Due to disability I am going on brief hiatus
Things have been very difficult and my mental health is suffering.
State benefits are still being dodgy, so I am selling all that I own to try and make rent. I am trying to care for my daughter but it’s extremely difficult. My partner is stuck between college and work, and is getting a max of $50 a week total from both.
I am having horrible episodes related to my disabilities and I need to take a break to recuperate and maybe get my life back on track.
If we have formed a friendship on here, I’m going to send you my discord so we can keep talking. You guys are wonderful.
I’m very sorry. I will probably be working on some projects behind-the-scenes in any spare time I have, but I can’t manage this account right now.
I’ll be back later,
Branwen

Creating and using sigils
feat. My Sigils Using a Sigil Wheel and Ogham Alphabet

Here are my favorite sigils that I’ve made. I make my sigils using a sigil wheel with the Ogham alphabet, but there are many ways to make sigils.
What is a sigil?
A sigil is a symbol with a mystical or magical meaning. The term sigil derives from the Latin sigillum, meaning "seal”.
A sigil has no spirit, but can hold and store energy much like crystals can. They also each have their own signature energy that they give off, just like crystals.
How can I make a sigil?
There are a few standard methods, but really you can use any method you’d like to.
The standard methods are with a sigil wheel, a number grid, a deconstructed letter, or just artistic.
I personally use the sigil wheel
See below for all of these methods
Using my sigils
Draw, carve, or otherwise inscribe your symbol or sigil spell onto an object. This could be used in conjunction with other spell types like petition spells and candle spells.
There are active sigils and passive sigils.
Passive Sigils
In passive sigil activation, the energy is usually released overtime through a very moderate, and controlled fashion. This method is done through the act of keeping your sigil around, so that it can continue to work, and releases energy when it is needed. You will have to recharge your sigils if you are using this method every once in awhile after they get low on energy, unless they have a source to draw energy from.
Ways to activate Passive Sigils
Putting the sigil on a piece of paper.
Drawing the sigil on your body.
Getting a tattoo of the sigil on your body.
Making a sigil amulet.
Writing, or carved the sigils upon wood, or stones.
Having a piece of clothing with the sigil on it, or sewn into it.
Active Sigils
In active sigil activation, the energy is usually released all at once, or in a very immediate fashion. This type of activation is usually going to be done through the act of destruction of the sigil, so that all the energy that has been charged into it can be released and fired into the universe. This type of method should be used on things that you want done that are pretty direct, and will only need to be impacted once.
Ways to activate active sigils
Putting the sigil on a piece of paper, and burning it in fire.
Putting the sigil on a piece of paper, and submerging it in water until it dissolves.
Place the sigil on a piece of paper, and rip it up.
Charging Sigils
Pushing energy into the sigil by using energy work.
Meditating intently on the sigil.
Focus on the sigil intensely.
Burning candles around, or on the sigil.
Putting the sigil in the sunlight, or moonlight.
Having the sigil on your person while going through your day, keeping it with you so that it can feed off your energy.
Placing crystals on top of the sigil.
Placing the sigil at a ley-marker.

Witchcraft hot take
IMHO we are way too harsh on “baby witches”. I see so many people saying “you can’t call yourself that” or “how come they don’t know the basics like X” or “you baby witches don’t know what you’re talking about on WitchTok” or “why do they always mess up X” or otherwise treating newer witches like they’re -excuse my French- morons.
I remember first coming onto Witchblr and feeling so unwelcome even though I don’t have TikTok and was just curious to learn.
We should be gently helping to teach the “baby witches”/new witches/beginners in the practice instead of berating them for learning. Because if we discourage them from learning, then the craft dies with us
Idk, just my personal thoughts after a few years on this app
TL;DR Stop being mean to baby witches

🌿Reminder for myself and other pagans 💜📿
There is no reason for anyone to tell you the way you practice is wrong. Religion evolves over time and everyone experiences it differently. It’s normal and natural to worship the gods in different ways people would have hundreds of years ago. Or even just ten years ago! As long as you are not being harmful to yourself and/or others, practice however you please!
I’ve seen some people consider only the way they worship to be valid, and it’s so hypocritical and frankly unkind. I support anyone who does not practice in ways that are considered “traditional” (again, with the intention that it is safe and respectful!) My blog is a safe-space and I never intend to shame anyone for the way they connect with the gods. 💜💜💜

my 'this but not that' tarot spread
A very simple spread my friends, to identify what the hecc is happening.
It's a three card draw - any arrangement will do.
first card - "the answer is,"
second card - "that is to say,"
third card - "..and it is not-"
example: "what are these weird vibes I'm getting from my friend?"
first card - "the answer is that your friend feels like they can't relate to your beliefs any more."
second card - "that is to say, your friend is growing emotionally in a direction that makes them question some of your beliefs."
third card - "and it's not that they think your beliefs are actually bad. they're just questioning a lot of things on an emotional level right now."

