New Aquarium

The other day I was at goodwill looking for clothes and I found this teeny aquarium!!

According to Math it’s 2.5 gallons. I’ve put some sand, a few rocks, and four pond snails in it, all from the river. The pond snails have been thriving (they’ve been in there for maybe a week now?)

Look at this little guy :)

Hopefully I can fix my camera soon and take some quality pictures. I also want to add some plants.

Opinions on having a betta in 2.5 gallons? Obviously the water would have to be changed often, but is 2.5 still too small?

This is Khoshekh.

Khoshekh’s full name is Khoshekh Roger Koschei, Destroyer of Worlds.

He was an early Christmas present (December 17th, 2016, if I’m remembering correctly). Originally a stray, he was caught and dewormed by my local SPCA. He’s my best (nonhuman) friend and he loves sleeping in inconvenient places, grabbing people’s faces, tripping people, begging for food, and dashing outside if the door is open for half a second.

Foam flashes when I come up for breath. The smell of it clings insistently to every beach cottage, every towel. The muscles of my throat pull it in desperately as it branches through my chest. Fingers wrinkle and whiten under gallons, streams, waterfalls of silky water. Mist clings to hair and whispers cold and jolting over bare burning skin. We must be children of the water, because it grabs like an overprotective parent.

Today I learned how to do a backflip. It was...weird. Exhilarating. I wasn't exactly sure what my body was doing, and I loved it. Being in control. Being out of control. Both. Balance. Chaos.
