Are you "um actually"ing me on the details of Abraham Van Helsing's relationship to Count Wolfgang Amadeus Dracula because of a joke in which Van Helsing talks to Carmilla Karnstein on an iphone? If you don't know, SD Simper is the author of the book 'Carmilla and Laura', hands down the best reimagining of the story, giving it a far better ending, and making the whole thing a whole lot gayer. It's a pretty close second for my favourite novel, right after the original.

Simper is also a prolific author of adult sapphic romance, fantasy, and horror. I'm nearly as obsessed with Sea and Stars trilogy as I am with Carmilla.

Seriously, go buy her books (please check the trigger warnings first, though!)

Hello, I love your work and had a silly question.

Would Carmilla love Laura if she became a werewolf? I mean, I imagine so, but would it change much between them?

Of course she would love her still! Nothing short of a final, permanent death could come between Carmilla and Laura, and as we know, even if that happened, the longing would never cease.

As for what it would change, it would depend on how you imagine werewolves in this scenario. A Laura who is cursed with uncontrolled transformations and violent bloodlust may become reliant on Carmilla to keep her safe and keep others safe from her. A Laura who is fully in control of her wolfish temperement and transformations, on the other hand, could find herself stripped of some naivete and passivity and thus shift the balance of power in their relationship in Laura's favour.

Either way, as a huge fan of werewolves, it's a story I'd love to read. An excellent silly question.

Laura 10hrs later after seeking warmth from Carmilla: 'Wait Carmilla you could go out of your extremely locked room, past other people's houses' locked doors and windows, and outside of your very sealed up tomb. You never needed to keep the door open to go outside.'

Laura only gets half way through this complaint. It's hard to criticise your hot vampire girlfriend when she's making out with you.
