What's on my Ipod these days ?
January, new year for music with already great tracks on air. Here are a few tunes I got on my ipod. elbow - Fly Boy Blue / Lunette Their New album 'The Take Off and Landing of Everything' out is expected in march. They have played together since 1990, but since 1997 as Elbow, and have released five studio albums: Asleep in the Back (2001), Cast of Thousands (2003), Leaders of the Free World (2005), The Seldom Seen Kid (2008), and Build a Rocket Boys! (2011). They've got a great songwriting with great melodies.
The Bohicas - Swarm New band from London (originally the half line up of Eugene Mcguiness). His brother Dominic came out earlier this month with his new band The Bohicas. We don't know pretty much about them yet, but will be a band to watch out this year. An EP is scheduled for February. You can see them playing live in some London clubs.
Temples - Mesmerise I introduced you to that band on my past post. Their album is expected next month but they have already 3 songs online. This power psychedelic band is expected to be massive and they will be supporting Interpol on the NME awards tour !
Mac De Marco - Passing Out Pieces With a third album coming out in April 'Salad Days', Mac De Marco has unveiled the first single from his forthcoming album. Not a big fan of Canadian music but must say that this lad has some great melodies
Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots Albarn, the former frontman for Blur and the Gorillaz, is known for consistently pushing the boundaries to alternative music, starting things off for the upcoming album is the music video for the lead single “Everyday Robots".I felt a strong Bobby Womack influence to it ! It might takes a few listen to like it... I
Beck - Blue Moon With a new album coming out next month, Beck unveiled this track that uminates loneliness. In my opinion there's something again more colourful about this track as his previous works before the album "Sea Change".

Putting the kettle on , its tea time here... Musical history is to be brought to life in Marylebone, after a £1.2 million grant has allowed The Heritage Lottery Fund to recreate the interior of Jimi Hendrix's Sixties flat as a permanent museum. Hendrix lived in the attic of 23 Brook Street, a Georgian townhouse, intermittently from the summer of 1968, when he moved in with his then girlfriend Kathy Etchingham, who rented the flat. Along with nearby venues such as the Marquee, the Speakeasy and The Scotch of St James, 23 Brook Street formed the geography of the music scene of late Sixties London. For Hendrix, it was "the only home [he] ever had". via telegraphe.co.uk

Talent Designer x Pretty Green x The Who
I entered to that new design competition for Pretty Green and The Who - have a look at my creation - Hope you like it (so you could maybe vote it and share it to your friends) ! http://bit.ly/1da2wbK Basically, The Who will select from all qualified submissions with special consideration for the top voted entries. One designer will have their artwork interpreted for a t-shirt and sold on Pretty Green's online store. In addition, they will receive: 5% royalty of all t-shirts sold* $2,500 Exposure for their submission across The Who and Pretty Green's official social media channels It's a great opportunity and so decided to create my own piece of cloth. My work takes its inspiration from a rare picture of the band taken in the late 60s. Back in those "swinging days", Medals, badges and other symbols from the british culture were worn by the rocknroll legends Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey,Keith Moon and John "Thunderfingers" Entwistle. Those different patches represent what for me the music of the Who has been giving for years along with cool and iconic Rock N Roll symbols. Check out my portfolio for a closer look of templates !

My Top 10 Tracks Of 2013 - Innovative sounds
Here it is ! Christmas is upon us and we're a just about 3 weeks to go toward 2014 ! 2013 has been a great year on every music level. I wanted to share my top 10 tacks of what I think, these could be the most innovative and tremendous new sounds of 2013. I'm not a big radio listener but I discovered great posts on new musicians/artists through social medias. I found these music quiet inspiring and eclectic and some really cosmic . There will be a few bands to watch out in 2014 as well, but for now :
1. Come Save me - Jagwar Ma. This track has been my hit over the past summer. There's a great groove and psyche vibe to it and will stomp your feet.
2. Loose Sutures - Ty Segall - Recording a few albums every year, Ty Segall came out with a brilliant new heavy psychedelic garage album last month. It makes you feel being wasted in a sweaty rock n roll cave with beers floating in the air
3. Mesmerise - Temples. Seen them playing in my town recently, this is their last single after the mighty Shelter song which came out earlier this year. Their album is coming out next February, watch out !
4. Sandy - Jackson Scott - With this video released last october, Jackson Scott is making nice dreamy lo-fi pop ballad. That song really makes you drifting to a sort of "cosmic wonderland". Cracking chorus
5. Oh my Lord - Steve Mason. Scottish Musician, that Steve Mason single has been quiet unremarked of french stereos. A beautiful melodic song with a nice progression.
6. Queenie Eye - Paul Mccartney - With an incredible bunch of celebrities starring in this video, the music reflects to itself... a catchy chorus with a killer melody, Macca proved that he's still the Don on making Pop music.
7. Big Love - Matthew E White - Domino Record has an amazing portfolio of artists and some of them look hidden ! I came across this big man a few weeks back... His album has a good dynamic range of sounds from experimental, psyche/groove... just a new BIG L♡VE
8. 2020 - Suuns. If you suffer from epilepsy you should go to the next song of this list.
9. I'm The Man That Will Find You - Connan Mokasin - The trembling voice and groove of this music has been on repeat on my player from the past few days. It's just chill and warm on a cold winter
10. Join the Dots - Toy. From the same label as Temples, Toy just came out with a new album recently ! it's the same sauce as a perfect ingredient for your listening. Taking from Hawkwind to Can and Neu, this band made again a solid return before Christmas festivities. Their cosmic sound has been recorded in London

