Recs with a Theme: Shrunkyclunks
This rec list is full of fics that contain Shrunkyclunks. It's a selection of fics that I think are amazing and fics I think are a good introduction to this theme. The list is by now means comprehensive but one where I hope people find fics they enjoy! I had to seriously narrow it down because it was too long haha xoxo Piper
I Can't Do Everything (But I'll Do Anything For You) by musette22 @musette22 [Explicit, 24,578 words, Meet-Cute, Rockstar Bucky Barnes, Strangers to Lovers]
Steve Rogers cares about a lot of things, but dating isn’t one of them – much to his fellow Avengers’ bemusement. It’s just never been very high on his list of priorities, falling somewhere behind his work, his friends, his hobbies, and that excellent pepperoni pizza from Vinnie’s on Flatbush Ave.
That is until one night, Natasha drags Steve out to a charity music concert by some hotshot singer that Steve has never actually heard of (which would surprise exactly no one, seeing as Steve is still partial to his records and his radio plays). And as soon as Steve lays eyes on Grammy-award winning musician and international heartthrob James Barnes for the very first time, suddenly he wonders if maybe dating wouldn’t be so bad after all. Dating James Barnes, specifically, that is. The question is just: how does one go about that? Especially one like Steve, who’s never wooed anybody in his century-long life, let alone a man. Let alone a man with long, dark hair, tattoos all over his arms, and a fanbase that rivals Steve’s own.
It’s not like he can just go up to him and say something like, "You and me babe, how about it?"
A Little Sparkle by roe87 @jro616 [Teen and Up, 7,152 words, Meet-Cute, Shy Steve Rogers, Awkward Flirting, Blind Date]
"What about that guy in accounting?" Natasha mused. "Billy, Buddy, or…?"
"Bucky," Steve said, knowing who she meant. "Lip piercing, right?"
"Yeah! He's cute."
"Yeah," Steve agreed hesitantly, then added, "but I'm not ready for that."

Steve can’t remember a time when someone’s touch had been more than perfunctory. A hand to his arm, moving him into the correct position. An arm around his shoulders, blocking him from a hit. He can’t remember the last time that someone touched him for the sake of the contact; because Steve deserved gentle things. In a big, bright, lonely new world, Steve finds solace in a hair salon.

Professional Pride by galwednesday [Teen and Up, 700 words, Pride, Meet-Cute, Tattoo Artist Bucky Barnes]
Bucky is having a very good day, until he turns around and finds himself face-to-face with Captain America.
“Oh shit,” he blurts before he can stop himself, and Captain America blinks at him. “Hey, hi, I didn’t expect to see you here.” Here, at New York’s Pride parade, surrounded by thousands of happy screaming people wearing rainbows and sometimes not much else. What is he doing here? Is he on guard duty or something? Was he just on a mission and happened to be passing by on his way back?
He’s in uniform but with the cowl loose around his neck, so when he rubs the back of his head it fluffs up his matted hair. “I, uh. I saw one of your–temporary tattoos?” Captain fucking America says, like it’s a question.

When Steve wakes up in a body that isn’t his and in a city he does not know, he finds refuge in the role of Captain America and the endless grind of missions. He spends nearly every night on the rooftop of the tower, smoking useless cigarettes and wanting to go home.
Enter Bucky Barnes, a garden witch with a quiet life tasked with creating a rooftop garden for Stark Industries. As long as he ignores the yearning for something unnamed, he’s content.
Steve is just another stranger until he shows up one afternoon, covered in blood and bruises, and Bucky can’t help but magick his wounds away.
Sometimes, fate has a funny habit of drawing the right people together.

The guy—maybe bi_shield?—took his phone, looked down at the screen, and smiled. "Yeah, that one's mine," he said with no evidence of embarrassment. "It was a good one." He handed the phone back to Bucky.

Brought to Brightness by eyres [Teen and Up, 10,748 words, Veteran Bucky Barnes, Catfishing, Romance]
Army veteran Bucky Barnes has fallen in love with Steve, a guy he met online a few months after he returned from Afghanistan. Only problem is, he doesn't know Steve's last name or even what he looks like.
When his sister helps him send his story into MTV's Catfish, he's hoping they can help him meet Steve or, at least, let him move on with his life if Steve isn't real. Little does he know, Steve and Captain America have more in common than just a first name.
