A lineup of all the Murky Mirror Tavern characters! It was very refreshing to go and clean up a lot of their designs.

Zee is a rarely-seen member of The Murky Mirror, technically not employed there but living in its attic. She tends to slink off to her workshop (where she performs necromancy) at odd hours, and seems to be relatively secretive about herself as a person.

Meet Burven Woodsworthy! He's the Murky Mirror's singular bartender, known for being incredibly polite (albeit naive) and well-liked by customers. Despite being 24, he's been technically working at his family tavern since he was 12.

Fox is the only waitress AND cook for The Murky Mirror (yes, they are very understaffed), known for barely being able to hide her grumpy, crass nature, she seems to possess some soft spot for Burven.

Felix is a mysterious regular at The Murky Mirror, there not for food and drink, but rather the stowaway in its attic. They're extremely curious to find out where Zee came from and why she's so mysterious. Otherwise, they're actually a doctor-shaman in The Mirage!

The lead singer of a regular band called Crow's Pestilence, this is Wendy Silknook. She often conducts very theatrical performances, matched with her good-natured, laid-back attitude.

Finally, Bjorn Silknook is the newest addition to the main cast, having been reunited with Wendy only recently. He seems to possess a great deal of energy and charm, eager to perform in Crow's Pestilence...until you look away, that is.

i can't express how absolutely important it is that when you make an edgy, brooding, badass character who's tough as nails and good at fighting and whatever, you HAVE to give them at least one reason to become completely helpless and pathetic. you have a panic attack quota to fulfill.

Update but not time!

So, I meant to announce BOTS was going on a brief hiatus last week for the month of May due to school reasons.

But then it turns out my hard drive was about to cough and perish as I started getting extremely bad bluescreens, so it was a bit before that could be replaced (dw, I managed to save everything on a flash drive, no stuff lost!)

So now we're back to regular posts, and BOTS will resume updates in June!

Without further ado, here's one of the two main kids, Jonas Jackson!

Jonas is a 10-year old boy who was born in Tumbleweed, TX, growing up surrounded by all of its deadbeat attractions and aging architecture. Due to a difficult home life, his grandma, Lenore, works a job in her old age to help support him-he's very bitter about this arrangement, feeling that she shouldn't have to work for his hopeless future.

Otherwise, he's quite cynical, rude, sarcastic, and bitter about his situation-but there's a glimmer of something sweeter in there.

Serious one of my favorite designs of all time, shame I don't draw him enough.

Amanzi is The Mirage's Wielder of Water, who was once a boy raised on a whaling ship (or their equivalent) by a loose family of crewmen. He loved them deeply, but their lives were brought to an end by a sudden attack from an entire pod of the very sea monsters they were hunting, killing the crew and leaving Amanzi to become a ghost out of sheer rage. For years he haunted the waters, causing boats to capsize or summoning storms, until he attacked a ship that held the Zotura of water...