Hello my dear followers 💚, I have been working on a new post series for this page for a while, and I have the first set ready! As a geologist of 10 years now, I have amassed a passionate and extensive knowledge of gemological history and science, and have recently been exploring the metaphysics of it that I had avoided for so long before becoming a hellenist! These new posts will be a sort of portfolio covering the history, meanings, sciences, and pagan correspondents of well over 150 different stones! I have been working on a comprehensive and detailed directory to over 1,250 different minerals over the past 5 years since Covid began, and am ready to start sharing what I know! I will be releasing the first post with this one! Please let me know what you think, and if it helps you as a rescource for crystal witchcraft! Thank you, and blessed be your day 💙🏛️💙

How I Create Pouches for Spells
by repurposing old fabrics.
These DIY pouches are a personal and sustainable way to add an extra touch of intention to your spellwork.
Here are two methods I use: the Circular Pouch and the Sleeve Pouch. Both methods are beginner-friendly and require minimal sewing skills.
Materials Needed:
•Old fabric (such as clothes that no longer fit, sleeves, or scraps)
•Scissors
•Needle and thread (or a sewing machine)
•Cord, ribbon, or a fabric strip for tying the pouch
•Optional: Decorations (I decorate some pouches with embroidery, beads, or charms)
I experiment with different fabrics and colors for unique textures and energy. I prefer black sturdy materials for my protection spells, colorful tulle for beauty spells and blue velvet for good sleep spells.
Method A: Circular Pouch

This method works great for making versatile pouches of any size.
1. I prepare the fabric
I find a piece of fabric I no longer need.
I use scissors to cut the fabric into a circular shape. I sometimes use a plate or lid as a guide to trace the circle.
2. I create the cord
If the fabric doesn’t have a pre-existing cord, I cut a long, thin strip from the fabric itself to use as a cord.
I make sure it’s long enough to tie my pouch securely.
3. I assemble the pouch
I place my spell items in the center of the circle.
I gather the edges of the fabric upward to enclose the items.
I tie the cord around the gathered edges to secure my pouch.
And that’s it! A quick, no-sew pouch that’s perfect for small spells and charms.
Method B: Sleeve Pouch

This method is ideal for repurposing shirt or sweater sleeves and creates a sturdier pouch.
1. I cut the sleeve
I take an old shirt or sweater.
I cut the sleeve horizontally at the desired length to create a short fabric “pipe.” (The longer the piece, the larger your pouch.)
2. I sew the bottom
I turn the fabric inside out so the seams are on the outside.
I sew one of the open ends shut using a needle and thread.
Sometimes I reinforce the seam by stitching twice or using a strong thread.
3. I finish the pouch
I turn the fabric right-side out.
I use the open end as the top of the pouch.
I add my spell ingredients and tie it closed with a cord or ribbon.

