The University of Western Sydney launched an amazing campaign video highlighting the courage and sacrifice of some immigrants who flee their countries looking to make better lives for themselves and others. In the age of anti-refugee xenophobia, this video could be called forward thinking. We just call it...reality.

We set off the New Year with a new video, a new format, and a new website.  Eden Hagos' Black Foodie events highlight Food and Lifestyle through a Black Lens. We got the chance to sit down at a buffet style pop up dinner held at local Ethiopian restaurant Ethiopiques, and find out from Eden herself what the Black Foodie movement is all about.

Anybody remember John Forte, a Rap artist down with the Fugees back in the 90′s? Ever wonder what happened to him? Well after a pardoned prison sentence (by President Obama no less) Mr. Forte has been repping for prison reform through public speaking engagements and his music. Check him out on this Creative Mornings Podcast discussing something we could all use more of in 2016.

May we suggest, before indulging in the inevitable bacchanalian debauchery that seems to go so naturally hand in hand with New Years Eve festivities, that you eat something substantial to help soak up the happy juice? Don’t be a part of the hordes lined up like cattle for a hit of some barely heated dodgy street meat, or hunched over in an alley because your food to alcohol ratio lies somewhere between a cracker in an olympic sized swimming pool, and an air bubble in the Atlantic. You WILL be sorry.

New Years Eve : You know those “sad/angry” (insert either here) people you see wandering the city streets 30 seconds to midnight like lost but excited puppies locked in kennel cages with boundless energy and nothing to do with it? Don’t be one of those people. Have a plan. Here’s a few party ideas for NYE (and we mean “a few”...too many options on NYE lead to paralysis) to ring in the New Year!

Do you think the statement “The Black community doesn’t support Black Business is a real thing? If not, why not? Maggie Anderson decided to try doing business with exclusively Black owned businesses for a year.
What she learned may surprise you.

We believe gifting experiences is most times even better than things. Carl Cassell's Harlem Restaurant gift certificates offer a fun, tasty #urban dining experience to be remembered. Money well spent.
