What a privilege to not feel sick to your stomach.

Today, I woke up with a heavy heart. One look at my phone and I had my answer. They elected him again. I’m not American but I care and I cried for you.

Yesterday, someone asked me why I was upset about the US election when it’s not even my country. Because I have sympathy. Because it affects every woman in this world. Because what happened to them can happen to me. Because it’s fucking 2024 and men would sooner put a country to the torch than see a woman ascend the presidency and it’s our reality. Because even in Europe, the far-right public debate more and more and it legitimizes extremist parties as well.

Because some men will never understand. They will never understand. Obvious about what this election represented. The disconnect and privilege is astounding. Must be nice to be a man and never have elections impact their right to live. Must be nice to not have a care for the world but their own self.

I know that it’s a sad time. Some of us don’t want to fight anymore. It’s exhausting and I know it. But we are not going back. We won’t let them take us back to dark times. I choose to be positive. If we stand together, it will all work out. Today, he has won thanks to misinformation and lack of education. Information and education are therefore our weapons. Let’s share it.
