Desperate to assert some semblance of authority following the Honor Duel debacle, Elhokar declares that he will be personally managing the Uritheru expedition and insists on accompanying Shallan and co.

When the bridge collapses, it’s Elhokar, not Shallan, who ends up stranded with Kaladin. They must, of course, make their way back through the chasms together.

How I feel about this character: My love, my darling, my sweet babboo, the apple of my eye and the lemon in my larynx, somewhere in my youth or childhood I must have done something good.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Shallan, Kaladin, Jakamav before things went to shit, Yanagawn. Fewer people than his slutty reputation would suggest.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: He and Renarin make such a good set. A bit like Boromir and Faramir, you'd think a contrast like that would be ripe for resentment, but nope! I truly believe that if Adolin had known about Dalinar referring to Renarin as "the other one" or "the invalid" at any point, even in his own thoughts, it would have come to blows, and when Renarin finds out about Adolin's leg you just know there's gonna be some variation on "I should have been there!" and it's gonna be delicious.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I never, ever want him to become a Radiant in canon. I know some people think he just needs to "see the value in making the right oaths" or whatever, but I think it's really thematically important to have this character whose personal conception of honor is conscious and wary of oaths, especially in the context of oaths being a major cultural sticking point and the basis for real, tangible supernatural power. I do admittedly love it in fic, but I'm really glad Sanderson introduced the Unoathed as a thematic counterpart.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I know that it makes perfect sense for it to be the armor spren that make up the prosthetic leg, but I kind of wish it was Maya, if only because "spinning back kicks with a shardblade" is exactly the kind of impossibly flashy, insanely impractical stylistic flourish this anime-ass series needs, and Adolin Kholin is exactly the man to give it to us.
