adding onto my post....... saw someone say "how is annabeth both an idealist and a cynic" and the answer is simple: she's not <3

annabeth is clever and she's hopeful. she is not cynical. her entire arc relies heavily on the fact that she is hopeful to the point of naivete. she isn't the Jaded, Closed-Off Smart Girl Who's Been Hurt trope that you're so used to seeing with intelligent girls in media. that's where fanon and canon differ the most when it comes to annabeth.

she's not ur regular Smart Girl. she's not ever defined by her wit. she is defined almost entirely by her loneliness and her loyalty. she's not his best friend because she's smart. she's his best friend because she brings out the best sides of him by being exactly like him and being a completely different person at the same time.

she is NOT a cynical character. percy is. thalia is. luke is. nico is. annabeth is not- and that's why she grounded each of these characters in her own way. where luke only sees the past and percy cannot think past the present, annabeth puts her faith in a future!! she's the single MOST hopeful character in the entire series which would be pretty grim without her, actually. she holds the light <3

The best thing about steddie is that Steve malfunctions every time Eddie flirts with him. It’s so funny to watch because this is the king of charm and charisma Steve Harrington we’re talking about. He should be able to flirt back or roll his eyes at least but no Eddie smiles at him and we see his brain shutting down.