Types Of Witchcraft
Note: These are general/basic explanations of different classes of magick/witchcraft. Practitioners can fall into multiple or none of these categories. Ultimately, only an individual can choose their labels.
Green: Utilizing greenery/plants/herbs/flowers in herbal/nature magick, such as creating blends of different plants or primarily using herbs in spellwork. May keep a garden and take great pride in their workings/connection to the earth and nature.
Hedge/Shamanic: A type of magick that's more oriented towards spirit work, Otherworld and astral travel, dream work, spiritual power and healing. May work with psychedelic/psychotropic/toxic plants and fungi as spiritual tools (ie: flying ointments/teas made from amanita muscaria or datura)
Sea: A type of magick derived from materials/abstract ideas involving the ocean world. Sea magick is worked using various items from as well as one's own connection to the sea and its creatures.
Storm: Magick that is worked by combining one's own energy with the energy of the weather, most commonly storms. Storm witches may have practices such as collecting storm water or snow, "whistling up" or manipulating winds, or performing rituals during severe weather.
Hearth/Kitchen: Magick performed through kitchen craft and/or mundane tasks/crafts around the home or for loved ones. Typically worked daily through food, herbal mixtures, crafting, decorating, and hobbies. May also work with the Fae/elements/nature.
Tea: Those who drink tea, make their own tea mixtures, or enjoy blending herbal remedies and often use reading tea leaves as their form of divination.
Urban: For those who live in or prefer an urban setting/lifestyle. Magick that is worked in densely populated areas and big cities, without some of the seemingly "traditional" aspects of witchcraft.
Tech: Magick that is skillfully worked through technology. A tech witch might cast spells/do divinatory readings on the internet, use magick based apps/programs, or keep a digital grimoire/library.
Elemental: Magick that is worked by honoring/acknowledging all 4/5 elements (Fire, Air, Water, Earth, and/or Spirit). Elementalists may dedicate part of their alter to each element and call upon them during rituals/spells. Conversely, they may choose to focus on only one element changing the designation to either fire, air, water or earth witchcraft.
Fae/Faerie: The magick of those who work and commune with the Fae. Faerie witches may do rituals/spells around the Fae, ask favors of them, have regular communication sessions, and leave them offerings. The Fae are very unpredictable and strong but, with time and respect, they share their magick with special individuals.
Infernal: A system of spirit work/magick that revolves around Infernal spirits/entities, such as demons, djinn, or other spirits of a chaotic alignment. This practice requires a surprising amount of shadow work and dismantling of oppressive religious systems. They may summon demons, perform rituals/spells with them, make deals, or take them up as magickal familiars.
Necromancy: The practice of seeking the assistance of, summoning, communication, and diving through the dead. Practitioners may frequent cemetaries/burial grounds/haunted locations and perform magick and spiritual/divinatory readings there. Often employ the use of pendulums, dowsing rods, talking boards, black mirrors, grave dirt, and bones.
Draconian: Draconian magick is a practice that involves engaging with dragons as powerful forces and allies in spiritual practice. It can include rituals, symbolism, and techniques to connect with dragons, and may be used for empowerment, healing, and spiritual growth.
Chaos: A type of magick utilizing new, non-traditional, and unorthodox methods. It is a highly individualistic practice that draws from many magickal disciplines (eclecticism).
Blood/Sanguine: A very potent class of magick that includes the use of one's own blood or that of another in powerful rituals/spells.
Sigil/Art: The use of sigils, symbols, glyphs, runes, or artwork infused with will and intention. This practice is vast, versatile, and diverse with each practioner producing truly unique results.
Lunar: Lunar magick is the practice of performing rituals during the different phases of the Moon to bring about physical or psychological change. They may honor/worship the Moon, do moonlight rituals, or make moon waters. Conversely, one could work with the Sun in much the same fashion.
Cosmic/Celestial: Magick that incorporates the stars and planets. Astrology is a dominant force in their lives and witchcraft and they consider the placement of celestial bodies before doing a working.
Crystal: Incorporation of crystals/stones in one's magickal practice. May make crystal grids, include them in their spells, use them in energy work, meditation, or for Reiki healing.
Glamour: Glamour magick is an enchantment type that adjusts or changes your outward appearance, or people's perception of your outward appearance and can include the enchanting of jewelry, clothing, and even makeup for magickal purposes.
Shadow: Magick with a focus on the elements of darkness and shadow. May practice umbrakinesis (shadow manipulation), magickal subterfuge and illusion, and feel at peace, and even practice, in pitch black darkness
Are there any you feel I should have included? Please let me know! I'd love to expand this list. :)

