Day 11 / 31  #‎MonthOfPraise‬

This morning I awoke to the horribly painful and tragic news of the South Carolina prayer meeting massacre. My heart was so moved for the victims, for their beautiful families that have been left to pick up the pieces in this aftermath. So this morning, I suggested to the@bethelmusic team that we create an art piece to try and bring some sense of comfort and healing to the grieving families and to a grieving nation. This is a simplified version of the print that I created this morning. The words are lyrics from the @kalleyheili anthem “Ever Be”. How poignant. Through tears and trials His praise will ever be on our lips. Here’s where faith gets turned into action. Our love for Him and his love for us, has to overcome the pain and fear that we feel in times like this. We don’t pretend to think that we have the answers, but we know The One who does. We can trust in His PERFECT outworking of ALL situations. He brings all things together for His good. This doesn’t mean that God created this situation, but it definitely has not taken Him by surprise. He feels our pain. He is with us.

Sometimes this feeling overtakes me. 

it seeps into my bones

it takes over the seemingly small parts of my life 

i find myself allowing it to dictate my feelings, dictate my choices, dictate my view on myself 

i allow this cultural norm of sadness as beauty to make what i feel okay 

but i am not okay. 

in fact, i’m miserable. 

I ache. 

ache for comfort, ache for joy, ache for something different. 

you think my sadness is like a show to watch, 

you think my struggle isn’t ripping me apart inside.

but, i am slowly dying 

and you think it’s beautiful.
