moanaialiki:
Once Moana no longer felt SUBMERGED by the forceful waters, she coughed out the rest of the water in her lungs, simply curling into the PROTECTIVE arms that held her. The kind of touch that REALLY made her think of her FATHER, and it simply REMINDED her just how much trouble she was going to be in when he found out about all of this. He was probably going to be even more STRICT on the thought of her getting ANYWHERE near the water. And the young child couldn’t even IMAGINE the thought of her father being even more strict than he already was about that rule.
But when she finally managed to regain her BEARINGS, after the somewhat traumatizing event, she realized that the man that had saved her was not her father at all. And he certainly was not one of the many villagers on Motunui. She knew just about everyone that lived on the island.
And yet, there was something very familiar about him as well. She wasn’t sure that she could explain such a feeling, possibly THINKING it was just her IMAGINATION running a bit wild after having almost died in the ocean that day.
Still, she would not O V E R T H I N K it much, eyes still out towards the sea before looking up at the STRANGER that saved her. “Thank you…” Her voice was a lot softer than she had intended, nor was she expecting to suddenly feel as drained as she did. But swimming could be an EXHAUSTING exercise, no matter how much she loved being in the water. Moana only hoped that the man was able to hear her words regardless.
She was breathing. Good. He hadn’t arrived too late. Though he should have been less protective over the child, or any human for that matter, he couldn’t help but tighten his hold on her, especially when she was nearly on the verge of drowning only moments ago. Tangaroa might not have been a particularly attentive god, but he could only imagine how terrified she must have been after being held under the water. He wouldn’t allow that to happen again. He hid a soft smile when he heard her quiet thanks, crossing his legs before settling down onto the sand, facing the sea. The skies were beginning to turn blue once again, the choppy waves settling into calm currents as before.
“No need to thank me, little one.” Careful not to jostle her, he let her rest in his lap, glancing around to ensure they were alone. There were rules to this, ancient laws that dictated conduct between the gods and the humans. It was meant to keep the latter safe and the former from stepping out of line. Showing himself to her was risky as it was, though he was sure bending the rules was allowed for saving her life.
He doubted the others would take to his disregard to the ancient ways with the same logic as he did.
Tangaroa sighed, combing a gentle hand through her sopping wet hair. “Moana, what were you doing out here by yourself?” It wasn’t his place to chastise her. If anything, he should have tried to let her save herself from the waves. That was what the others would have done. But he’d remembered the baby who stumbled on the beach, before she could even speak properly, and he wouldn’t let any harm come to her.

SELF KNOWLEDGE QUESTIONNAIRE
Below the surface, everyone is pretty complicated. Based on your answers, we think the following three traits are important strands in your personality:
Tumblr media
TENDERNESS
You are not afraid of the sufferings and sorrows of other people, even when they are acted out in unappealing ways. Beneath even defensiveness and self-righteous behaviour, you know that deep down people need nurturing and consolation. One danger is being naive about people’s dark sides. But at your best you know you can be mean yourself, which helps you to sympathise. You bring strength and forgiveness where other people might panic.
NEEDINESS
Being affirmed and nurtured by others is a central requirement for you to feel safe. This means you can be slow to warm up to other people, which is difficult because what you most need from them is their warmth. Yet you know how to be vulnerable: to let down your defences and accept that you need another person. This lack of pretence is a valuable trait, and ultimately more endearing than the macho efforts others make to deny their childlike sides.
INDEPENDENCE
You don’t set out to be different for its own sake; you are more easily guided by what interests and moves you. You are more concerned about what is right for you than about the pressure to fit in. In sex you are more aware than others of impulses which are not entirely conventional. You know the value of selective irresponsibility, of forgetting occasionally about being ‘good’.
the test is here. tagged by: @moanaialiki & @motherisland tagging: anyone who wants to do it!

@moanaialiki || continued.
Never a day passed that he failed to keep a watchful eye out for Tāwhirimātea, fearing that his brother would try to drive him from the sea as he had so often before. On this particular day, he strayed from Motunui to draw his ire away from the island, knowing that the fierce winds and savage waves would bring ruin to an island that deserved nothing of the sort. On the open ocean, he could withstand the force of the storms, diving deep to shield himself from the crashing of the waves.
He waited and waited, resting on the ocean floor until he sensed a disturbance within the water. Not unusual because of the storm, but this was frantic, panicky. And immediately he recognized it. He remembered the coos she gave when she first approached his domain. He remembered the inquisitive stare she gave with those round eyes that only humans seemed to have. He remembered her tiny hands reaching for the water, taking the one hope to restore peace to the world.
The child was in trouble.
Despite the danger he put himself in, Tangaroa shot from the deep, propelled by choppy waves back to Motonui at lightning speed. He spied her struggling body beneath the surface, diving and wrapping his thick arms around her tiny frame. With a swift kick, they broke the surface, and he trudged quickly through the shallows, keeping her cradled to his chest, one hand resting protectively on her back to check if she was still breathing.
If she was hurt in any way, he would never forgive himself for leaving.

