Been playing a lot of Witcher 3 lately and this is what it feels like. I can't believe I didn't really play gwent at all on my first playthrough. It's so fun collecting the cards.

I spent a whole day doing nothing but play gwent in Novigrad

Camp Here and There's new season is out now and I'm overjoyed to see it come back. There was a long time where I wasn't sure it would, though I kept tabs on the discord every now and then.
It's a really unique podcast, to me anyway. Close to the end of its first season, I happened upon it while looking through Will Wood's albums.
It drew me in immediately. Sydney's bright cheerful attitude, accompanied by his deep care and respect for the campers is absolutely the biggest draw for me. I found the show a huge reprieve in a very difficult time in my life. Overworked, alone, and very early in my transition, a summer camp where queerness is normal (by far the most normal thing in the show) was very deeply comforting.
I don't have very much experience with summer camps besides my early boy scout days. I have trouble looking back on those days either fondly or at all, but Camp Here and There makes me want to try to make a place like it. Camp Here and There and Jay Dragon's Sleepaway rpg both have a love for summer camps that is infectious.
I know there are some particularly queer summer camps in a few places, but where I'm at it's more feasible to just try to BE the safe, proudly-queer staff at a summer camp. I know if I do go down that route I couldn't go too wrong channeling some of Sydney's comforting enthusiasm.
But, to get back to the show, it's really special, even among other 'audio-dramas'. Camp Here and There was my first, but even after listening to The Bright Sessions, Magnus Archives, and The Strange Case of Starship Iris (to name a few), none have had quite the same level of writing, pace, and charm as Camp Here and There.
The script can sometimes come off as though Blue (the series' writer, director, and main VA) is just listing as many random surreal things as can come to mind but everything does seem to eventually build its own surreal kind of sense. Many of the details do have a crafty satisfying payoff (in-the-same episode too), though I usually only catch them on a re-listen. And what doesn't neatly 'payoff' always adds to the character of the camp and its residents.
It is certainly "horror-comedy" with emphasis on the comedy. While any one thing in the show might be horrifying on its own, it's all couched in Sydney's optimism and comedic timing that we aren't left to dwell on any one thing too long. The world may actually be quite horrifying to live in, but in this summer camp told from Sydney's perspective the tone is distinctly like a Saturday-morning-cartoon.
That isn't to say it doesn't have any narrative weight, on the contrary, nearly every episode is an emotional gut punch. At the end of every episode, when Sydney puts away the mask for his 'ghost' recorder, everything they're going through tugs on the heart strings. It isn't scary, at least not the terror like listening to a bit too many episodes of the Magnus Archives leaves me with. None of the horrors, Elephant Man especially, leave me dreading what may lurk in the shadows. But I understand Sydney is scared, and that he is in a situation where he is made to feel alone and crazy for having that fear. Sydney's situation is deeply relatable and rends my heart every time I hear it (as the song When Somebody Needs You has done since listening to the show for the same reasons).
I'm really glad to see the series' second season releasing, and while it has been very difficult to get any of my close friends to try the series at all, I am very happy to be here for its return. This time I can get excited with the rest of the community, and maybe finally talk to some other people about this wonderful show.

Just finished playing Wanderstop and wow, I've got a lot of feelings around this game. I tried to follow the game's advice, enjoy running the tea shop and "being bored" for a while before finally wrapping up.
So, I've actually been mostly done with Wanderstop's narrative for a while now, especially since I had to step away from the game to sort out some life stuff so I could actually approach that task genuinely.
Before I get into it though, I thought I'd just share a couple screenshots from my playthrough:

I know a lot of games (RPGs and stat-based games at least) have save file editors, though I am by no means an expert on them. But if a game is inaccessible you have a right to break it open and mod it until it is. I know plenty of people who would enjoy games a lot more if this was a more accessible option too.
Idk how hot of a take this is but more video games should have options for people to change their name/gender/appearance whenever they want in the game without having to make a whole new save. My animal crossing island still has my deadname for my character because I’ve had it since I still thought I was cis and I’m glad I can change my gender but I can never talk to any of my villagers because all I see is my deadname but I don’t want to loose so much progress I’ve made. Same thing goes for games like stardew valley where i have to get to such a far point in the game in order to change anything about my character. I feel like it should be more accessible? But that’s just my opinion

The games in this year's Day of the Devs are positively stunning. Truly, a feast for the eyes!
If you saw this pop up on Steam like me but maybe are a bit too overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of games on offer then here's five worth a wishlist. And a peek at the trailers because indie game trailers are getting GOOD!
To start, my personal favorite, Skin Deep. This little number seems to be one part Prey (2016), one part F.E.A.R., and served in that Blendo signature style (and hey, is that ProZD?). Take a look:
youtube
I'm hyped! And there's a demo too!
That was a tad hectic. I think I could use a little bit of a breather, don't you? Have a look at ILA: A Frosty Glide for a much "breezier" cat rescue:
youtube
Is that girl in the alps? There's a demo for this one too! And who wouldn't want to save that cat?
I think we've gotten far enough along together that I can share you something a bit more serious. A bit odd. Here's Dreams of Another:
youtube
I'm cautiously excited. However it turns out, I want to see it.
Pretty deep. I want to have some classic fun though. Where's the blood? I've got you. Here's some good viking action for you and your mates. This. Is. Tears of Metal:
youtube
Hack and slash, co-op, and a roguelike? What's not to love! This feels like everything I wanted from Valhalla and more!
Oh gosh, we're at #5 already? I feel like I'm on the spot. I could show you something more for you and your friends? Something flashy (or really flashy)? Experimental? Or what's likely to be a crowd-pleaser. But what can I say? I'm sentimental.
Here's Inkression, a game about capturing the stories of your dying neighborhood through tattoos:
youtube
Thank you for sticking with me! Maybe you found something new from this? Or maybe you decided to take the plunge yourself and uncovered a game even I haven't seen? In either case, do let me know!

I'm Delilah and welcome to my space! I'm still moving in but soon we'll have some neat things to look at.
My goal is to find and appreciate media (particularly games) that do something novel or can really resonate. I want to show you games you might not have heard of or you might have tossed aside thinking you weren't really missing out on anything. Or just stuff that means a lot to me.
Stories mean a lot to me. At least one game helped me accept I was trans. Some helped me explore my gender safely and made me question it even further when I thought I had it all figured out.
Many have given me hope for a better world. They've inspired me to work towards telling my own stories, so that I might one day help someone through their situation.
So thanks for stopping by! I hope you find something that makes your day a little brighter.
