a theory. It’s a problem that we haven’t been able to articulate, not even to ourselves, but a problem that’s existed for quite a while and that we’ve only just fully identified.
There is an imbalance in Zane and Locah’s relationship. Zane is incomprehensibly important to Locah. While they don’t love him romantically, they love him more than they can ever express or even understand. What they feel for him is something they have never felt for anyone else. He is utterly precious and irreplaceable to them in multiple ways. Throughout all the conversations I’ve had with Mama about Zane and Locah’s character interactions, I have come up with many things that either display or galvanise this, but I’ve gotten little reciprocation. Hell, I’ve gotten little reciprocation on even just run-of-the-mill friendship aspects.
I know that kind of love is a very big thing to ask for and I do not want Mama to force it. It needs to come from Zane naturally, or else that will be unfair to both me and Mama, both of our Muses, and both of our characters. But out of everything I’ve read (and I spent several hours picking through our Skype conversation reading every conversation we had about Zane, to make sure my memory wasn’t warped), there is nothing that Mama has shown us that expresses how or why Locah would be truly special to Zane. They are indeed close friends, yes, practically family, and he truly does love them. Mama decided on that of her own accord. But this has been mostly told rather than shown, and due to that I cannot help but question the degree to which Zane cares about Locah.
The way I see it there is nothing unique about their relationship from his perspective. There is nothing they can offer him that he can’t get from someone else, and they’re already giving him everything they have to offer. And this is something that I’ve worried about for a while and that Muse has fretted and cried over. I feel as though Locah’s appreciation for Zane is, at best, taken for granted, or at worst, unwanted, probably because it’s too intense and smothering. And if events follow current trends, Locah themselves will begin to fret and cry over it too, in-story.
I am prepared for there to be an imbalance in their relationship--again I say, love of that kind and magnitude is a very big thing to ask for. I just need to know if the imbalance really is supposed to be as significant as it currently seems, so that either it can be fixed...or I can make peace with it. Either way, I won’t have to worry anymore.
But to return to my original point; I don’t know for sure if this is the reason Muse is bitter towards Aphrodite. It’s simply our best guess at the moment. I’m trying to remind Muse to reserve judgement given that as of presently our current view of ZxA and Aph’s role in the story is very narrow, and she’s trying to keep that in mind, but unfortunately it isn’t working. As of presently, Muse can’t help but feel as though Aphrodite is eclipsing/replacing Locah, because story-wise Locah was there first and bonded most strongly with three characters: Zane, Match, and Kitten. And due to their bond with Zane, they grew to hate the story’s villain, Quill, very strongly. And then much later on in the story Aph floats into their lives and Zane is instantly smitten with her for seemingly little to no reason. No reason we can see anyways, but again, our scope is very narrow because Mama’s kept so much quiet. And for someone as antisocial and science- and logic-oriented as Zane, he really doesn’t seem like a ‘love at first sight’ type of guy. Of course, Mama knows her own character better than we do, and we remember that, but it still doesn’t make sense to us due to our limited information. In addition to this, Aph also bonds with Match and Kitten, and grows to hate Quill very much very rapidly.
Now, there are two things that make this jealousy of Aph completely ridiculous. 1) In the meta sense, Aphrodite came before Locah. Mama had already made her and established all this before we even met. So if anything, that makes Locah the intruder. 2) Aph is guilty of doing nothing more than...pretty much exactly what Locah themselves has done. They both grow to care about Zane, Match, and Kitten very much very fast, and they both grow to hate Quill very much very fast. The only difference is that Zane’s feelings for Aph are much stronger, more visible, and develop much quicker, and Aph is more important to Zane. And because Aph has a special bond with Zane when Locah and Muse both yearn so badly for Locah to have that sort of bond with Zane themselves (although not romantic), all of that is causing Muse to project her own insecurities about Locah, their relationship with Zane, and their place in the story onto Aph.
See, because Locah and Aphrodite’s roles are so similar, to Muse that makes Aph the greatest threat, if that makes sense. If Aph already bonds with Zane and Succeeds Where Many Have Failed by convincing him he’s not worthless and giving him the confidence to ultimately escape from Quill, if she already bonds with Match and Kitten and becomes The Positive Mother Figure/Role Model both of them need, if she already swears herself against Quill and vows to rescue Zane from him No Matter What--then what the Hell is Locah’s purpose??? What do you need them for??? Why are they in the story?
It all comes back to our longstanding insecurity that Locah is irrelevant and non-integral to the plot. Unnecessary. Disposable. That we’re unnecessary and disposable to the ArrowFam. I have always struggled with feeling like the expendable one, the outsider, the interloper, in any friend group I’ve ever been in. And our other character Witch is supposed to be our mouthpiece for that God damn it, not Locah. Plus, as a Muse, one of the greatest insults you can throw at her is ‘this character is irrelevant to the plot’. I think that Locah is integral to the plot and it’s just anxiety riling us up on that front, but unfortunately we’re failing to remember how.
So my current working theory is that if Locah did become more important to Zane, then Muse’s saltiness towards Aph would finally go away and I/we could appreciate her and ZxA the way I wish we could. Not more important than Aph or anyone else, just more important in general--for them to have that one special something that they can offer him. Because right now there are a number of special somethings Locah gets from Zane, but nothing the other way round. And since he means so much to us, we just want them to be able to do that for him (and they want that too). But this is the kind of thing we need to just let play out naturally and see how it works out--neither Mama, Muse, nor I can force it or plan it, and it’s no guarantee. And if that isn’t the problem anyways, well, then we’re back to square one. And as I’ve told Mama before, I love Aph, so I hate feeling like this, even if most (if not all) of it is coming from Muse.
And standard disclaimer: This is merely what I see. I’m not accusing Mama of not caring enough about me, or Muse, or Locah or their connection to Zane or their role in her story. I know for certain that she loves and appreciates me very much and that she adores Locah, and both of those things mean more to me than I can ever express. And for all I know Mama could have stuff she’s planning on putting in the story that shows how important Locah is to Zane, that she simply hasn’t told us about. But I’m afraid that the evidence Muse and I currently have is not enough to keep us from worrying.