Disney Princess Inspired Meetings
Send one for a scenario in which our Muses meet. It doesn’t have to be the first time they’e ever met, but it can! This isn’t meant solely for romantic ships, either!
🍎 - One muse stumbles upon the other while they’re in their yard doing chores. 👠 - One muse isn’t enjoying a party until the other shows up, so they approach them. 🌹 - One muse finds the other walking in the forest talking to themselves, and decides to join the conversation. 🐚 - One muse saves the other from drowning (or another dangerous scenario) and pulls them to safety. 📘 - One muse takes the other prisoner, but is reluctant to do so and attempts to show them kindness while stuck there. 🌠 - One muse gets in trouble due to a misunderstanding, and the other saves them and helps them hide from their newfound enemies. 🍃 - One muse follows the other because they seem suspicious, and upon finding them about to (accidentally?) do something bad/unwise, stop them. ⚔️ - One muse is the teacher/instructor of a class that the other attends and almost immediately is drawn to. 🐸 - One muse is under a spell and asks the other for help, but the attempt to help only lands both of them cursed! 🌼 - One muse requests enlists the aid of the other to escort them somewhere in exchange for something they want. 💘 - One muse competes in a competition to win the hand of the other, but the other enters the contest secretly and wins it themselves! 🍫 - One muse just bumps into the attractive other and suddenly can’t speak because of just how attractive the other really is – it’s awkward. ❄️ - One muse keeps to themselves in a secluded place and the other stumbles upon their sanctuary. 🌊 - One muse travels to seek out the aid of another and forces them along when they’re reluctant.

character development meme || accepting!
How much physical space do they use, active and at rest?
Tangaroa tends to be fluid in his movements despite his size, so he also tends to take up more space than necessary. For example, he stands with his feet at least shoulder length apart, with his hands usually at his sides unless he’s angry or displeased. At that time, he places his hands on his hips. He doesn’t enjoy crowds for the reason that he can’t spread himself as wide as he might like to. While walking, his arms swing back and forth and his strides are long and even. When he sleeps, he sprawls out and makes himself as comfortable as possible, no matter who may be in the area.
What kind of person could they become in the future? What are some developmental paths that they could take, (best, worst, most likely?) what would cause them to come to pass, and what consequences might they have? What paths would you especially like to see, and why?
He’s been about the same person as he was when he was first born, but I would definitely like to see him become less civilized, more of a feral god who’s allowed his element to have more control over him. On the opposite end, it would be interesting to see him take a more human approach, possibly by losing his immortality and having to cope with the fact that he won’t live forever.
What kind of activities, interests, and hobbies do they have? What significance and impact do these have in their lives, both positive and negative?
Though he’s tried not to meddle in the affairs of men as much as possible, he enjoys people watching. When he’s in his physical form and less likely to catch the wrath of his brother, he does build canoes and sails the ocean as a way of keeping watch over his realm. But he has a deep love for mankind that he won’t ever admit to, which is why he goes out during vicious storms to try and save anyone lost at the sea’s mercy. It isn’t wise of him to do it, since doing so puts him at risk of being discovered by any of his brothers, or puts him in harm’s way. But he ignores any danger it poses to himself, as it gives him a chance to connect with people that he’s been denied a chance to know for centuries.

HEADCANON: Humans
Though he wasn’t responsible for their creation, Tangaroa has always held a secret fondness for mankind. After his brothers were scattered to the far corners of the world and his children fled, he took comfort in the young race beginning to discover their world, traveling the seas and finding their homes. Occasionally he would intervene to aid them, or to end those he found issue with. But for the most part, he kept out of the way, focusing solely on the ocean and watching mankind populate the world.
Until one of the mortals was blessed with a child. And ignorant of the blessing, they tossed the child into the sea. Having lost his own children, Tangaroa could not stand by and let a child die in his domain. He plucked the child from the water, giving him into the care of the other gods to raise him to be more than human. When the child came of age, Tangaroa taught him wayfinding, knowing the young one would need to know all he could to survive in this harsh world. And for a time, he delighted in the stories he heard travelers tell of Maui, demigod of the wind and sky, hero of men.
But his pride faded when the sky darkened, fire searing the surface of the ocean, the news of the heart of Te Fiti being stolen by a demigod spreading as quickly as the darkness her disappearance brought. He recovered the heart, but finding one worthy enough to restore it was impossible, especially with Maui having vanished as well. Monster roamed the seas, and though he did what he could to protect the humans, he could not save them all. They began to stop traveling beyond their islands, leaving the seas uncharted.
Centuries passed and even Tangaroa began to despair, fearing that no one would be found to restore the heart. Then one day, a child wandered to the shore. And after witnessing the kindness someone so young could show to the smallest of creatures, he knew that his chosen one had arrived.