VIDEO: BOOM TOWN – DETROIT IN THE 60S
Tumblr media
Not the longest of videos, but some nice footage and sounds in the five-minute Boom Town – Detroit in the 60s.
It might not be at its best in 2013, but back in the 1960s, Detroit was an industrial powerhouse and more relevantly to us, a musical force too. With both in mind, Levi’s and Aaron Rose have put together this mini movie looking at the cars and the Motown and garage scene in the city, using archive footage and voiceovers from  the likes of garage club owner Grande Ballroom Russ Gibb and Motown musician Dennis Coffey.
As we said, only a short thing, but well worth the five minutes.

After an incredible summer in London, it's good to be home here in Bordeaux... From all the gigs, friends and stuffs discovered over the past few months my aim is now to start anew...
I'm now spending all my time off trying to create/making/writing songs so I've been working hard on new materials in the studio recently.
Here's a first song ''Friendship Has It All" from an EP I will be making later this year, available to download here : https://soundcloud.com/francklada/friendshiphasitall
"The song speaks to itself : "Friendship has it all'' talks about the girl you love but became a close friend ... It's now too late and there's no other way you can change it... I felt that subject quiet relevant nowadays and had to put this in audio frequency. There's a Dylanesque "Tambourine man" vibe to it with a dreamy mood like Neil Young with "After the gold rush"
Hope you like it
Thanks for support ✌

Here is a new poster design I made for an independent film.
It seems like the story keeps on repeating itself on and on again. Ten years ago, in 2003, the UK agreed to attack Iraq partnered with the US. Today, the US and France are hand in hand ready to attack Syria. To better understand what’s currently happening, it’s always important to have a look at the History. That’s what Sam Gull, the director, and Eloise Taylor, the producer, did with ‘Unheard Voices’, a documentary about the relationship between Iraq and Great Britain.
Give a voice to the unheard
With the documentary ‘Unheard Voices’, Sam Gull and Eloise Taylor give a voice to Iraqi people, allowing them to acknowledge the world about their point of view and about what has happened. Most of it is based on their personal story, not the one as seen on CNN or Fox News.
Back in 2003, it was seen as an earthquake when Tony Blair followed the steps of the USA to attack Iraq, whereas France strongly said ‘no’ to war. We didn’t really hear much about the relationship between the United Kingdom and Iraq at the time. That’s why Sam and Eloise decided to learn more about this specific link between the two countries. “I think not many people in the UK know about Britain’s historical relationship with Iraq, I certainly didn’t”, explains the producer, Eloise Taylor. “When I learnt that Britain occupied Baghdad in 1917 and that Iraq officially became a British colony in 1920, it changed the way I saw Britain’s involvement in the occupation of Iraq in 2003. In 2003, I understood Iraq through the presentation in the media. Learning the history of Britain’s relationship with Iraq allowed me to understand the 2003 invasion better, that aspect of Britain’s relationship with Iraq in the twentieth century can have been repeated throughout history.”
Personal lives in perspective
The most important and valuable interest about this documentary resides in the testimonies of Iraqi people. They got in touch with them thanks to the courtesy of the Elderly Iraqi Club in London. “All the people we met at the Elderly Iraqi Club were very welcoming and willing to talk to us.  Some people did not want to have their conversations recorded”, adds Eloise. “I think after spending quite a bit of time with the group, they were open to us and politely put up, with us coming again and again to ask them more questions! I think they appreciated the fact that it was an important topic for us and generously helped us by sharing their experiences on the matter.”
If today Syria is the main subject of fear and interest around the world, Iraq is still not a place to live peacefully, despite the war in 2003 who led to the fall of Saddam Hussein. “They all have different visions of Iraq now, but generally they fear for the lives of their families and friends who still live in Iraq. Iraq was rated the most dangerous country by the Global Peace Index in 2013. People that I spoke to seemed unhappy with the current government in Iraq they felt they do not represent the interests of the people”, explains Eloise Taylor.
Oil war
If everyone now agrees that the reason to invade Iraq in 2003 was a lie, the real war is still ongoing. Oil is still at the heart of all greed. “What really surprised me was the comment of one of the interviewees about the difficulties Iraqis currently face in buying oil in Iraq on a daily basis”, reveals Eloise. “Despite having the second largest oil reserves, Iraqis have to queue for hours to buy oil. When we asked him if he thought oil was a curse on Iraq he said yes, that it had led and is still causing conflict in his country without any benefits to the domestic population.”
It took Sam Gull and Eloise Taylor over a year to achieve ‘Unheard Voices’. Now the documentary is ready to be seen, they are showing it on various community, cultural and arts centres in and around London. “The screenings are free, everybody is more than welcome to attend”, insists Eloise Taylor. The next viewings are taking place on the 10th of September at the Brady Arts Centre at 6.30pm (192-196 Hanbury Street, London E1 5HU) and on Thursday 12th September, 2013 at 7pm at the London Action Resource Center (L.A.RK, 62 Fieldgate St  London E1 1ES).
