Hi. First I want to say I love your stories and am a fan of your writing. In fact, you've inspired me to want to write some fics of my own.

However, I'm nervous because I've never written a fic before. Also, what I want to write about may not go over well with some people, and I'm afraid I'll get attacked over it.

What do you think I should do? Should I write them anyway? Also, do you have any writing tips for me?

First of all, thank you for the kind words about my stories and writing! Any compliments really make my day! I’m also flattered that I’m considered an inspiration for you to start writing yourself. That is one of the highest praises a writer can ask for!

Believe me, I completely understand how nerve-wracking it is writing something for the first time. I’m only speaking for myself here, but I’d like to think other writers can relate to this as well. I thought I was going to lose my lunch the first time I posted a fanfic online! I was so anxious that I didn’t check on it for over a day and even after that, it took me some time to muster the courage to read the comments that were left on it. So yeah, I can totally relate to the feeling.

To answer the question of whether or not to write your stories despite any potentially controversial subject matter: yes, you should. Don’t let anyone dictate what you can or can’t write because frankly, you don’t need anyone’s permission to write what you want. It’s not your responsibility to cater to anyone’s tastes but your own. Any negativity towards you says more about your critics.

As far as tips are concerned, I don’t have any writing tips, per se. However, there are plenty of resources online, including here on Tumblr, that may be of help; I’ve definitely tried to apply some of them in my writing. With that said, I’ll share some general tips (this can also apply to artists, just replace the writing terms with art ones):

As I mentioned before, write what you want to write. Don’t worry about offending people. It’s their responsibility to curate their experiences.

Don’t fret too much about writing perfectly the first time out. It’s better to write out what’s on your mind, then edit it to your liking. I used to be guilty about this, but now I’m at the point where I’ve found myself enjoying the editing process. Most of the time you’ll be editing instead of writing, so get used to it.

Don’t fall into the trap of comparing yourself with someone else. It can be discouraging to read someone else’s work and think yours is inferior. However, think about the two cakes meme in which someone brings a cake but is discouraged to see a cake that looks much better than theirs. Yet, people are happy that there are two cakes available regardless of how they look. There are people out there who will appreciate what you bring to the table. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to discover your own style.

This is a tricky one and one I’ve fallen victim to many times, but don’t get caught up in the likes, kudos, and comments whether it be here or anywhere you decide you post your fanfic. Just because there aren’t a lot of likes doesn’t mean your fic is bad. There may be some people out there who enjoy your fic but are too shy to leave likes or comments. I know firsthand how rough it is to pour your heart and soul into something and see such low numbers, but they do not determine the quality of your work.

Don’t be afraid to take breaks if needed. Sometimes, you need to step away from something for a bit to revitalize your creative juices. It’s easy to burn out on something if you’re doing it for too long; pivot yourself to something else if that’s the case.

Last but not least, have fun! You are doing this because you enjoy something so much that it has inspired you to create something out of it. Enjoy the experience!

AU in which Link was raised by Ganon & meets Zelda for the first time

I had fun designing emo chunibyo Link! Inspired by TOTK Ganondorf's clothes and gerudo voe outfit - Link here mainly fights with gloom sword (katana style) but it weakens him 💔

He can control gloom to a certain degree but he also... isn't immune to it so he's perpetually gloom damaged rip😂

I want him to lose his memories in a fight and get adopted by the champions, fall in love with Zelda, and defect!! Give me all the cliches!!

Ganondorf is not very good in this AU!

He's a demon king in hiding, biding his time for conquest. He snatched up Link as a child & raised him to be a lonely henchman.

Ganon taught him everything Link knows (so he can be useful to Ganon) but Ganon definitely does not have Link's best interest in mind💔

Study because it’s a privilege. Not everyone has the opportunity to learn. Embrace the privilege of education and make the most of it. Honor those who fought for the right to study by making the most of your own education.