Secret Magical Gift Swap 2024/2025 - Sign-Ups Open! 🔮🌿🍄

Hi everyone! ✨
After a break of 6 years, the Secret Magical Gift Swap is back!
The aim of the swap is to create friendships within the pagan/witchcraft/heathenry/other spiritual community and spread the gift of giving through a postal Secret Santa style event where you send a gift and receive one in return. It's tailored to witches, pagans, heathens, non-religious and religious people alike, Kemetics, Hellenics, polytheists of all sorts, those interested in nature paths, those that follow folk religions, astrologers and others on a path of alternative practice or magic.
In the past this was an annual event but we are now back with a plan to keep the Swaps going a few times a year, more than likely quarterly, with one for every season.
To start this new chapter off, I decided to create the first Swap now, around the very season of giving. However, with the way the financial situation is around the world right now and many post offices being closed for the end of December and start of January, this first Swap will go on from now until the end of January, with a short break in February before we jump into the second Secret Magical Gift Swap!
🍄✨ How to Join The SMGS 24/25:
Read the event rules here and here.
Fill out the Sign-Up form here.
Reblog this post to spread the word!
Join our Discord server if you have a Discord account, for which an invite will be sent to you some time after joining the Swap (this may take time as I'm currently setting up the server :'D)
If you have any questions, please send an ask or message to here or to the organizer, @fernsinthemist The deadline for joining the Swap is November 28th!
Participants will be paired up and sent out within a few days after the deadline.
Enjoy the Swap, everyone!
I am also looking for help! If you are interested in helping to organize this Swap or future Swaps, please fill out this form to apply for a moderator role!

Illuminating the Path: A Beginner's Guide to Candle Magick
🕯️✨🔮
Candle magick is a beautiful and accessible way to harness the power of fire and light in your magical practice. Whether you're new to witchcraft or looking to deepen your connection with this ancient art, candle magick offers a versatile and powerful tool for manifesting intentions, creating sacred space, and connecting with the divine. Let's explore the basics of candle magick, how to choose and prepare your candles, and discover simple spells and rituals to illuminate your path.
What is Candle Magick?
Candle magick involves using candles as a focal point for your intentions, prayers, and spells. The flame of the candle represents the element of fire, a symbol of transformation, energy, and purification. The act of lighting a candle and focusing on its flame helps concentrate your energy and send your intentions out into the universe.
Choosing Your Candles
The first step in candle magick is selecting the right candle for your purpose. Candles come in various shapes, sizes, and colors, each holding unique magical properties.
Colour Correspondences:
White: Purity, protection, healing, spiritual growth
Red: Passion, strength, courage, love
Pink: Love, friendship, compassion, emotional healing
Orange: Creativity, enthusiasm, success, joy
Yellow: Wisdom, communication, mental clarity, confidence
Green: Prosperity, abundance, health, growth
Blue: Peace, tranquility, protection, intuition
Purple: Spirituality, psychic abilities, wisdom, power
Black: Protection, banishing negativity, grounding
Brown: Stability, grounding, home protection, animal magic
Types of Candles:
🕯️Taper Candles: Tall and thin, ideal for longer rituals and spells.
🕯️Pillar Candles: Thick and sturdy, suitable for extended workings and larger spells.
🕯️Tea Light Candles: Small and convenient, perfect for simple spells and meditations.
🕯️Chime Candles: Short and fast-burning, great for quick spells and intention-setting.
Preparing Your Candles
Once you've chosen your candle, it's essential to prepare or "dress" it for your magical work. This involves cleansing, charging, and anointing the candle to align it with your intention.
Cleansing: Cleanse your candle to remove any unwanted energies. You can pass it through the smoke of incense, sprinkle it with salt water, or hold it under running water while focusing on purifying it.
Charging: Charge your candle by holding it in your hands and visualizing your intention. Imagine your goal or desire flowing from your heart into the candle, filling it with energy and purpose.
Anointing: Anoint your candle with a suitable oil to enhance its power. Use oils that correspond to your intention, such as lavender for peace, rosemary for protection, or cinnamon for prosperity. Apply the oil from the top of the candle to the middle, then from the bottom to the middle.
Simple Candle Magick Spells and Rituals
Basic Intention Setting Spell
This is a straightforward spell for beginners to focus on a specific goal or desire.
1. Choose a candle color that matches your intention.
2. Write your intention on a piece of paper.
3. Light the candle and visualize your intention coming to fruition.
4. Focus on the flame and chant your intention, such as "I am attracting abundance" or "I am protected and safe."
5. Burn the paper in the candle's flame and let the candle burn down safely.
Candle Meditation for Clarity
This ritual helps clear your mind and gain insight or guidance.
1. Choose a white or blue candle.
2. Light the candle and sit comfortably in front of it.
3. Focus on the flame and take deep breaths, allowing your mind to clear.
4. Ask a question or seek guidance, and watch the flame for any flickers or movements.
5. Meditate for as long as you feel necessary, then extinguish the candle.
Protection Candle Spell
This spell creates a shield of protection around you or your home.
1. Choose a black or white candle.
2. Anoint the candle with protection oil (e.g., rosemary or frankincense).
3. Light the candle and visualize a protective shield surrounding you or your space.
4. Chant, "By this flame, I am protected. Negative energies are deflected."
5. Let the candle burn down safely, reinforcing your protective barrier.
Love and Friendship Spell
This spell attracts love, compassion, and friendship into your life
1. Choose a pink candle.
2. Write your desire for love or friendship on a piece of paper
3. Anoint the candle with rose oil
4. Light the candle and visualize loving energy flowing towards you.
5. Chant, "Love and friendship come my way, with harm to none, this I say."
6. Burn the paper in the flame and let the candle burn down safely.
Tips for Safe and Effective Candle Magick
• Always practice fire safety. Never leave a burning candle unattended and place it on a heat-resistant surface.
• Use a snuffer or your fingers to extinguish candles. Blowing them out can disperse the energy.
• Be mindful of the candle's flame and wax. The way it burns can provide insights into your spell's effectiveness.
• Keep a journal of your candle magick experiences to track your progress and learn from each ritual.
Candle magick is a powerful and accessible way to work with the elemental energy of fire and manifest your desires. By choosing the right candles, preparing them with intention, and engaging in simple spells and rituals, you can harness the transformative power of candle magick to illuminate your path and achieve your goals. As you light your candles, may your intentions burn bright, your heart be full of magic, and your spirit be guided by the gentle glow of the flame.
Happy casting!

