gentle reminder that the direct impact you have in your community will always yield more immediate benefits for those around you and for yourself than any far reaching, especially global or international plight.

Yes, small things can have big impacts when, done by many many people.

But also the chance of anything I, an Australian, can do on my own to help people immediately impacted by things happening in California or Germany or Mexico is very small.

What I can do is give regular financial aid to a woman in Naarm. I can visit my local library. I can go to a local market and buy art by local artists. I don’t see when someone hops the train. I can join a craft guild and get to know my neighbours. I bring bins in from the kerb for my apartment block. I can offer my house as a place for people to crash. I can teach a community class on mending clothes.

All these things provide tangible benefit to those around me And myself. Both by giving myself a noticeable sense of fulfilment and building community so others can do the same for me when I’m in need.

Wearing yourself thin on a million global issues in a thousand different places doesn’t really help anyone. Be kind to yourself, look small. We’ve got this.

Invest in your community now and where you can. Resist and fight back in whatever way you can. Whether that’s joining the boycott on target or TikTok, sharing useful information with others, showing up to local protests or just simply voting in the local elections that will be coming up in 2026.

The best way to resist is to live, dance, laugh, find and build community. Love is just as much of a revolutionary act as punching fascist. It takes all types

I've never been the patriotic sort. But I have love for the land and the people who live here.

It has been 5 days since Trump's inauguration, and there's already a ridiculous amount of damage. Not to mention future damage to the climate. So, to my fellow Americans, no matter race, gender, sexuality, citizenship, or political affiliation: fight back. Learn first-aid, engage in your community to build support systems, get involved with your local government, bear arms if you must. Whatever happens, keep going. If nothing else, keep living.

And, you know what? Be petty. Say "thanks, TRUMP" if prices raise. Say "thanks, TRUMP" next time a pastor becomes a sex offender. Blame him.

Stop. Please stop shopping fast fashion and learn to reuse and refurbish. If you need new clothes go to a local thrift store or trade with a neighbor or friend.

The only way we can make a change and not end up in a Cyberpunk dystopian nightmare is if we come together and build not only a stronger sense class solidarity but COMMUNITY. They cannot take that away from us and it’s the only way we can effectively unplug from funding this madness.

Please remember intersex people during these next 4 years. To support and worry about us too, not just perisex trans people. Intersex people are fully affected by the idea of "only male and female allowed" laws. Intersex people are affected by anti trans laws even if not all of us are trans. Many of us can't pass or hide our features, similar to how some trans people can't. We (the systems body) for example are physically incapable of passing as "cis" unless we get surgeries and hormones which still wouldn't change the fact we're intersex. We can't blend in, we get clocked as "queer looking" no matter what we wear or how we act. Don't forget about us when making posts about protecting trans and queer people. - ❔️

I think a lot of the reason there's not been a ton of big solarpunk-style media is because it's inherently utopian and that leads to a real lack of conflict. Which is a shame that there's not a lot, because I LOVE how Solarpunk looks! But A lot of it is very big-scale from what I've seen; theorizing about ways man can integrate technology with nature, but not really what man is actually doing after that. What are the kinds of lives people would live in a solarpunk city? Surely actual human stories don't simply end because a lot of our needs are met. There's gotta be something!!