So I’m just going to explode my feelings about Ri//o cause I some of my friends are rewatching Zxl and I’ve watched to see what they’re talking about. I will say this, Ri/o SUCKS. She is the textbook disposable woman. Ri//o is killed or incapacitated in Zxl FOUR FUCKING TIMES. And each time, it’s her being hurt that makes Sha///rk do ANYTHING. Let me list.
1. Ri/o’s original life ends when Ve///ctor invades their country and she sacrifices herself to drive him away. Her death leads Shar///k to and I quote “FOLLOW HIM TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH”. Which leads to Sha//rk’s army dying cause Sha///rk is a dumbass and then Vec//tor and Sha//rk becoming Bar//ians.
2. In their Ba//rian life Vec//tor AGAIN kills Ri//o which causes Shark to dive for her. Which cause them to take over the bodies of twins that HAPPEN TO LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THEM. Which leads to Sh///ark meeting Yu//ma which is the start of HIS DUMBASS ANGST TRAIN IN THE FINAL ARC.
3. R///io is burned by Tr///on and I///V which causes Sh///ark to become a punk which leads him to the start of Zxl. AND THEN this causes Sh//ark to get all revenge crazy on I///V in the Worl//d Carnival and all his actions is for revenge.
4. And once again Ri///o is killed by Vec//tor for the THIRD TIME. Vec//tor ESPECIALLY targets R///io to hurt Sh///ark. And her death leads Sh//ark to FINALLY kill Ve//ctor which results in Don K coming back and all the BS that follows.
NOTICE HOW EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO SHA//RK IS CAUSE OF RI///O DYING. IT CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH THAT THIS IS HORRIBLE WRITING. Ri///o’s character is just to die to motivate Sha//rk. In no world is that not sexist and horrible writing. NO ONE should ever claim this is good writing. EVER. I DON’T CARE IF IT’S YGO, WHO WRITE A CHARACTER TO DIE MULTIPLE TIMES JUST TO MOTIVATE ANOTHER CHARACTER.

blueeyeswhitegarden said: A//oi losing always meant that Yu//saku would save her, but since I can count their interactions on one hand, it isn't nearly as blatant as it was for Sh//ark and R//io. It's been awhile since I've heard people talk about R//io, but I don't recall that much praise for her. I remember people being excited to have a proper female duelist in the main cast and she defeated that one shot villain, but I don't recall much love for R//io outside of shipping stuff.
Yeah A//oi was such a nonimportance for Yu///saku and I know some fans were all GREAT for that just so there was no chance of “forced het pairing”, shouldn’t people be sad that we lost a potential friendship with the main character. And that’s the issue when A//oi lost, she was NEVER any real motivation for anyone but A///kira. The first time she died, Aki///ra went to Link V///rains ... and was used as a hostage for Yu///saku. The second time it was her death that “motivated” Ak//ira to send the antivirus to stop Bo//wman skill thing, even if it was totally useless. In fact when A///kira was taken out in season 3, A///oi was on the complete sidelines. The way she’s written is she’s Aki//ra’s motivation but more important than him .... it’s very odd.
For Ri//o, she has some popularity but honestly I only really see her being talked about when they want to bash A5. But honestly that’s laughable

