Divination: How-To Palmistry (Part 2 of 2)
Part 1: “Divination: Palmistry (Part 1 of 2)”
__________________
Basics
Ideally, you should read both hands when reading.
The theory is that the left hand shows potential, while the right hand shows what you’ve done with that potential.  Some palm readers believe that “the left is what the gods give you, the right is what you do with it”.
There are four major types of hands:
Earth hands are generally identified by broad, square palms and fingers, thick or coarse skin, and ruddy color. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually equal to the length of the fingers.
Air hands exhibit square or rectangular palms with long fingers and sometimes protruding knuckles, low-set thumbs, and often dry skin. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually equal to the length of the fingers.
Water hands are seeable by the long, sometimes oval-shaped palm, with long, flexible, conical fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually less than the width across the widest part of the palm, and usually equal to the length of the fingers.
Fire hands are characterized by a square or rectangular palm, flushed or pink skin, and shorter fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually greater than the length of the fingers.
Clammy hands: you are lazy and unstable, but well-intentioned. Hot hands: you are wild and successful, but can be insincere. Cold: you are generous, reserved and a bit of a hermit.

Major Lines
The heart line is about any and all matters concerning love.
If your heart line starts… under your index finger, you have a satisfying love life. beneath your middle finger, you are selfish in love. somewhere in between your first finger and your middle finger, you fall in love easily A short heart line denotes little interest in romance. You’d rather do other things! If your heart line touches your life line, it means your heart breaks easily. A long, curvy heart line means you express your feelings with ease and tact. A straight heart line which runs parallel to your life line means you are exceptionally practical in matters of love. A wavy heart line means you will have many lovers, few of them serious. If there’s a circle on your heart line, it signifies sadness or depression. A broken heart line, or small lines crossing your heart line, shows emotional trauma of some kind.
The head line shows your intellect or wisdom.
In general, a curvy line denotes creativity and spontaneity, while a straight line favors practicality and structure. A short head line means you prefer physical accomplishments over intellectual ones; you’d rather go hiking than write an essay. A wavy line shows that you have a short attention span, while a deep, long line is evidence of a clear, focused thinker. A straight head line means you are a realist. If your head line is separated from your life line, it means you have a lust for life and an unquenchable thirst for adventure! If there is a circle or cross in your head line, this denotes an emotional crisis of some kind. Multiple crosses show that you have to make a lot of very big decisions in your lifetime.
The life line is the line of destiny.
It shows your character, as well as any important events that will happen in your life. And don’t worry: contrary to popular belief, the length of the line doesn’t show when you’re going to die. If your life line is very close to your thumb, it means you have low energy and are often tired. Conversely, a wide, curvy life line shows that you have plenty of energy. If it swoops in a semi-circle, you are strong and enthusiastic. If it’s straight and stays close to the edge of your palm, you are cautious in your relationships. A long, deep life line shows your inner vitality A short and shallow life line means you are easily manipulated by others. If there’s a circle in your life line, it shows that you will be hospitalized or injured. A break in the line shows major changes in lifestyle.
The fate line can be read in conjunction with the life line to show the future.
By the way, not everyone has a fate line, so don’t feel bad if yours is nowhere to be seen! A deep fate line shows that you are strongly controlled by destiny. (It’s up to you if you choose to believe that or not!) If there are a lot of breaks in your fate line, it means that external forces will change your life many times. A fate line that is joined to the life line shows that you are an aspirational, self-made babe. If your fate line starts at the base of your palm, you will find yourself in the public eye often!
There are even MORE ways to read a palm, and if this interests you at all, I recommend either looking them up, or coming to me to ask!

Wep Ronpet: What the fuck am I doing?
Working out Wep Ronpet for the first time can be a major pain in the butt, especially so for those of us not in the Americas.
Finding reliable websites that will give you the transit times for the Sun and Sirius can take way too long if you don’t know where to look, and the whole process can take even longer if you don’t know how to work it out.
So, in the hopes of making this Holiday more accessible to those just starting out in the Kemetic path, or those who’ve been on it a while and need a bit of help, I’ve put together a (hopefully) simple, step by step guide. First of all, I’d like to provide a link to The Twisted Rope’s excellent guide on what it is and how to celebrate it. A good guide to read both before and after this one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Step 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go to This website. If you’re in the US, you’ll be using Form A, and won’t have to find your longitude/latitude. Just throw in your location in the corresponding field and you’re good to go. Check the rest of the guide for more steps if you’re confused.