whenever i get sad that i don’t have friends to worship and do rituals with, I remember that birds sing love songs into the sky everyday, and the grass dances in the wind when it blows. And the clouds blush at the sunset, and the wind whistles tunes, and the bees hum, and the deer trot. And then I remember that the river runs, and the flowers open themselves to the sun, and the bugs sleep on warm leaves. and as I walk and pray, perhaps the rabbits nibbling on shrubs are praying too, perhaps that’s why the spider spun her web so beautifully. and then I remember that I’m not worshipping alone. I never was.

SAMPLE INTERPRETATION
The Two Paths
Should I stay with this company or not?
The Present
Your concern is financial stability. You are wondering which path will give you the most abundance (Ten of Pentacles).
The Immediate Future for Each Path
If you stay with the company, you will feel emotionally secure and valued for your contributions (Queen of Cups). If you leave, exciting changes will happen (Eight of Wands). Staying ensures a level of stability. But leaving offers the chance for progress.
The Obstacle for Each Path
If you stay, you will long for more recognition and glory than you will get (Six of Wands). If you leave, you will have to wait awhile for the fame you desire (Seven of Pentacles).
The Advice for Each Path
If you stay, you must find a way to accept that you will never be content. You will always yearn for more light (The Moon). If you leave… it will take time… but know that you will someday sit on the throne that is meant for you alone (Queen of Wands).
The Ultimate Outcome for Each Path
If you stay, your superiors’ admiration (Three of Pentacles) will give you a sense of stability (Four of Wands). You will, however, always suffer from inner turmoil (The Tower). If you leave, you will experience inner clarity (Page of Swords). Your intellectual potential will reach its peak (King of Swords). And you will at last find the happiness you seek (Three of Cups).

You don’t have to have fancy crystals and herbs for spell jars btw. You can use sugar, coffee grounds, leaves, acorns, etc. Don’t fall victim to witchcraft consumerism.

Just because a spell doesn't seem to manifest exactly how you wanted doesn't mean that nothing happened.
A spell could have:
Resolved blockages or entanglements behind the scenes
Paved the way to make accomplishing your goal more likely
Patched over energetic "leaks" in adjacent areas that had to be fixed before this manifestation would work
Prevented the situation from worsening
It is possible for an effective spell to not appear to have done much at all.
This could also hypothetically mean that you really do have to cast the same spell three or four times before enough underlying issues are resolved to get you what you want.
I do not think all magic necessarily works like this.
But I do think that sometimes, witches underestimate the amount of times they need to engage with magical reality in order to affect real change in the world around them.
