Watch Damascus
If you are a follower of @AnchorHolds on Twitter, then you may have seen the news articles concerning possible rumblings in Syria.
There are so many hot spots throughout the world it's almost dizzying to keep up with. However, if I were to encourage you to watch a certain place in the world for clues as to the Lord's timetable for ushering in the begining of End Things, it would be Damascus.
Isaiah 17:1 is enough to make our ears perk up when the world rattles sabers in the direction of Syria. In this verse, the Lord declares that Damascus will be a heap of ruins. This is followed by recounting future promises of bringing Israel low, which to any student of History will agree, is a discussion of future events.
The reason this must be speaking of future events is the fact Damascus is one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world; more than 5,000 years. So, it is quite significant when the Word of God states that the city will be a heap of ruin followed by a ruining of Israel. These events may be that catalysts for beginning of sorrows.
It is possible, however, that all this talk about war could be some of the "wars and rumors of wars" found in Matthew 24. In which case, "don't fret, the end is not yet..." #TshirtIdea
Watch Damascus. This is gunna get little bit rowdy.

Abortion's Next Level of Evil...
Some who read this blog may be what is popularly called "Pro-Choice". Many of you are Pro-Life. TheAnchorHolds likes to always error on the side of life no matter the issue, but that's a discussion for another post...
I found an article that displays the fact that when you popularize and culturally allow one form of evil, it will never stop. It's the whole If You Give a Mouse a Cookie Principle. One compromise leads to another, which leads to another until you have walked down a path much, much further than you ever thought you would possibly tread.
The article linked here, basically reports that China is taking aborted and still born babies, grinding them up whole, and making vitamin supplements with them.
I don't really care on what side of the fence you are are on in regards to the Abortion issue, that is wholesale evil. Pretty much makes me sick.

Where has TheAnchorHolds been?...
....been cookin' stuff up in the lab.
SO many projects started, in the works, various levels of completion. All good things.
However, some of the focus of this blog will be shifting slightly. I have been finding that news and information that would be worth following and keeping track of is coming at break-neck-speed. Commentary in a long form blog post is not possible.
For the three or four people who actually read this blog, there will be a shift to include more and more links using the Twitter feed. Go to Twitter and start following @AnchorHolds and you should start receiving links to articles, video, podcasts, and such that may not impact you in the immediate, but will. Perhaps sooner than you think.
The disclaimer: not all links posted express the views or opinions of TheAnchorHolds. So, use your discernment. Though if I have to remind you to use discernment when dealing with the media, then perhaps you do not have enough of it to be following the @AnchoHolds. #playingwithfire #tongueincheek
Again, sorry for the absence, but I will hopefully be able to announce some exciting things that will be coming soon in the coming months. Some of you will be really excited about it and it could possibly change your lives. For others of you, you won't really care in the slightest.

One Down, One More to Go...
There was great deal of hub-bub surrounding Harold Camping's calculation of the Rapture on May 21, 2011. (For the AnchorHolds Official Rant see this post) There was far too much publicity of a severely under-supported view. Once his true research was actually flushed out, by anyone who chose to actually check out his claims, there was very little research. It was mostly number and grammar gymnastics that would hardly be allowed in a high school debate competition let alone pass as "Eschatology."
Well, we have one more doomsday prediction that will be here before we know it. Yup, I'm talking about the 2012 End-o-du-World. If you take some time, you will find way, way, way too many claims of proof and truth to this prediction. What is extremely sad, is that there is very little actual dissection of these claims.
Once the claims are actually evaluated and sources checked, any honest researcher will find that claims of the death of the world are greatly exaggerated. In fact, they are at best fabricated, at worse devised to deceive. But to what end? The Truth is so much stranger than fiction and whole lot worse than can be imagined.
So, in light of all this, TheAnchorHoldsBlog is going to be posting a series of in-depth research and articles written in connection with the 2012 Deception, as I am going to call the series (Not original, I know, but it will work as a search-able Tag.)
Just to give you a taste, here is your first site to check out. It is published by Dr. Michael Heiser, the Academic Editor at Logos, the little Bible Software company you may have heard of.
The site is in regards to "researcher" Zecharia Sitchin, and I use the quotes on purpose and I debated whether to even use the word to be honest. What is appalling is his writings are used as source material for so many other "researchers" without any double checking or linguistic critique.
Dr. Michael Heiser's site is http://www.sitchiniswrong.com/, which sounds bold, I know. But with few minutes of perusing the site and you see the grand canyon size gaps in Sichin's theories concerning Sumer, the Annunaki, and the lost planet Nibiru.
Take a look and let me know what you think.