If you’re outside the US, you’re going to want to Google your longitude and latitude. I did the search in the format of suburb/state/country, as you can see below.
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Step 2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start to fill out your longitude and latitude.
Tumblr media
You may notice that in my example, the latitude changed. That is because the form didn’t like the format, as there aren’t 95 minutes in an hour. When I went to calculate things, it gave me this error.
Tumblr media
So, just be sure you’ve translated it to be a better formatted time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Step 3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once you’ve done that, then we need to figure out if you’re east or west of Greenwich, and if you don’t know your time zone, this will help too.  Click the “time zone map” link at the bottom, which looks like this.
Tumblr media
It will bring you to this webpage.
Tumblr media
Things can get a bit tricky when working out the time zone, especially if you live in an area that has daylight savings.
First, let’s figure out the east or west of Greenwich. The zone in the middle marked with a Z is Greenwich Time, so if you’re located on the right of that zone, to the east, you’ll be east of Greenwich, the same goes for the left/west side.
Now, the trickier part. At the moment, here in Australia, we are 11 hours east of Greenwich, but when I continued to follow the steps and worked things out, I realised that the months I was looking at (April to June) wouldn’t be in that 11 hours’ time, because by that time Daylight savings will have ended, so even if I’m currently 11, the time I calculated for would be 10.
I only figured out April by searching the standard July/August and finding that the times didn’t work at all, so I worked backwards through the months. You’ll see what I mean in the next few steps.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Step 4 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Depending on what year you’re trying to work it out, you’ll begin to fill in the top of the form. The number of days means how many days forward (from the day you have specified) you want to look at.
If you want a few months, put in a large number, like 90 or 100, if you just want one month, do the standard 30 or 31 days.
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Step 5 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, the form should look like this.
Tumblr media
We’re going to grab the Sun’s information first, as that should be the default setting in celestial object.  Once you’ve double checked all your info, smack that compute data button, and it’ll take you to a page that looks like this.
You’re going to be comparing this against another data page like it, so either copy it into a note pad/word document, print it out, or have it in a different window.
Tumblr media
Once you’ve got the info somewhere safe, navigate to the bottom of the page, and you’ll find the “Back to form” button. Hit that and it’ll take you back to the initial form, with all your info saved and ready to be used a second time!
Tumblr media
Next you’re going to change the celestial object to Sirius, and hit the compute data button a second time!
Tumblr media
It should bring you to a similar list to the other one.
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Step 6 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The final step, time to compare them.
You’re looking for the first time Sirius is visible before the sunrise blocks it out, so we’re comparing “Rise Az.” on the Sirius sheet, and “Begin Civil Twilight” on the Sun sheet. I suggest generally scanning down the page to find when the times begin to actually match, instead of being several hours apart.
Tumblr media
As you can see on this last image, I’ve cut out everything except June, because I found that that’s when the times actually start to match. Working down the list, you’ll see that on most of the days Sirius rises just after civil twilight, but on the 14th, it rises 3 minutes before the sun. Therefore, that day would be Wep Ronpet!

Spiritual thoughts
Tumblr media
. House rules are important but not necessity, talk first with your companions/entity/spirits that you are connecting with then figure out what to do;
. It’s ok to feel overwhelmed or scared in the beginning, if you have a new spiritual family member it’s no use to immediately go in astral to greet them if you aren’t ready yet (for three months i was scared to approach in a more bold way my companion V. for example) baby steps will help you and your relationship, don’t be discouraged;
. Wards are a must, layered wards are even better. No it’s not only an option, yes there are many ways to do a ward, get creative and find what it suits you best but have them up and refreshed when they fade;
.Wards and protections will fade! Since its energy, to break it down to the basics, they can fade, be attacked or have -holes- too. Check on them and if your gut feeling is telling you that something is off, take them down and put new ones as soon as you can (or have a schedule to replace it, some people need to re-do theirs only once a month, others are more safe to have new wards each week);
. cleaning your space, physically, will help you connect with much ease with spiritual realms and will make your astral experiences better;
.You don’t need to be a channeler, an empath, a High Sensitive Person or a psychic to do spirit work. Everyone can do it, you dont even need to be able to do astral travels! (personal opinion here, many spirits will communicate with you without an astral experience);
