Could Holiday Meals be Alleviating your Sleep Problems?
Could Holiday Meals be Alleviating your Sleep Problems?
Author: Nick Ryan

With the holiday season upon us, chances are you have already begun to make plans to spend extra time with family, exchange gifts, or take some time off from work. Though different, all of these activities tend to have one thing in common: food. You might be tempted to write these meals off as an unnecessary splurge and something that you’ll regret in the coming weeks, but

Narcolepsy vs. Sleep Apnea
Narcolepsy vs. Sleep Apnea
Tumblr media
When I first started working at Monitor Medical and learning all about sleep apnea, one of my initial thoughts was ‘what the difference between this and narcolepsy, they sound pretty similar.’ The simple answer, which I now know, is that a person who suffers from sleep apnea can stop breathing throughout the night which will more than likely lead to daytime sleepiness and other symptoms compared

Weighted Therapy
Tumblr media
I have been doing a lot of research into different solutions to help my fall asleep fast and stay asleep longer. While I do enjoy the benefits of melatonin, I do not want to develop a dependency on it despite it being a safe over the counter drug. I have had a few acquaintances mentioned that they have a weighted blanket and has changed their sleeping game for the better, I thought it would be

Getting Started
Many times we get patient’s calling in asking how they should proceed with getting a setup on a new machine. This will be their first machine, they’ve endured a sleep test, and now they have no idea how to proceed. Here at Monitor Medical it’s a fairly simple process. Here is a break down of how the process should go an ideal world:

MedCline and your Comfort
You know that feeling when you’re lying in bed? You’re exhausted, but no matter what you do you cannot find that one comfortable position that will allow you to easily fall asleep. You toss and turn, and toss and turn some more, and still nothing. It’s quite possibly the worst feeling in the world. Luckily, there are a few simple solutions to this issue.

Transcend into Travel
Tumblr media
If you suffer from sleep apnea, you probably already know that traveling with your CPAP machine can be an annoying experience. The newer machines are much smaller than its predecessors, however, some patients still think of it as ‘too big.’ They also have an opinion on the travel units as well – they are too expensive. While I do agree that they are on the pricier side, I also think that travel

If you’re a CPAP user I’m sure you have heard of the Dreamwear mask at this point – either the original mask, the nasal pillow mask, or the full face mask. The product has been pretty successful in the CPAP industry and has quickly become a favorite among many patients. It seemed as though Respironics has the ideal mask created, and there was an option for everyone. However, it looks like they

Caffeine: your best friend or worst enemy? If you’re like me, coffee is the language that you speak in the morning. It is more than just a beverage; rather it is a concoction that brings me to live.

Hello, Spring! Here a few tips for your CPAP user + allergy sufferer. Winter has come and now it is gone. While I do love hauling out my winter wardrobe from the depths of my closet (I mean way back in the back of my closet because do we even winter in Houston!?), not having to make an excuse for wearing a dark smoky eye, and the seasonal drinks at Starbucks I would much rather it be nice and warm because I am from the south and I wouldn’t have it any other way no matter how much I might complain about it being too warm.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia Insomnia, in simple terms, can be defined as not being able to sleep. The medical definition, according to the National Sleep Foundation, is “difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, even with a person has the chance to do so.”

New but a little familiar too

Is it just me that gets pretty hype whenever there is a new product launch in the CPAP world? I don’t use a CPAP, although depending on whom you ask they might tell you I should, but I can’t help but get excited for y’all CPAP users when something new comes out for y’all to try. I’m pretty much like a kid in a candy store for a lack of a better metaphor. That being said, you can imagine my

Whoever came up with the phrase ‘the bigger the better’ obviously did not have CPAP machines and supplies in mind. We live a life of luxury and want things as convenient as possible; in this case, that means, we want to be able to breathe (hence the CPAP machine), but we don’t want to lug around some big bulky machine. We want something small and travel friendly. And heaven forbid, we actually

SMART Goals for the New Year
SMART Goals for the New Year
We’re ten days into the New Year, and hopefully everyone has gotten that whole “new year, new me” who-ha out of their system. If not, please do so immediately. Sure, we are in a new year, but let’s be realistic, are you really going to become a whole new person? Chances are the answer is no; you are going to make some changes, but at the end of the day you are going to be the same person, so