Great post by Dr. Ibex himself
When the ark was moved from Kiriath-jearim to the newly captured Jebus/Jerusalem/City of David, it was the climax of a journey that began centuries earlier at Mt. Sinai. At least two other psalms bring this event vividly to mind: Psalm 24, awestruck at the holiness of the King of glory, and Psalm...

I often think of the early Church Apostles who deliberately changed their formal day of worship to Sunday because of the resurrection of Jesus. It was something that they celebrated and recalled daily, but understood its importance so much they wanted to have a specific day to celebrate...

A Rant about Camping
This rant is not so much about sleeping out in tents, but it is about Harold Camping. The founder of Family Radio is about 24 hours away from making a complete idiot of himself with his most recent Rapture prediction.
If this was only about him and his ministry, that would be one thing, but it is not. It is clearly the job of the modern Western media to find any crackpot, bigot, or screwball (pick your own noun/adjective word you like) and make them the "voice" or "herald" of Christianity. This for some reason is completely legitimate to do with Christianity, but is not done with any most other fanatical ideas.
When those Dodgers fans beat that Giants fan within an inch of his life, there was no linking of the tiny handful of fanatics with the Dodgers organization in totality. So, why is it that one ignoramus making any claim connecting himself with Christianity or a Church immediately speaks for the whole? (The only other group this is done with is Islam, but that's another rant all together.)
Harold Camping should have been exposed as a false teacher / false prophet back in 1994 when he made the same predictions he is making now.  Just because he buys billboard space does not make him learned or correct. After his first failed prediction, he should have been silenced, or had the decency to silence himself from future predictions that make the whole Christian Church look like a collective village idiot. Where are the people in his life that keep him accountable to what the Bible teaches? Someone who misleads a church is not alone in his error, there are others there that should hold him accountable.
Too many in the Church regard Eschatology to be an unimportant side-issue in Theology put somewhere in the category of women's head-coverings and separate communion mini-cups or shared goblet.
Eschatology is an extremely important area of Theology to study, if for no other reason, to easily refute and set aside stupid predictions as the one Harold Camping has made. I guarantee, on May 22, when the Rapture has not happened, the world will make an absolute mockery of Christian Eschatology and Theology as a whole, and after thinking that was so much fun will find another Theological Issue with another useful false teacher for another round.
In closing this rant, a word to the Media: STOP ANOINTING PEOPLE TO BE CHRISTIAN LEADERS FOR THE CHURCH. You do a terrible job of it. You find the sensational instead of the rational because RATINGS are the name of the game, not TRUTH.

I just finished the Keith Green Story, posted in full on YouTube and all I can say is, Wow, Convicting. I kind of knew the facts of his story, but not all the details. He leaves a legacy that is nothing if not Glorifying to God.... and that's just what he wanted.
Running Time: an hour and some change.

Today is my Mom's Birthday!
My mother is one of most godly women I have ever known. Truly, not only her family, but all who know her "rise up and call her blessed." She tirelessly prays, thoughtfully counsels, and with skill that is only tempered by love she applies God's Word to people and situations in a way that brings Glory to God.
We are truly thankful for her. So, on the celebration of her birth, I am not alone in saying: Happy Birthday, Mama. Love you!
