I remember the first time I heared Linkin Park I was eight years old. Introduced me to a new type of music and genre completely different from anything that I had ever listened to. Helped shape and mold my musical tastes. Rest in peace Chester your voice was part of the soundtrack of my childhood. Hours after encouraging an immediate repeal, Trump tweets that Congress should “let Obamacare fail”
On Monday evening, almost immediately after two Republican senators dealt a killing blow to their own party’s attempt to eviscerate the Affordable Care Act, President Donald Trump tweeted to encourage the GOP to repeal “failing Obamacare” without worrying about a replacement for the health care mandate.
But by Tuesday morning, Trump seemed to directly contradict his initial statement, instead telling his party to “let Obamacare fail” of its own accord, “as [he has] always said.”
Trump’s two conflicting directives, separated by a matter of hours, are the latest chaotic entries in Republicans’ attempts to repeal and replace the ACA, a keystone of former President Barack Obama’s legacy. Read more. (7/18/2017 10:40 AM)

Something To Tell You - Haim
For those of you who don’t know Haim is a pop rock band that consist of three bad ass sisters from California. Although these girls are from the Valley they are far from typical. The trio’s latest album Something To Tell You has been long awaited by fans. The vibes from 2013’s Days Are Gone are recreated in the band’s latest installment. The pop-y soft rock sound on the follow up EP is reminiscent of 80s artists like George Michael and Fleetwood Macs’ Stevie Nicks. With a four-year gap between LPs, you can hear the evolution in sound and the balanced nature of the lyrics.
Layered sounds are ever present throughout, the soft rock and RnB influences mesh in songs like “Walking Away” and “Little of Your Love”. Haim didn’t do all of this by themselves, they had production help from Former Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij. The album sounds like something that would be played in the background of a John Hughes movie. Haim’s rhythm is unmatched when compare to other artist today. The trio took a classic break up anthem and boosted it to another level, made the emotions raw and more complex. With a new glossed over feel these women have a knack for emotional ambiguity. Danielle, Haim’s lead singer delivers the lyrics in a way that calls to your inner 15-year-old self. If you are into Taylor Swift lyricism with a Stevie Nicks flare you should check out Something To Tell You. RATED: 7/10 By Bernice Ogbondah

Intro.
Welcome to The Collective a news and media blog.
A little about me, my name is Bernice Ogbondah I am a 20-year-old budding journalist based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. I am a first generation American of Nigerian descent. My mixed heritage has influenced me so much, it took twenty years for me to realize it. Because of it, for a long time, I struggled with trying to be more American or more Nigerian. While pushing and pulling myself one way or the other I was unable to be myself. My identity seemed to plague me I did not know who I was for literally my whole life. Now, I finally understand myself. I know who I am and what I like. I am passionate about so many different things and I will use this blog as a tool to write and post about those topics. This blog will inspire, motivate and push me to become a better journalist and writer overall.
This blog will consist of a few segments. The first segment: Reviewed - here I will review new movies, music, books, and art. Also movies, music, and art that has been influential in my life. The second segment: Commentary - here I will give my perspective on newsworthy issues.
Somewhere along the line, I might begin a podcast, but I'll get there when I get there. Time to start this journey hopefully, the things I write about will inspire people to look inside themselves.