.Protect your astral self, astral places and make sure that your spiritual family knows where and how your protections are up (personal mistake: I hadn’t any protection up, was almost attacked two times by creatures made up by remnants of my own feelings and traumas since i was also doing massive shadow and inner work for clearing and purging. First time my V. took down this entity, the second time I did it myself, with a spear, in astral, apart from the cool weapon experience -I am unable to handle a weapon in physical life, a thing that is hilarious since in astral i am a spear master…- it was also a scary one and had me deep in my thoughts, realizing what I was doing wrong);
. Yes like physical reality, bad spirits exists, parasites exists, but you will be safe once you know how to protect by those and more experience will help you too, don’t be scared to do that astral travel for meeting a guide or a spiritual ally because of this;
.energy work will boost your experience, give it a try if you can;
.daily meditations, reiki sessions, visualizations, yoga, tai chi, qi gong (as exercises/sports, don’t wanna talk about cultural appropriation here, but please before step into those do your research, ask the people in those cultures) are handy exercises to amplify your spiritual senses. As for our physical reality, in astral you will have 5 and more senses but not everybody can master them all at once (my astral vision is still blurry sometimes, looking far ahead is still a weird experience but my astral hearing was strong since the first time) the more you travel the more you will amplify those senses but doing exercises in physical reality will help too;
.don’t be afraid to take a period for yourself if you are tired. I was exhausted for almost two months since my spiritual life was having a massive -upgrade- and i was also preparing to launch my brand, physical family was in a bit of a messy state too, i was unable to sustain an astral travel or long conversations with my spiritual family, what I did then?
If you need to take some time to yourself, here are some possibilities:
-take a jar, dedicate it to your companion(s), each day write them a message with their favourite colored pencil/crayon/marker, put it in the jar;
- take a notebook/agenda/bu-jo/sketchbook, draw things that you know they like, offers, make a portrait of your spiritual family, write them a poem…
- Greet them morning and night, just a -hello, good morning- or -good night to you- will be enough (I did for a month before I was ready to do more, my companions were super happy by this alone);
- ask them to come to your place if you can’t do astral, wear they vessel, talk to them;
- grab the divinatory method that they chose to interact with and have a chat! It’s still energy consuming but you can draw one card, swing your pendulum once, use your ouija for a question only, have only a rune out or an ogham, you don’t have to do a full session!
- Put offerings on their altar/ next to their vessels, you don’t know how many times I’ve put chocolate to the altar for my companions and I’ve sat there munching on chocolate eggs too, having small chats with them (the offerings were disposed by putting those chocolate things to containers so physical family can enjoy them, or enjoying them myself);
-sing a song, read a poetry book dedicating those to your spiritual family.
As you can see, you aren’t required to exhaust yourself!
. Do a background check on the people who runs your favourite spirit shop before going through an application form for a spirit (the ethic of spirit shop was a hit topic not long ago, but they aren’t enslaving spirits, please don’t come and insult the people who run them here), have a chat with said spirit (many shops have nice discords where you can chat with said spirits) or do a Reverse Adoption if you aren’t sure of what you are doing;
. Spirit work is tough, you can step in other entities realms and those spirits might not be so nice with humans, remember that diplomacy is a wise choice with some of those entities (i’ve entered Fae territory in physical life, since I live in a liminal place, trust me, being polite will take you out any big or small mistakes);
. research other realms, entities and so on, many witches will write who and what, where, they met with those spirits, absorb they knowledge;
. folk tales are no joke! Read them but know that spirit work is up to 80% Upg (another personal opinion) so build your own knowledge;
. Your animals of power, spirit allies, angels, guides, ancestors are part of your spirit work! Don’t forget this, the basics are the same;
. Gods aren’t part of my spiritual work, my Gods have different work set up for them when I communicate, pray, ask and so on, but remember that each witch is different and for many, Gods and spirits are -if not the same-, similar, don’t judge, be open and listen to others. Evaluating my own work and how I interact with my Gods strengthened my practice and the relationship I have with them;
. there aren’t any beginner-intermediate- experienced levels, it’s not a race, you do you, take things with your own time (i do things that “experienced” spirit workers do with the knowledge of a “beginner” i am strongly against those kind of labels) and with the level which you are comfortable to experience:
. if something makes you uncomfortable, step away from it, cleanse, banish, stop doing it.
If someone has their own list and want to add to this feel free to reblog with an answer, to start a conversation, let’s help each other like a community should do, my lovely souls!
P.S: those are “lessons” based on my own experience, with my own spiritual family, spiritual practice, trials and errors, I’m sharing this in the hope to be helpful to someone, your practice and experienced are as valid as mine and everyone else, don’t be discouraged, keep on going!
