all jokes aside, I can't think of anyone more deserving of that Audi seat than Nico. he's one of those drivers who has put in insane amounts of work only to be faced with a lot of misfortune in his career, partly because of being the age to only see one dominant driver after another. he was a superstar in his junior career but never got to show it in F1. I'm so fucking happy that for once one of the most sought-after seats goes to a driver who isn't a multiple time world champion or race winner. he's got a lot to show still.

my hot take is that carlos doesn't "deserve better" from ferrari (relating to hamilton taking his seat). It's a part of the sport, drivers change teams all the time. and sometimes it sucks for a driver but calling it backstabbing or whatever is a lot. he got four seasons at ferrari, many drivers would kill for that. he's one of the top drivers in the sport right now, he'll be fine. people are acting as if he's disappearing from f1. (sidenote, I like carlos, this isn't hate to him in any way)

Sky Sport Germany just posted a video on instagram of Nico Rosberg bantering with Nico Hülkenberg and it's so funny! Nico H. calls Nico R. "Rosi"??? They joke about Nico R. negotiating that Audi contract for Hulk? This is everything I never knew I needed.

I feel like I need to also clarify this: in no world am I under the impression that F1 is anything but a cut-throat industry. This is a sport where you quite literally can't afford missteps or you are going to be out. That's just the nature of the sport. This post was created at 2am when I had a fever and was feeling emotional because I was comparing the mental stress of F1 drivers to some other smaller sports that genuinely do have these family-esque friend groups in them. F1 is and will always be business first.

Sometimes I find myself entertaining the idea that F1 is like a fun family environment where the drivers are one big group of friends and then I remember how Kmag said that he was "surprised the other drivers welcomed him back in 2022 because he'd heard how the others think he's a bad driver" and then I start thinking about how he was laughed at and given no support in his rookie season and then it makes me think of the same things happening to Mick and now it's happening to Logan all over again and I realize once again that the drivers are all just men and I need someone to keep a hold on these boys so that they don't sink.

Maturing is realizing that you can in fact be happy about other drivers getting the chance to fight for a win without finding some sick enjoyment about Max retiring due to something he had no control over.

As someone who has watched F1 for more than 15 years, I feel like it's a good time now before the ever so eventful Australian GP (and the 21 races later this year) to just remind everyone of a simple rule that some seem to have forgotten. "Oh goddammit *insert driver name*, why did you do that?!" is an acceptable reaction, in the comfort of your own home, to someone taking out your favorite from the race.

Sending death threats and hate to a driver is not.

The community is a much better place when we don't turn into rabid animals over the results of a single race, okay? Okay.

people always ask me why kmag is my favorite driver and for years I've been telling them because he is the ONLY driver who will never give up a race and today was a perfect example. he took 20sec in penalties (which he fully admitted to) and at NO point was he like "well that's my race done". He got told to defend and he *defended*. he fought for his teammate's one point like it was his own WDC title. he kept people behind him so long that they got lapped and scored a P12 with those penalties. he is my champion.
