She...
She is sunny one minute
Next she is cloudy rain
Laughter infinite
Then she seems to be in pain.
I look into her eyes
To see the edges of her soul
But all that I can spy
Is my beating heart which she stole.

Some events might happen, that question your faith. In God, if you are a believer. In morality, if you believe in the goodness of human spirit. The question is, will it break you down, your spirit and your psyche until all you are left with is your despair? Or will you be able to inch your way up that slippery abyss up into whatever sunshine is left? We are human. Our will is breakable. Our solutions may not be foolproof. Our decisions may not be correct. Our speech may falter, our gaze may lower. We might do things that given a second chance, we might not repeat. But we are human. We feel with others. We help them if they are in need. We love people, for whom we are ready to move mountains. We share despair, sadness and happiness of others, at least of those who are close to us. Is not that what is important? What we achieve in life is the sum total of our actions. Our true worth is measured not in terms of what we own, but what we are willing to give. We leave indelible marks, good or bad on others because of our actions.
We are human. We are lucky to be human. We are lucky to feel, to love and to be loved. Keep that thought in the back of your mind. It might just hold you together, it might just keep you whole.

A Deep Sense of Longing
It happens in the privacy of your mind. At school. In college. At work. The way they happen is the same. Everytime. Very little knowledge about a person, but a strong pull towards a part of his or her character traits and of course, his or her looks. This, combined with a deep sense you have, of knowing them, and the wishful thinking that they too would, if only circumstances favoured you.
It has been going on since the teenage years and even now, when you should know better, it happens.
These crushes, these by-products, of feelings unrequited, of imaginations unrestrained, they show you your capacity of making the very most out of small details. A wrist, a glimmer in the eyes, a few strands of hair, a neck, they make you think of entire lives spent together, full of meaning, with that person. This special person will understand you, you are certain. Your small idiosyncrasies, your quirks, the crazy parts inside you that you hide with so much effort, will resonate with them, you think. All the secret, ignored, parts within you will blossom.
This innate ability you have of expanding a whole personality and character with a few glimpses of what another person shows you is what makes crushes so delightful and, at the same time, foolish.
Cynics say it is madness, this projection of qualities onto a person, this filling in of the blanks, that it is a reckless fantasy.
Maybe the red framed spectacles she wears does really mean that she is effervescent, energetic, intelligent, and delicate. But the error of the crush lies in going beyond that insight, that it is the only side to her. That it is the whole truth about her. Because as a rule, you all are to some degree, crazy. Not deranged stalker style crazy, but the small voice in you coaxing you to do as you please, not giving a shit about the way society looks at you. Everyone has something substantially wrong with them. Everyone is hard to Iive with, to some degree. A crush overlooks this fact.
But that doesn’t mean you have to give up on crushes, at any age. Just that you would be better off if you did not believe in more than what they appear to promise. There is no perfect woman or man. You simply glimpsed some good sides of them, coming to the fore. That shows that you have a good heart too. And that is what is more important.

Songs of our Forefathers
I was listening to an old movie song and was struck by how it transcended times, places and beliefs. It went something like this :
Manushyan Mathangale Srishtichu Mathangal Daivangale Srishtichu Manushyanum Mathangalum Daivangalum Kudi Mannu Pankuvachu Manassu Pankuvachu
Man created Religion
Religion created God
Man, Religion and God together
Divided Lands
Divided Minds
Some great lines there and sung beautifully by Yesudas Sir.
The language is Malayalam. Spoken in Kerala, which is a state in the south of India, it also has the uniqueness of being the only language name which is a palindrome.

Lone females retreated to isolated nesting boxes on penthouse levels. Other males, a group Calhoun termed “the beautiful ones,” never sought sex and never fought—they just ate, slept, and groomed, wrapped in narcissistic introspection. Elsewhere, cannibalism, and violence became endemic. Mouse society had collapsed.

Breathtaking Aerial Photos of New York City at Night Captured From 7,500 Feet
Renowned French American photographer Vincent Laforet embarked on the photo mission of a lifetime when he soared 7,500 feet in a helicopter above New York City to capture breathtaking aerial photos of the glittering cityscape at night. Held in only by a full-body harness, leaning out of the chopper over a dizzying expanse of darkness and tiny pinpoints of light, the photographer says his experience was “both exhilarating and terrifying” and “the scariest… and the most beautiful” flight of his career.
Titled Gotham 7.5K, the photos were shot on assignment for Men’s Health Magazine for an article about psychology. Laforet proposed shooting from an unusually high altitude to capture the lines formed by the streets of NYC at night, which remind him of “brain synapses.” After finding a helicopter pilot willing to fly at such a crazy altitude, the photographer had to work with him to plan flight paths and obtain special clearances to fly above airline traffic landing at airports.
Luckily, the trip was pulled off without a hitch, resulting in a truly stunning collection of photos showcasing the city’s iconic skyline from above. To see more, be sure to check out Laforet’s post on his experience and this behind-the-scenes video by David Geffin. Thanks MyModernMet