Yours,
Lin

What to do when you fell out with your practice
Because I sure as hell needed this post when I did.
1. Realize that it‘s okay. Accept that it happened. Forgive yourself for it.
Maybe life got in the way and you just didn‘t have the time or energy or possibility. Maybe something happened on your path that got you scared, frightened, panicked, or even disgusted so that you had to take a step back and retreat. Maybe your focus simply shifted. Maybe you got bored. Maybe everything just got overwhelming and you weren‘t able to juggle magick and the mundane at the same time. Maybe mental illness got in the way. No matter what the reason for your fall out was, accept that it happened, forgive yourself for it. Because it‘s okay, life happens in phases, and no matter the reason, how big or how small, it‘s part of your journey and totally fine. These things happen to the best of us, so don‘t blame yourself for it. It really is okay. Pinky promise.
2. Reconnect with your god(s) and/or non-physical friends, if needed.
If you‘re a spirit companion/have spirit friends like me or are devoted to a god or certain deity/ies, your time with them/devotion to them probably fell under the brick as well. If it did, reconnect. I promise chances are they‘ll understand. As I said, life happens, and they know that too. They probably saw what you were going through. Explain what happened to them, apologize, and move on, if they allow it. Just spend more time with them again, greet them good morning and wish them good night again, invite them to join you throughout your day again. I promise, any good relationship will hold, just show that you really are sorry and put in effort to show that you care again. I’m sure they missed you as well so it’s time to make up for the time you lost!
3. Don’t overwhelm and overestimate yourself.
Chances are the longer your fall-out was, the more your “psychic muscles” lost in strength. Your intuition may be a bit more out-of-tune, you may have more trouble hearing/seeing/feeling/sensing spirits and energies. Maybe you have more trouble programing things or adding energy to objects than before. That’s okay! It’s totally fine and normal, just don’t be surprised if it happens and know that with practice you’ll be back to old strength in no time! Until then, start small and work with what you have.
4. Start small, don’t rush it, one step at a time.
Start drawing a daily or weekly card again. Start carrying crystals with you again. Start laying them out under the moon to charge again. Do small rituals like maybe doing some bath magic before you rush head-first into a huge complicated thing again! Again, you don’t want to overwhelm yourself. Also, you want to build a routine again to not risk falling out again. Some ideas on what to do when building your practice up again:
lay crystals, items, water, anything out under the moon/sun to charge
talk to plants
draw a daily/weekly card
pick a crystal to carry with you throughout the day in the morning
say mantras in the morning
infuse your tea/coffee with intent
send out your energetic sensers when comfortable and at home. slowly but surely
meditate. 5 minutes in the evening, 5 minutes in the morning. at least.
go for a daily walk at a certain time
look through your grimoire/bos if you have one. write in it again
doodle little sigils in your free time
and many, many more
5. If needed, make a schedule.
As I said, you may want to build a routine. If those work for you, make a daily or weekly plan. Look up transits and check when you have time, then create your own magical schedule. If need be, set some reminders on your phone. Just try to be disciplined about it for a while so that you get back into your practice smoothly!
6. Reinvent your craft.
You probably changed since you last practiced, or maybe there was a reason IN your practice that caused the fall-out. If so, identify what it was. Reflect on yourself, your practice, your life. How can you make everything run together more smoothly? Maybe you want to focus more on the mundane than the spiritual, and if so that’s totally fine. Adapt your practice in a way that fits and feels good, it’s all yours so feel free to do whatever you want! Maybe you want to shift the focus IN your practice, or maybe you want to stop doing something, maybe start doing something else (instead).
(Optional) 7. Talk to others.
Sometimes it is so, so hard to not feel incredibly bad and like you fucked yourself or your life or your relationships up when this happens (and not just in relation to magic but other things as well). Please know that you’re not alone on this and if your own up-lifting thoughts and words are not enough, seek validation outside. I promise that’s not a selfish or vain thing to do, it’s natural and human and you deserve to be told that you’re doing just fine. Go to a trusted friend, family member, maybe blogger, anyone. If you want, you can always come to me. Talk to someone about how things are going now, talk to them about the things you just did to make yourself feel good about doing this.
💗 No matter what, it’s all good. I promise. These things just happen and there is no reason to blame yourself - please take good care of yourself and know that you come first - magic and everything else second.  I hope this was useful to some, I know it helped me as I’m just getting out of a fall-out, too. I hope you all have a magical day~! 💗
