BUT

THEY HAVE 12 MONTHS TO FIGURE OUT HOW THIS IS GOING TO BE MANAGED! 12 MONTHS IS A YEAR! THIS COULD BE TIME TO TRY AND REVOKE THIS OR PROTEST AGAINST IT TO NOT LET IT BE IMPLEMENTED THEN- HOPEFULLY!

This is not for kids' online safety.

They are asking us to give our IDs- that's PERSONAL information that if taken by the wrong hands can have detrimental consequences.

once they go through with this we are going to be forced into giving our ids to social media apps to prove our age- which is a risk to safety

and ofc- the teens protesting online will be silenced and every teen will lose access to safe spaces and other info

theyre acting like this is for kids safety- exactly like how kosa was being advertised

Like- the social media ban, im old enough to not be banned, right?

However. It means everyone must put their IDs in to have a social media account.

I do not know where my ID is. I know my parents have it.

If i take it, my parents will know I have some sort of social media.

And beyond that.

They want us to put our ID in? To access social media? Like, HOLY SHIT dude. NO.

Leaks happen. Hacks happen. What will happen if someone hacks in and steals our fuckin ID???

Its a complete privacy risk, and an invasion of privacy. I do NOT want my irl name linked to this account.

After several posts about the Australia social media ban, I have concluded that fucking hell US Americans are assholes. 90% of you are amazing but like the other 10% was like “this doesn’t matter”, “it doesn’t affect anyone actually”, “why would I care” and one memorable “no one lives in Australia anyone so it’s not a loss”

This is why trump won, up your ass you pricks have a lovely time in the worst country on earth.

I think it’s so funny that when America faced KOSA (and still does) that we did not hear the end of it online, but now that Australia is implementing a complete social media ban for under 16 year olds that will likely require a ID to verify, I’ve seen like 2 posts.

"Teens need to know how to be safe online" and "Teens shouldn't be banned from online spaces because they're the only places some of them feel safe" can and should co-exist by the way.

Be aware: Australia is likely implementing a bill similar to KOSA. However it is a complete ban for social media for under 16 year olds. Raise awareness about this like you did for KOSA.
