Having a toxic mother when ur about to graduate highschool is a bad combo.
She's the type of person who's extremely plastic, praising her "motherly" acts when majority of the time, she insults me and my siblings and holding us to incredibly high standards. (I will provide more details in my next post)
For context, I and graduating 12th grade without any awards (aside from certificates of appreciation for my work and stuff from various clubs and section). My grades are good (no honors tho cuz my school has a 95 average grade only honors and my average grade is 92)
Having an award means you'll get a medal of said award when u go up on stage to get ur diploma.
Well, I told her beforehand that I didn't have any and she blamed it all on me. Funny thing is, she has said on multiple occassions that she is "totally fine" if I graduate without any wards, even saying that she will "love" me for who I am.
She called me a lazy and ungrateful person who doesn't take school seriously and that its my fault that I don't have any activities from clubs.
Recalling the certificates I've received, yes I did join club activities, HOWEVER, when it came to multiple outdoor club activities, SHE prevented from going. Whenever I asked for her permission she would always say no and give reasons (actually dumb reasons). I told her and she said I was blaming her (I mean yeah).
I've heard and believe that awards don't define success in the future and so despite this, I'll study hard. I've already been accepted into university for an Occupational Therapy Course and am just waiting for graduation and my final report card.
Extra:
My parents tried to force me to become a doctor but that's a story for another time.

Is it gaslighting if your parents tell you that you are wasting your talent by not performing? But when you do perform, they comment on how bad your performance was. Then if you complain about how you are so stressed trying to keep up with their standards, they put the blame on you saying they never did anything to force you.
