When we miss a bus, lose a job, or find ourselves unable to marry the person we want, have we ever stopped to consider the possibility that it may have been for our own good?

Allah tells us in the Quran: "...But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you, and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not." ( 2:216)

When Allah closes a door that we want to open so badly, let us not despair. Let us not end up staring indefinitely at the closed doors of our lives. Let us not forget to notice the ones that have opened. Let us take a step back and notice the bigger picture. Often Allah takes things away from us, only to replace them with something greater. 🤍

Ibn al-Qayyim said: 

"If you knew the true value of yourself, you would never allow yourself to be humiliated by committing sins.

When Iblīs refused to bow to your father 'Adam, he refused to bow to you, so why have you become his friend and left us?

If there was any love in your heart, it's effect would appear on your body."

هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُ ٱلْبَارِئُ ٱلْمُصَوِّرُ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

"He is Allah: the Creator, the Inventor, the Shaper. He ˹alone˺ has the Most Beautiful Names. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth ˹constantly˺ glorifies Him. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise."

(59:24)

يقضيها الله لك رغم الظروف والأبواب المغلقة؛ لتعلم أنَّ اللهَ إذا أراد شيئًا أتاك به. Allah will make it happen for you despite the circumstances and closed doors; to teach you that when Allah wants something for you, He brings it to you.

Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord

And they who believe in the signs of their Lord

And they who do not associate anything with their Lord

And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful [Lest their deeds not be acceptable.] because they will be returning to their Lord -

It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein.

sūrah mu’minūn 57-61

“Whoever says, 'SubḥānAllāhi wa biḥamdihi,' one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea.”

صحيح البخاري ٦٤٠٥

The Prophet ﷺ said, “There is not a day upon which the servant awakens but that two angels descend. One of them says: O Allāh, repay one who spends in charity! The other says: O Allāh, give destruction to one who withholds charity!”

قد تركت الدنيا

I have abandoned the world

لا أريدُ صديقًا غير الله

I no longer desire a friend other than Allah

أصبحت غريبًا بين أهلي

I have become a stranger among my own family

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۚ قُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

"And if you asked them, "Who created the heavens and earth?" they would surely say, "Allāh." Say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allāh"; but most of them do not know."

(31:25)

“No one leaves their house in search of knowledge but that the angels will lower their wings in approval of what he does”

سنن ابن ماجه ٢٢٦

“So race towards all that is good.”

2:148

“Verily, Allāh Almighty will raise the status of His righteous servants in Paradise, and they will say: O Lord, what is this? Allāh will say: This is your child seeking forgiveness for you.”

Musnad Aḥmad 10610

“Whoever fasts the month of Ramaḍān and then follows it with six days of fasting in the month of Shawwal, it will be as if he has fasted for the entire year.”

how kind is our Lord?

“Whoever comes to his carpet intending to stand for prayer at night, yet his eyes are overcome with sleep until morning, his intention is recorded for him, and his sleep is charity from his Lord Almighty to him.”

Sunan al-Nasā’ī 1787

“Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allāh will make easy for him a path to Paradise.”

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2699

“Verily, there are one hundred levels in Paradise, the distance between them like the heavens and the earth. Al-Firdaws is the highest and most ideal level, for above that is the Throne of the Most Merciful and from it flow the rivers of Paradise. When you ask from Allāh, ask for Al-Firdaws.”
