I look from the puppy, to Hades, to Persephone over and over again, trying to process the absurdity of this birthday gift. Zeus, trying to dick me over? Yeah, I could see that. I taunt the bastard a lot when there's thunder and lightning. Before I could believe that, though, I had to wrestle that the Greek gods were real, that Hades and Persephone were my godparents, and I was now the proud owner of a three-headed good boy. Good girl, I didn't see a penis when they handed her over.

"Umm," I muttered. "What does she eat?"

"Kibble will suffice," Hades said.

"She's also housebroken, and knows how to sit," Persephone offered.

"Any chance my house will burn down when she--"

"No!" they said in unison.

"Well, that's good. What about vets?" I asked.

"If it's an emergency clap your hands on the ground twice. Otherwise, my better half will examine her every spring," Hades said.

I turned my gaze back to the puppy, three sets of big brown eyes looked back at me. I could feel her tail twitching in my arms as she tried in vain to wag it, stuck as it was under her weight and my arm. How the hell--Underworld?--was I going to take care of this cutie!

Don't usually share things from other Final Fantasy games, but this gave me chills.

This rendition of the Hymn of the Fayth being performed in an actual church by a group of singers needs way more attention. It sounds absolutely stunning and haunting at the same time!

It might also be possible that I am looking too deeply into this. Maybe the nature of Light and Darkness is no more than a balancing of the scales. Maybe those who bear the Blessing of Light are no more than people with strong wills that are capable of great things.

Either way, it is important that you take the time to let yourself experience the Light and Darkness in your own life. Change when it is time to change, stabilize when it is time to stabilize. Take life at your own pace and remember that there is a time and place for everything.

There can be no darkness without light, and no light without darkness. The two balance each other, but are also found within each other. But what does this mean for those of us with the Blessing of Light? Are those with the Blessing agents of stagnation and stability?

I would argue that we are not. In fact, I believe that we are, instead, blessed with either to Light or Darkness as the world needs. Sometimes, the world needs things to stay the same, and so we bring that to the places that need them. Other times, there is a drastic change that needs to be made, and so we are Blessed to be that change.

There are a few places in recent history where both sides of this can be seen. The first is the assault on Castrum Meridianum, where those Blessed by Light fought to keep Eorzea free from Imperial rule. Another can be seen by our efforts in Garlemald, where the Light's Blessed fought to stabilize the Empire by changing their quality of life.

Every summer I look forward to the cries of sorrow, panic, and triumph when adventurers try to climb the tower. Five summers ago I climbed the tower and earned for myself the title of Eorzean Ninja Warrior. I wish them luck, but hopefully there won't be anything broken like there was last year.
