Washington, D.C., police say six teenagers from Burundi who competed in an international robotics competition were reported missing on Wednesday.

Two of the teens — 16-year-old Don Ingabire and 17-year-old Audrey Mwamikazi — were last seen leaving the U.S. and heading into Canada, the Metropolitan Police Department tells The Two-Way blog, adding that there is “no indication of foul play.”

The six-person team participated in the first international high school robotics competition, called the First Global Challenge, earlier this week.

They were reportedly last seen on Tuesday, the final day of the competition.

LOOKING FORWARD- THE ROOTS OF BIG STAR (FEATURING CHRIS BELL  (OMNIVORE RECORDINGS)

I had no idea that Chris Bell had had so much activity before the beginning of Big Star but then again, I’m no expert on Bell or the band so this 22-song cd was a real refreshing look at Bell’s bands and projects before Big Star recorded their now-legendary #1 Record. He was in some bands called Rock City, Icewater, the Wallabys, Christmas Future and more (I think out of all those bands names I like Icewater but maybe that’s because it’s in the 90’s today). The thing is, I’m confused as to why this stuff was under wraps for so long. I’m not sure if any of this has ever been released before but man, if not it should have been. He’s joined by Big Star chum/alum Jody Stephens as well as folks named on the cd cover: Tom Eubanks, Terry Manning, Steve Rhea and Alan Palmore. When you listen to the cuts you can absolutely hear Big Star in these songs (no surprise there), the romp of “I Think It’s Time to Say Goodbye,���  the more psych “All I See is You,” the straight pop of “My Life is Right” (the first and third are by Rock City while the middle tune, was Icewater). Later on there’s the totally oddball folk pop of “The Wind Will Cry for Me” (Rock City) and “The Reason” by The Wallabys (written by Alan Paramore, Bell plays guitar). There’s a few clunkers amongst the tracks namely the sluggish “Looking Forward” and the dull folk of “The Answer” but honestly, the ratio is more tipped toward the good. Toward the end there’s some backing tracks of a few cuts which are for the hardcore fan, but overall Looking Forward is solid, in fact I’d go a step better than solid and say it’s good, damn good in parts. And it’s just not only for Big Star aficionados, fans of that era of rock music will find plenty to dig here, too. Look forward, not back.  www.omnivorerecordings.com
