Writing a story, but don’t know how to show characters hating each other?
So say you wanted to write something where there’s a twist end, showing that one character hates another, but DON’T know how to write it? Here are some tips I’ve come up with!
Let’s just say that Character A hates Character B, but B doesn’t know this.
Important note: REMEMBER TO HAVE A GOOD REASON TO WHY CHARACTERS HATE EACH OTHER!! IT CANT BE JUST BECAUSE!!
• Whenever character B is around, character A crosses their arms (a sign of discomfort)
•Character A always asks his friends to sit with him, but B always gets approval by A’s friends, not themselves
•Character A will always go silent whenever character B is around
•Character A is always mentioned looking at/responding to others, but not to character B
•Character B is the last person to hear about any news from character A, and it’s most likely told to them by someone else
•Character A will try to get away whenever character B is nearby (e.g. I have to use the bathroom, I need to go home/somewhere else, I’ll brb I just need to go look in this store, etc.)
•Character B isn’t invited to character A’s birthday parties/parties and/or hangouts in general
•Chracter A suddenly gets really aggressive/defensive whenever character B is around
•Character A will give blunt answers to character B, but will give longer/more in detail answers to everyone else
and… that’s all I could think of right now. I’ll add on if I come up with any more.
Some important notes:
•Characters can’t just hate each other without a reason. There has to be one, otherwise it just seems pointless.
•Do not use ALL of these points all at once! Sprinkle some through-out the story and chapters! It would be really obvious that the characters hate each other otherwise.
•Don’t write it out as “Character A looked at everyone except character B,” that’s WAY too obvious! Write it like “Character B walked up to character A, standing at his shoulder. However, character A didn’t seem to acknowledge/notice him, even as he tapped his shoulder.” This is a much better example of how to write something like this. The best? No. But still better than straight-out telling the reader.
I hope this helps your writing, enjoy!! :)

Stop asking for permission to write
I keep seeing writers asking "Are writers allowed to _________ ?" Stop worrying about it and just create.
If you're a writer, consider this permission granted. You are hereby officially allowed to write whatever you want.
Write characters from other cultures! Write scenes loaded with sex and swearing! Drink absinthe! Summon evil spirits! Plunge the earth into eternal darkness! Use excessive commas! Whatever!
Just create!

Dream Jobs:
Reclusive Novelist. Writes sprawling gothic novels in isolation, rumored to be a vampire, emerging only to send off manuscripts before retreating into the shadows of a candlelit mansion.
Mysterious Antiquarian: Always found in dimly lit libraries, deciphering ancient scrolls by candlelight, dagger discreetly at hand for "protection".
Melancholic Poet with a Laudanum Habit: Writes verses at midnight, prone to night terrors and sleep-walking.
Occultist & Arcane Scholar: Conducts clandestine rituals, studies forbidden grimoires, and seeks contact with otherworldly entities.
Spiritualist Medium: Hosts late-night seances in candlelit parlors, contacting the otherworldly spirits of loved ones or tragic figures from history.
Tortured Artist: Paints dark, brooding masterpieces while battling personal demons, often found pacing in their paint-splattered studio talking to people no one can see.
Opium Den Proprietor: Runs a smoky, velvet-draped hideaway where melancholics and dreamers come to forget the troubles of modern life.
Eccentric Cryptid Hunter: Spends years traveling the globe in search of mythical creatures, with an air of aristocratic eccentricity and a passion for the bizarre.
Amateur Astronomer: Spends long nights in isolation, gazing at the stars through a brass telescope while crafting cryptic maps of constellations.
Traveling Apothecary: Wanders from town to town selling curatives, potions, and strange herbs while trading in whispered legends of lost cures and magic.
Silent Pianist: Plays hauntingly beautiful music in a derelict theater, with rumors that their audience is made up of long-dead spirits.
Lantern-Lit Fog Guide: Leads travelers through the thick, fog-covered streets of London at night, with many wondering if they guide them to safety or something more sinister.

if i revise a draft so many times that it’s almost unrecognizable from the original, is it still the same story, or have i created a completely new narrative?

the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.
if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.
