lemme rephrase that then, thoughts on the character and enemy/monster design for Look Outside? like idk i get its a horror game but im ngl these designs have me raising an eyebrow knowing they were designed by a white person... (granted i havent played/watched it myself either but tbh i have my doubts that any additional context gained from playing it would make me feel these sort of designs are acceptable.) the first 3 pictures are of main characters/companions, and the last 2 are examples of enemy npcs....

That last one in particular is giving

It probably wouldn't be as bad to me without the hair, but... Do all the enemies in this game look like this? All with dark brown skin and big eyes and blood lined lips with "pokey" hair? Like, my first thought seeing this was "so it's a spook" and I mean that word in the racist meaning that it has. I'm going to let people who have played this game offer some context.

She didn't draw the destruction as it is, but as she saw it: The house standing, the windows open, the white curtains moving in the breeze, her mother calling her from the kitchen, her little brother running down the corridor, and herself looking out from the balcony to draw the sea. She was engraving the lines of memory with her pen as if to say, "Perhaps flying can erase walls, but no one can erase what I draw." A young neighbor passed by, recognized her, and asked, "Are you still drawing despite everything?" She replied, without taking her eyes off the paper, "I don't draw despite everything... I draw because everything is over." Rania's drawings spread across the internet, and people began to see her destroyed house through her eyes. One painting was titled "The House as It Was," another: "The Room I Dreamed of," and "The Fig Tree That Didn't Last the Season." In a world where images proliferate without a soul, Rania's paintings were a window beyond the destruction: an invitation to see not only what was lost, but also what must return. Although she still sleeps in a room without a roof, each painting she creates is a new ceiling for a homeland that never died.

Yesterday, Nader @abdalsalam2000 witnessed three people martyred and multiple injured from an explosion in his displacement site in Gaza. You can read his description of what happened in more detail in his post here. It’s not the first time, and it unfortunately most likely won’t be the last time he has to see something like this. This is the reality of his life in Gaza under the occupation. No one should have to experience this, and especially not a seventeen year old. Nader has lost many relatives and his home in the past one and a half years, and has been displaced more than ten times. All of this at only seventeen years old.

He is raising money to support his family of eight, which includes one year old Iman and his father Ahmed who has cancer. It’s very urgent to get Ahmed the healthcare he needs and evacuate as soon as the border opens, especially because he hasn’t had access to treatment for a long time because of the destruction of the healthcare system. Food is also extremely expensive in Gaza now.

DONATE TO SUPPORT LGBTQ REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS IN GOROM REFUGEE CAMP:

On April 29th, 2025 Rainbow Railroad, a reputable nonprofit organization based in Canada highlighted (on their official Facebook page) the risky and poor living conditions of the LGBTQ refugees and asylum seekers in Gorom refugee camp in South Sudan. Rainbow Railroad identifies LGBTQ persons at risk around the world and refers them to the Canadian government for immigration into Canada where they can enjoy homosexual rights. Just like the immigration (resettlement) process through the UNHCR, this immigration process through Rainbow Railroad usually takes years as we suffer in the refugee camps.

The living conditions of LGBTQ refugees and asylum seekers in the Gorom refugee camp in South Sudan are very poor and risky; we suffer from discrimination and homophobic attacks from both the rest of the refugee population in the camp and the host community in addition to lack of basic human needs.

We lack basic human needs like food, decent housing, clothes, sanitary pads, proper medical treatment, clean drinking water, etc. The UNHCR through the World Food Programme provides only about $10 per refugee per month to cater for all the basic needs for the month. This money ($10) barely sustains a person for two days. Many of us have become skinny and malnourished as a result of underfeeding because we survive on one meal a day to be able to pass through the money with the limited financial support for feeding.

The environment we are living in is so risky that there are rampant cases of individuals falling sick of malaria, typhoid, bacterial infections, fungal infections, and recently, there is a overwhelming number of cholera patients. When we fall sick, we have to seek medical treatment from private health facilities and this requires money. A considerable number of members in our LGBTQ refugee community are suffering from complicated diseases and health conditions such as HIV/AIDS, asthma, diabetes, etc. These require urgent and proper medical attention and healthy feeding.

Decent housing has become sort of a luxury as we are living in makeshift structures and tents that leak when it rains, causing inconveniences, discomfort, and sleepless nights. This exposes us, mostly the minors among us to the risk of getting pneumonia and other illnesses associated with coldness. We thus need money to renovate our makeshift structures and replace those that are damaged beyond repair and renovation.
