what art supplies do you use??
Hi!
Thank you so much for asking Anon, idk if my answer will live up to the expectations tho :')
I mostly use litterally anything I get my hands on, so it's nothing "high quality".
I use a mechanical pencil for the sketches, but it's mostly because I don't like sharpening pencils lol. It's an HB, i know technically I should be using something less heavy like an 2H, but I think whatever fits best in your hand is the way to go.
For the lineart I use a gel ink pen, again it doesn't have to be one of the super expensive fancy ones, I personally like the texture of the ink (and my hands are too shaky to do the fine lineart with watercolor lol)
For the colours like 90% percent of the drawings on my blog are watercolour. I would honestly tell you what brand they are, but unfortunately it's watercolors we've had in our house for the last ten years or something, the box is lost, there's no brand symbols or anything on them, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were out of production :')
But like I said before, it's nothing necessary professional or specific, I use them because it's what I have and they have a decent amount of colours.
These are the main things? Sometimes I use markers, but again, it's not professional stuff, it's random bits I find around the house, I'm pretty use the black marker I use to make some of my stuff I suppose to be used on GLASS, I use a red gel pen for the some of the red bits, and even correction fluid for highlights because I am consistently out of white paint :b
Visual proof of crappy art supplies just in case sfhdgdhd

Update on the essay for those who are interested: I'm almost done with the research on marble hornets that I needed, and I'm almost done with the introduction for it, I need to write a decent conclusion and then I'll do the introduction on the Oedipus rex before I start the comparison between the two >:D
I know my text posts never get any attention but Imma try anyway Marble hornets fandom I need you to be like, alive and receptive ok PLEASE

So, I'm a classical literature student, and we just got done studying and analysing Sophocles's Oedipus rex, which if you don't know, is like THE greek tragedy. And for the two/three weeks of studying, all I could think of each time we went over a different theme in the oedipus rex was FUCK!! ITS IN MARBLE HORNETS TOO!! So now im panickingly attempting to write down an essay kind of where it's just me yapping about how the same themes are found/portrayed in MH and the Oedipus Rex because to me it's just so cool and fun that a greek tragedy from 430-420 b.C. and a web series from 2009 have so much in common.
I'm thinking of submitting this to my Greek literature teacher when/if I get it done, and I was thinking of posting it too but it depends if anyone's gonna read it or not :(

I saw your post about Oedipus Rex and Marble Hornets, and even though I don't quite remember what happens in Oedipus, I'm very intrigued by your essay theme!
((Basically, I'd like to read it))
Anon I love you so much-
I'll try to include a summary of both marble hornets and oedipus in the essay thingy so hopefully anyone who knows at least one of the two can read it without feeling too confused about the other one but I'm SO GLAD someone is interested in this because no one I know irl knows what the hell MH is and Oedipus for my classmates Oedipus is schoolwork, not something to spend time and thoughts on in our free time, so I can't really show it to them (will I force them anyway? yes)
I'LL DO MY BEST WRITING IT I PROMISE YOU

Some more cosplay and actual photos I took. I plan to come out to the forest again to take cool pictures in cosplay but I haven’t gotten around to that yet.

Hi there!! I talked about your blog with a friend of mine, I mostly follow you because your whole blog is the best motivation to study to ever exists, but he's actually interested in pursuing chemistry, so. If you have the time, I have a question from me and one from him:
-tips on learning/memorising chemical nomenclature? I didn't study it well last year and now my mistake has come back to haunt me :')
-he's curious about work opportunities related to chem :p
Thank you a lot for everything you do<3
Hi! Wow, thank you so much for the kind words <3
Nomenclature can be a pain bc it's pretty much only memorization, but on the other hand if you just manage to remember a handful of rules, you can name nearly any compound that you'll come across as a student.
I think what worked best for me was to memorize one rule at a time, by doing exercises. For example, if I wanted to learn the nomenclature of alkanes, I'd focus on this one particular group of compounds and I'd just solve as many problems on their naming as I could; then I'd move on to another group. This method was as painless to me as memorization can be 😅
I also think it's a good habit to try to name every compound that pops up as you study, even if you don't need to do it (i.e. the exercise you're working on doesn't ask you to do it). That gives you some extra practice and you can stop doing it when you feel confident enough in this skill.
With common names, sometimes I find it helpful to know where the name comes from - no idea how that works, but somehow knowing the name formic acid comes from the word formica which means ant - bc it naturally occurs in ants - made it stick. When that fails, I just revert to flashcards and spaced repetition.
As for job opportunities, I answered a related (but not exactly the same) question here. I'm doing a bachelor's rn and hoping to do a master's too, so I don't know much about job prospects yet, but I think it's safe to say it depends heavily on the country. It's well-known you have to be genuinely dedicated to land a good job in STEM here where I live, but my stance hasn't changed since that ask I linked above: if you're curious, passionate, and really, truly want to do chemistry, I believe it's worth it to take that risk.
All the best to you and your friend!
[I have a chemistry asks tag if he's interested 👀]

Been especially passionate about Marble Hornets lately so here's some thoughts that people have probably talked about before.
I love the message Marble Hornets makes about mental illness. I was watching an essay about villains, and it mentioned how the final battle between an antagonist and a protagonist in a story is about the clashing of two beliefs, and which character wins defines which belief triumphs, and this got me thinking.
Alex represents the belief that living with an illness, whether mental or physical is not worth it. Instead you should either just give in, or end it. But Tim represents that no matter how much pain you are in, and will be in, no matter how much hell you have to go through, and even though you might never ever be free of this illness, it's possible and worth living with.
I mean, even the only two confirmed surviving characters happened to be the characters that reached out and got help from medical professionals.