blueeyeswhitegarden said: This is one of the many reasons I see A//oi as R//io 2.0. They both exist for angst and motivation fuel for male characters. R//io was really just Sha//rk's sister. She had no personality or role much beyond that. Even being a Bar//ian didn't make her more important. She had one mostly off-screen victory against Tet//suo and then died again for Sha//rk. She was just such a boring and poorly written character. There was also that girl Ir//is who seemingly was introduced just to die. Sha//rk already lost his sister and his army in his past life, but apparently wasn't enough angst for that backstory. I actually do like Sha//rk's subplot, despite the amount of angst involved, but killing off a mini R//io for more Sha//rk angst is just so incredibly sexist. It's one of those moments where I'm amazed that people got on my case for calling Yo//shida sexist in the past.
A///oi is a weird one when she’s honestly motivation for A//kira who isn’t that important thus Ao///i feels even MORE USELESS than R///io.
R//io is ... amazingly bad. It;s more amazing that people try to defend her writing. Like her if you want but she’s just there to die. The fact she was having trouble with TET///SUO is pathetic

blueeyeswhitegarden replied to your post: blueeyeswhitegarden said: I find it deeply...
Complaining about the amount of attention the male/female pairings got in Ar//c V is especially strange to me. There were still plenty of popular male pairings in the series, especially among the Dragon Boys. There are plenty of fans who gravitated towards those pairings. Just because the show didn’t have a ton of yaoi bait, at least compared to some of the other series, doesn’t really mean much in the grand scheme of things.
They are bitter that for once their ships were usually the biggest ships in the fandom aren’t anymore. Being the biggest ship is a way of showing that your tastes are correct and thus you are right. They were bitter that the show wasn’t playing to their tastes when past shows either did(G//x, ZXL) or was more neutral of those pairings but never focused on m/f pairs either(D//M). Arc-V was the show where the male and female pairs were in HUGE focus and a big part of Yuya, Yuto and Yugo’s goals and personalities were from their relationships with Yuzu, Ruri and Rin respectively. In fact Fruitshipping and Appleshipping are so seen as canon in the fans’s eyes that a lot of fics has to have the boys either forgetting the girls or “moving” on because the relationship is so important, they can just ignore it.
For the people that bitch about A5 lacking in bait, I feel they JUST CARE FOR THE BAIT. A lot of these people don’t seem to understand BASIC FACTS of the show’s characters, setting or even plot. It feels like if it doesn’t involve the boys interaction, they zoned out and thus when the show started to do the reveals, they were shocked because they missed out of the information that was already revealed. So for them, yes that is important as that’s why they watched YGO and are bitter that A5 DARED to have actually developed relationships, plot and settings. Cause let me tell you G//X and ZXL are SORELY LACKING IN THOSE

this isn't a "thoughts on" ask, but like.... let's say this... you're in hell, and the devil (zarc) tells you you HAVE to get through one of these 3: zxl, vr, or the a5 manga. pick your poison. which do you choose?
I would pray to Ray that she get her boyfriend in control.
But honestly ZXL. Look VR is so shitty that ZXL looks good and the A5 manga annoys me because it reminds of actual good media I could be consuming and the ending … is no

And sadly people want to see a Ve//ctor character in every series now. I remember people were quick to call Sora the next Ve//ctor after his duel with Shun, but once he had actual character development instead of being all hammy over the top expressions, he became much less popular among the fanbase. This is also probably one reason why Yuri became so popular..
really Sora got less popular after getting probably the best redemption arc in YGO. EVER. Idiots.
And I won’t doubt that is part of Yuri’s popularity that he is kinda similar to Ve//ctor. But at the same time Yuri is well better. Yuri actually rarely does the crazy faces and is more subtle with his faces. They’re more just silly or reaction faces. And he’s actually a really snarky character so his lines and tone are just perfect. Also helps that Yuri is actually competent as a villain compared to Ve//ctor so his pride makes sense compared to Ve///ctor.

Is the salt store still open? I need one large salt on zxl for it's bad direction during episode 95-98 imo those are one of the worst episodes i've watched in ygo history. It's were the Vector meme troll begins and starts to annoy me
Salt is open and honestly I can understand why you got sick of it as … yeah it’s pretty obvious that it was a trap. I mean Ve//ctor gave them the exact coordinates need to save “Shing///estu”.
And to be it was pretty much the only time Vec///tor was cool cause they actually gave it some time to build. BUT that died when they still had Yu///ma win so despite all the effort that Vec//tor did, admittedly it was more cause Yu//ma was dumb, Yu//ma still won due to literal cheating.
And then Vec///tor is just pathetic, he never wins except if it against Dur//be and R//io and that was more due to him having cards that make it borderline impossible to lose than any intelligence from him.
Overall I don’t get the Vec///tor love when his comedy is him doing the exact same creepy face with no variety over and over. As well as his complete and utter incompetence. How the show handled his “redemption” was beyond stupid.

those last few eps were torture for a reason LOL
yeah I watched them ... they were dumb. I still feel the whole Sh//ark vs Vec///tor duel was .... pulled out of their ass. Sha//rk and Vec//tor didn’t interact at all before Sh//ark got his memories back. Vec//tor was more focused on making Yu///ma suffer. But when Shar////k got his memories, he’s obsessed with killing Sh///ark again. Essentually they’re hated ri///vals because of their past .... which was never hinted at before this. So Sh////ark being the one to end Vec///tor feels pointless
