Will definitely be seeing you again soon. - Still testing out my nutrition along the way. - Practicing nutrition before a marathon is as important as practicing running and recovery strategies before race day. Everyone needs something a little different. And this is time to find out what you’ll need based on what you like, how your digestive system- Gastrointestinal tract responds to foods. - Before a race, as in the days leading up and especially the night before you’ll want to make sure there are some good healthy whole grain carbs in there. Good healthy low glycemic carbs. Race day is different. In any endurance sport the body will want fast acting carbs or high glycemic carbs. Usually regarded as unhealthy. But in this instance the body doesn't need to work in breaking down whole grains. It needs quick digesting and an easy load on the stomach as all the other systems are working to keep the muscles firing, heart and lungs racing along. - My goal is to keep energy up naturally but also preserve muscle. It’s hard to tell when it’s cardiovascular fitness slowing or energy levels. So as long as i’m still moving and being consistent it WILL happen! Today was probably overkill with the sugary snacks and drinks but i’m also very cautious about not under eating which could be detrimental to muscle mass loss being lean already. So over snacking as long as my tummy isn’t turning or I need to run the bathroom i’ll be fine. I often get asked what does the triangle represent. 🌱 Where ever you are in life looking after your body physically is a good idea. You may be suffering internally both emotionally, mentally and spiritually and that is ok! 🌿 “One in four people will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives” WHO ☘️ People do heal, get better and experience happiness. 🍃 Science has proved time and time again that getting moving is good for brain health. Aesthetics is temporary. 🌿Focus on being able to do stuff. Walk 10km. Run 3km. Squat. Climb. Swim. Handstand. Anything. Getting the blood flowing and experiencing some endorphins works! Mow the lawn or pull some weeds if that’s all you can for now. ☘️ How do I know this because soon I’ll be 44 and I’m the fittest I’ve ever been and I have seen some shitty dark deep holes. Moving and feeling good about knowing my body is in physically good condition even though my mind is struggling sometimes balanced this shit out. 🌱 Don’t feel shit about your body and your mind and do nothing. No one is going to knock on your front door unfortunately and say let’s go for a walk. If they do go!!! If you know someone go knock on their door!!! 🌿 Get strong. Stay strong. Stay disciplined. I see way to many blokes over committed to their jobs, thinking they are too old to get in shape or stay fit, haven’t got time or money, have a niggle or even a chronic pain complaint that won’t allow them to move. 🤼♂️ On the whole these are all misbeliefs. I see family men, men in wheel chairs or missing limbs, business owners, people with really complex demanding jobs all making time. The key is making time. Shuffle your schedule. Cut a few bad habits out. Make health through exercise and nutrition a priority. 🏋🏻♀️ I get most clients depending on their goals to do 2-3 strength sessions per week plus get out and go for a walk on 2-3 other days. Total time including, preparation, driving, showering etc- well not much. If you want a 40plus coach who has done it himself get in touch. Some basics we all need reminding of. Even me. ✅ Go support a good quality restaurant or learn to cook yourself. The restaurant will hopefully cook and prepare everything with culinary expertise using whole fresh, meat, poultry, fish, seafood, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains. Not frozen chicken parmigiana. Try a lighter weight as an intro to these banded back squats. ✅ Try keeping the knees tracking (in line) with toes as you squat. Squat as low as you can. The tension you keep on the band will give you some added activation on mostly the ABductors but you’ll feel it all through your legs most likely. ✅ This is a great way to train your knees tracking over your toes. If you want start with banded body weight squats first. ✅ You’ll almost always see me with my clients squatting with some variation. Never underestimate the basics. Repeat as often as possible and mix it up regularly. ✅ For a realistic no bullshit approach to a gym program getting you good at the fundamentals of basic human movement come say hello in the gym.
