Yo!

Last night I went to the movies to watch Joker!!! And I really liked it. I get why it has stirred up some drama and criticism, and in my opinion there are certainly some parts of this movie that could or should have been left out or at least changed. But nonetheless: a lot with this film is pure cinematic gold. The music was on point, the cinematography was gorgeous and above all - Joaquin Phoenix is absolutely incredible. I loved him before but I never expected to be this stunned by a performance of his. Every second of screen time with him is pleasure. 

My personal rating for this movie will be... 8,2 out of 10.

Balloon

Yesterday I watched Balloon (2019) at the movie theater. It's a german movie about two families planning to escape the DDR to seek refuge in the west. Their plan was to build a hot air balloon which would take them over the border. It's based on a true story and was very thrilling to watch.

The acting was okay but nothing extraordinary. Same thing with the music. I found the writing a bit simple at times. However, I did enjoy the cinematography.

My personal rating for this movie will be 6,8 out of 10.

I would really like to hear your opinion on Sorry to Bother You (2018) dir. Boots Riley! I can’t decide if i love it or hate it but one thing’s for sure: it fucked me up... I DO love Tessa Thompson though, I remember when I watched Dear White People when it first came and I knew, I just KNEW, she was going places. And look at her now!!!?

I really liked this movie. It kind of made me reconsider Spike Jonze after being traumatized by Being John Malkovich (1999). I look forward to watching Aziz Ansari's comedy special on Netflix which was directed by Jonze.

Upcoming

Hi there. I haven't been too active here lately because of reasons. Anyways, I thought I would post a list of ideas for upcoming posts here, mostly for myself but also to show you what to expect. Here we go:

I'm thinking of writing something about #metoo in movie business, my idea is basically to write a list of directors, actors and other in the industry, who stand accused right now. I think it's important to be constantly reminded of how big this problem actually is. We may never forget what they have done.

I'm also going to write some reviews. Recently I have watched The Snowman, IT, Get Out, and more. Maybe I should have a thriller/horror theme? Seems like that's all I watch nowadays.

I was also thinking of writing about how I rate movies! Maybe it could be fun to know what I take into consideration when forming my opinion on a film.

I think we can all agree that this was one of the most precious casts in the history of movie making. That’s all I want to say. Also, Orlando kinda looks like Winona Ryder on the first photo.
