att, I decided not to be my basic ass and att the WIP to the angelic form

WIP cause my pathfinder kingmaker brainrot is real, i am happy to finally be the person who does the values in greyscale, I didn't liked to do it tbh cause it seemed pointless but now it kinda made my art process more organized
#pathfinder kingmaker#tristian#digital art#wip#spoilers for his quest:#.....................#He stayed human on my playthrough this is just the angelic form sprll that I guess I used so much that the game visually glitched#just before I reached the rushlight festival#and he stayed with the wings for the rest of the game lmao

I've been asked several times recently if there's confirmation in the files that the first room in the Fade Ossuary is related to Rook. Yes, there is. But actually, it's also mentioned in the game. That's what Spite is talking about.
To get past the locks you have to get past the guards. The first room has a lock, but no guard, which surprises Rook. And Spite explains why.
Rook: Nobody's here. Spite: Of course not. Rook can't be here. Rook: Me? Why not? Spite: You open doors. You don't close them.
Lucanis can't imagine Rook as his guard. Rook is the reason he's free. And if he imagines Rook as the key, which they are, then for him it means releasing a demon.
Symbolically, the first room is Lucanis' cell. The place where he and Rook first met.
Compared to the real Ossuary, there is a table with playing cards and fewer ice crystals. Alas gambling Rook is a hidden detail. Not everyone will know about this. If you romance Emmrich, you'll hear that he's afraid to play cards with Rook. If you romance Lucanis, Rook will say they can play cards with Spite while he sleeps. Elek in Minrathous calls Rook a killer in wicked grace. Maybe it's mentioned somewhere else, dunno. So I think the cards are also hinting at Rook.
As for the files, in the Ossuary the entrance to Lucanis' cell named Lucanis Cell Door.

But in his mental prison, this entrance has a different name. Door to Rook.

Davrin’s gentle eyes matches his hobby of choice (whittling) bc gentleness is required to keep from splintering the wood and then to add detail to the figures that he makes… and just his overall gentle mindset for why he’s making a monster bestiary/codex (so that other people don’t get killed because these creatures are dangerous, you should engage with them with caution) and just he is so gentle and so thoughtful and yes, clan life wasn’t for him but he still thinks of them and thinks highly of his people and wants to protect them, and he still pays attention to nature and can see when something is wrong with it; Davrin who says he’ll open shop with Neve, davrin who has been collecting info on monsters and creatures for years enough to have a book that can be published, davrin who grieves and mourns his friends very obviously, davrin who knows dwarven to greet the grey wardens’s partners on the deep roads, davrin who was in trusted with the griffons, not just because he was supposed to be the bodyguard but because remi and lancet saw his potential and acknowledged it — and he’s not just the bodyguard but the safe guard and keeper of their future and a the father of one (Assan), he thinks highly and references his family both biological and found, he remembers fondly riding on aravels and being around the campfire — he’s the one with the heart of a Halla too!!
So yes,
Davrin.

Nothing is perfect. Nothing will ever be perfect. You can still love lovely things in an imperfect thing and not whip yourself when gushing about it. Yet if all you contribute to an environment is vitriol without a point, you have lost the plot of your life and may god have mercy on your soul.

It continues to kill me that the lighthouse starts to come alive again when Lucanis lights the hearth in the kitchen. Like the light in the fade even gets sunnier, and the plants start to grow.
They're slowly starting to come together, and the lighthouse is reflecting that back to them. (As the fade is wont to do)
The whole team contributes to this for sure! Like those plants are all Harding.
Lucanis specifically gets to me because he's coming straight from The Ossuary and starts turning the kitchen into a soft place to land. It's warm, it's inviting, there's a caringly made meal. And I think that really reflects the lighthouse itself? It was so lonely for so long! It lost so much after the veil! It was probably hurting. And when at last it has people again? It just wants to care for them.
I suspect the lighthouse has a soft spot for the weird man who lives in the panty. Because they have a lot in common.

Varric: But being a leader isn't about having all the answers yourself: It's about knowing who does.
See, this is why I really don't understand those posts whining about how Rook isn't the coolest member of the Veilguard and everyone else has much more useful skills and whatnot. Rook may not necessarily be the fastest or strongest or smartest member of the team, but what they do have is the ability to make plans, improvise when those plans go wrong, inspire their allies, earn their trust and love, encourage them to work together and put aside their differences, and use each one of them to the fullest extent of their abilities to further the team's goals. A leader doesn't have to have all the answers or be the best fighter or have the most interesting and detailed backstory (hell, you really don't want that last point for the PC of an RPG), they have to be able to lead. The best fighter or cleverest trickster in the world is useless in a position of authority if they can't use that authority effectively without alienating their allies. And Rook ultimately is able to lead, probably better than anyone else on the team could, because that's where their skillset lies. People really need to get rid of this idea that the role of The Leader automatically goes to whoever's "coolest". It's not a reward, it's an incredibly demanding job that for best results has to go to whoever is best suited to carry it out. Rook doesn't have the flashiest skills, but they do have the skills required to lead well and win loyalty, and for the leader of a team like this that is infinitely more important.
